Beautiful and festive studio in the Yosemite foothills.
Studio has a tree-house feel, beautiful views of soaring golden eagles, deer, other wildlife, and the abundant oak & pine trees up here in the Yosemite foothills. The bright and airy interior is decorated festively in keeping with the vacation-get-away theme here. It is the only apartment upstairs from the upscale Spanish home below it so has lots of privacy, does not share anything, and is away from our pets. If you are a fun person, love color and a very quiet but cheerful surrounding, this is for you!
Note: LATE CHECK-IN OKAY for this unit because it has its own private entrance.
There is a full kitchen and a counter with stools to eat at, a microwave and large refrigerator, a stove and range. It has a Mexican tile mural above the range, and a view of the courtyard and fountain below. There is also a full bath with custom tile, a shower/tub, and a combo living room/bedroom with a brand new queen-sized bed and also a single futon. Two nice bonuses are it now has newer carpet, and a covered balcony with small table and chairs overlooking the meadow, and a little further away my neighbor's pasture where their Appaloosa horses (and my one motley rescue sheep, Gladys) eat.
This is a great place to chill, have a glass of wine and/or a cigarette on the balcony (there is no smoking in the room itself, and please shut room's front door while smoking on the balcony), listen to the tinkling windchimes hanging from a logpole above you, and enjoy the (usual) afternoon breeze. Bring a book (or Kindle) or write one:-], study, watch the occasional deer stroll by, squirrels playing, cotton-tail rabbits, ravens, quail, hummingbirds and lots and lots of other birds with their beautiful songs. The only drawback here is that you must climb 1 flight of stairs to get to this unit, and there isn't much storage space - has only a small closet.
Distance from the Yosemite entrance is approx. 30 miles, which takes betw 40-60 minutes to drive, depending on traffic. The Gate is very close to the Mariposa Grove (huge Sequoia trees), 10-15 mi. to the Wawona area next to the Merced River with its covered bridge, and museum of Old West homes and artifacts. From there it is another 30 min. approx. to the Yosemite Valley or Glacier Point.
We have great maps of Yosemite showing where all the waterfalls, hiking trails, etc., are, and also info on Bass Lake, which is only 25 miles away from our house. You can rent boats, hike, or even swim there. I am happy to go over the maps with you and make sure you don't miss anything important and don't get lost. I will also explain where the grocery stores are or anything else you need. Just come down to the main house if you arrive during the day and ring the bell, or if you arrive late, ring the bell the next morning after 10 am.
ARRIVAL TIMES: Although check-in time is at 3 pm daily, we are flexible depending on our other guests schedules. You are always welcome to come early and drop off your luggage, go over the Yosemite maps, and take off for Yosemite afterward, making the most of your day and knowing your way home :-]
Michael and I live downstairs and are usually home and available to talk or chat with, if you are interested in getting to know a local. We are warm, friendly hosts and enjoy meeting and talking with guests, so if you'd like to chat or have some questions about the area or whatever, just ring our doorbell :-) We also respect those who just want their privacy, so don't feel obligated to visit the main house if that's not for you.
Our home is in a country setting with lots of oak, pines and huge, ancient boulders on the property. It is normally a very quiet place to chill out and relax. We also have some historic remnants of a very rough "Chinese Wall" made during the Gold Rush days (1800s) when miners panned the creek at the bottom of our 5-acre property. We will be happy to show you where that is if you are interested in seeing it.
Groceries are available at a market in downtown Coarsegold, about 5 miles further north on Hwy 41, and the big supermarkets, sporting goods stores, restaurants, etc., are in Oakhurst, which is about 15 miles from our house, also further north on Hwy 41. It's a good idea to bring some groceries with you so you won't have to go shopping when you arrive. Or, there is a large casino just 8 minutes away that has a huge buffet, noodle bar, '50s cafe, and a regular restaurant with good food.
Finally, there is a washer and dryer available in the garage for your convenience during day-time hours.
I look forward to your visit!
Sorry but this is the country and there is no available public transit.
Other Things to Note
Please note that children DO count as guests and book accordingly, thank you.
We are looking for easygoing, neat and quiet people to help retain the retreat-like atmosphere here. Please make sure the A/C, heater, and/or ceiling fan is turned off whenever you leave the Studio. Also, please be friendly and respectful of the property and other guests here. Last, please drive slowly on the property as there is an abundance of wildlife. (There is no hunting allowed here.) Last, liquid body soap is provided. Oh, and please do not use bar soap - it creates soap scum on the bathroom tile and clogs the plumbing - speaking of which, people are dropping all sorts of personal items (including sanitary napkins of all sizes, condoms, etc.,] down the toilet that do not belong there. There is a wastecan in every bathroom, and only toilet paper should EVER go into the toilet, thanks!
