Despite our very late night arrival and Despoina having to be out of town, she was extremely helpful by phone and text guiding us in. As well as the initial guidance, she made excellent suggestions for walks and restaurants.
The accommodation itself is fabulous. The picture in the profile is the breakfast/sitting room, a separate building next to the one with the four modern duplex apartments. Breakfasts were delicious - ample plates with fresh fruit when we were there, plus Greek yoghurt and honey, cereals, coffee, etc. All are located in a private orchard-like area. The apartments are extremely comfortable and very tastefully decorated.
The views across the valley are fabulous and the air is sweet and clean. There are shops, including a bakery, two minutes walk away, and the village is just on the edge of Sparti town. All round a great experience - highly recommended.
We had a wonderful week at Despoina's place. The property has a beautiful view of the mountains and Mystras historical site. There was a lot of outdoor space for our kids to run and play. We had a lovely fresh breakfast and the room was comfortable and nicely styled.
But most of all it was Despoina's hospitality that made our stay special, I feel that we made a friend.
Despoina hosted us at the beginning of our trip in the Peloponnese, near Sparta, but especially around Mystras, a beautiful city that dates back to the Byzantine city to visit.
The B&B is perfect, fully equipped and furnished, the breakfast is very well.
The best thing though is the friendliness and hospitality of Despoina, that makes you feel truly at home and as if you were his friend for years. We went to dinner together and gave us a real taste delicious Greek food, home-made, non-touristy; the next day, with her husband Costantinos, we did a nice bbq with togheter, Greeks, Italians, South Africans, in perfect "airbnb" style.
I suggest to everyone to get the Despoina B&B (Plethon residence), a real greek experience.

We really enjoyed our stay here. One thing to keep in mind is that this is NOT a high end luxury place. I actually thought the pictures made it look more high-end then it was. But, it is clean, peaceful, spacious, and has everything you need, and the setting is gorgeous - so beautiful with view of mountains and ruins of Mistra!! The breakfast is also a really nice bonus, and Depoina gave great restaurant recommendations too. We went to an amazing place on the mountainside that she recommended!
Despoina was a very god and generous host and it was easy to communicate with her. We felt us so relaxed and comfortabel at her place, met some nice other gests and improvised a good dinner together with intresting discussions. We wanted to see Mysta and really enjoyed going there and then we got some god sugestions from Desponia about where to go swimming and eating. She was also specially kind and understanding I felt towards our children.
I cannot recommend staying at Despoina's beautiful B and B enough. It is a perfect place to explore one of Greece's most mystical and beautiful sites, the Byzantine city of Mystras, and much more. The breakfast was delicious, the common space the most beautiful I've seen. The rooms have views of the mountains, with orange trees ripe for the picking right out the door. A better host than Despoina could not be found. I truly can't wait to go back.
We greatly enjoyed our time here! Despoina was warm and welcoming. We enjoyed chatting about the local area, archaeology and our interests. The area and home are gorgeous and well kept. Waking up in such beautiful scenery was wonderful, with the home in an orange grove, surrounded by the mountains. Breakfast was wonderful and we were able to grill out for dinner with Despoina. Thank you so much for your hospitality! We'd love to come back!
