Two blocks from Dolores Park! Our apartment is on quiet Fair Oaks Street at 22nd, between Dolores and Guerrero. Those who know will tell you that this is the best spot in the known universe to live. It's the sunniest and warmest part of the city, a block and a half from the J and four blocks from the 24th St. BART, a straight shot to the 280 freeway if you've need to drive somewhere, a little shopping area on the corner, two blocks to the Valencia St corridor for fun, three blocks to the fish markets and Mexican stores on Mission or four blocks to the Whole Foods in Noe Valley, and just over the hill from Castro street.
The living room is our pride and joy, it feels like you're in Dumbledore's study or something. We live in the bedroom at the front of the house and we are offering you our second bedroom with a queen size bed. Idiosyncratically, the second bedroom has a really nice mattress, like worth more than my car.
We have a big kitchen with a built-in dining room and all the amenities you'd expect: gas stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, granite counters, espresso machine... everything you need for the good life. There's a small washer/dryer in-unit, and a claw-foot bathtub that fits two and a shower with tons and tons of really hot water. Down one flight of stairs from our apartment is an adorable patio shared with the neighbors in the building behind us. All original wood floors!
I work in tech startups, and Kyra, my lovely girlfriend, works in the entrepreneurship center at UCSF. (Our full names are Kai Stinchcombe and Kyra Davis if you want to look us up.) We're usually out by 8a and back like 6p if we're cooking or 9p if we're out for the evening, and go to the park on the weekends. We are very near the Castro and are gay/queer friendly.
Honestly, we live a charmed life – we were so lucky to get this place and have filled with all the positive energy we can. There's no better city in the world to live in, and no better neighborhood in the city, and no better street in the neighborhood, and our apartment is a pretty lovely place to enjoy it all from. Please come stay if you like!
* We're looking for a month to month renter – someone who wants a place for three to six months is ideal
* We interview everyone – when the place is open we typically interview ten people and pick someone we feel compatible and comfortable with
* There is not space for a couple. We don't mind if a boyfriend or girlfriend stays over occasionally but an extra roommate won't work
* The place is furnished – there isn't room for you to bring in your own furniture.
* No additional animals. There's a photo of our dog coco in the photos on top, if you're nervous about living with a dog you're welcome to meet her first.
* The price listed is $1600 rent plus $100 for split utilities, internet, and having it cleaned twice a week.
Rented the room for approximately 16 days, and had no problems what-so-ever during stay. Room is clean, quiet, and sunny. The location next to Dolores park is great, as is its proximity to dining on Valencia and Mission streets. Host was absent for majority of stay, but is very communicative, and his room mate was very welcoming and friendly. When host did return briefly, he invited me out to dinner -- which was a much appreciated gesture since I had just moved to the city. All in all a very positive experience.
Kai and his roommate Ben are relaxed, positive, communicative, and generous hosts. Their house is cozy and the neighborhood convenient to San Franciscan delights of all kinds. Highly recommended.