My husband and I stayed in the cute treetop bungalow, it was more than enough room for both of us and the kitchen had everything we needed. We met with Ginger and her husband as soon as we arrived. Their hospitality was great and we truly appreciated Ginger's help putting together an itinerary for three full days of hikes and exploration of Yosemite National Park. I am a morning person, so each morning was beautiful waking up to the sun shining over the ranch style property and watching the horses over on the neighbors property! I live in the city, so this was a breath of fresh air. We would definitely love to come back! We are recommending Ginger's place to friend's and family.
Our stay was great! Ginger was very accommodating and her place was exactly what we needed. Peaceful, private and comfortable. She was also very helpful and had great suggestions for what to do in Yosemite!
Amazing host .. amazing place.. Ginger and Mike were really good host and made us feel very comfortable. GINGER not only took us through maps, which was helpful since it was our first visit but Mike also provided the chains for our car since it snowed at yosomite . We would obviously love to come again and stay here. This was our first airbnb experience and we will for sure go for such experience in future. Ginger's place is beautiful with trees and birds and deck. We enjoyed having our food on the deck . The kitchen is pretty much self sufficient and really helpful for people like us who prefer vegetarian and home made food . Love you guys. We will be back soon
Ginger was a great host! There were 3 of us staying for a visit to Yosemite and we were very pleased with our stay. The place is located about 45 minutes from the park gate, but also 15 minutes from restaurants, grocery stores, gas, etc. in Oakhurst which is on the way to Yosemite.
Ginger was very welcoming upon our arrival and even gave us a thorough walk-through of the map of Yosemite (must see trails, very helpful hiking tips, etc.) and the area outside of the park as well.
The room was very cozy and was equipped with all kitchen and bathroom essentials. The pullout futon was very comfortable for our 3rd guest. The balcony gives you a beautiful scene to catch the sunrise and see various wildlife.
Ginger's place was exceptional and we would definitely stay again!
The Romantic Treetop is a perfect place to getaway from the hustle bustle of city life and relax. We slept like champs with the fresh air of the windows open and the sunlight was welcomed in the morning. Peaceful morning coffee outside on the terrace overlooking their property was a huge huge perk! We had a well-equipped kitchen - fridge sink, toaster oven, plates, silverware, coffee maker and they even supplied non-bleached coffee grind holders! We loved the peace and tranquility of the neighborhood, the animals- horses, cats, birds, hummingbirds, (we even heard the coyetes). Doug's favorite was the sheep who was a rescue. The location is ideal. (Know that the closest grocery store is in Oakhurt a quick town away.) We packed a cooler with enough food for 4 days and had no trouble. It was about a 40 minute beautiful scenic drive into Yosemite and through the Sierra park. I loved every single minute of it and have nothing but rave reviews! Ginger and Michael are stellar hosts. They are incredibly hospitable and we were fortunate enough that they took their time to invite us into their beautiful custom built Spanish style home. I fell in love with the courtyard (and country life all over again). Ginger really went above and beyond when she described Yosemite for us and seeing that it was a first time for us- it really saved us time planning and figuring. We appreciated our hosts so much. We came as strangers and left as friends- they're that kind of people. I would come back in a hurry! Thanks you two for everything you do to offer such an amazing getaway !
This was our first airbnb trip and it was great. Hosts Ginger and Michael made us feel very welcome in this clean, quiet, well appointed, and very relaxing space. When we mentioned my wife's cat allergies, they generously added an air purifier to the room (at no extra cost), and we had no trouble. They also offered us a second space heater (it was January!) and communicated clearly about some minor electrical issues that they were in the middle of getting fixed (and which didn't impact our stay). They also promptly addressed several questions we asked of them. We'd stay here again. THANKS!
Great place! Clean, beautiful, and has everything we needed. Highly recommended!!!

I am a native Californian and retired grandmother formerly from Santa Barbara, San Diego, and the Bay Area. I have been living in the beautiful Sierra foothills for over 13 years now. Having been self-employed most of my life in various businesses, including publishing, graphic arts, and real estate, my true love is music and I have had my own rock 'n roll bands (many years ago, sigh).
Exciting news on my end is my former husband Michael and I have reunited after 42 years, and will be remarrying next summer :-] He now enjoys the hosting experience with me, as well as helping tremendously with the workload a large property entails. What a blessing he is! I guess the moral of this story is it's never too late for love :-]
We are friendly, young at heart, love animals and most non-overly opinionated people, and enjoy growing plants and trees--especially palm trees. Michael was also a musician and in the music industry in one form or the other for most of his adult life. We love meeting new people from all walks of life and sharing our home with friendly, good-humored guests.
We sincerely look forward to meeting you!
