The Space

This apartment is a 2-minute walk to the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge and a 3-minute walk to the subway. It will take you 25 minutes to walk across the bridge or 6 minutes on the subway. A 10-minute walk brings you to the center of Bedford Avenue for many stores, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs, boutiques, and grocery stores.

Your own private bedroom in a large 3-bedroom apartment. There are 2 other people living here (each our private rooms) and our third room is available.

Measurements are 8' by 11' and there is one window overlooking the Manhattan and Brooklyn skyline towards the north. It is on the 3rd floor of a quiet 3-story building. The building/apartment is not a newly renovated condo without style and character, but rather you will be staying in an "Old Brooklyn" style apartment that is very comfortable without the contemporary finish...it is not a new building. It has as much character as Brooklyn once did.

The room has a queen-size bed (clean sheets/blankets & pillows included), a desk and a chair. There is a closet too. Clean fresh towels and linens are provided. The bed is no longer on the floor as the photo indicated, but is elevated with a solid bed frame.

Location: One subway stop from Manhattan, first stop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on the J/M/Z-train. Marcy Avenue Station. 2-min walk from Marcy Ave., 10-minute walk from Bedford Avenue L-train Station. At foot of Williamsburg Bridge on Brooklyn side. 25-min. walk across bridge into Manhattan.

Includes use of kitchen & bathroom, Internet, rooftop. No smoking in apartment, but on rooftop ok.
Kitchen includes various appliances, dishes, fridge, gas stove, coffee maker (espresso), etc. I cook here daily.

About roommates: There are two people living in the apartment. Aged 26 and 38. One man, one woman (we are not a couple). We both work full-time but with different schedules. We are quiet at home, cook at home almost every evening, and enjoy being social (usually meaning out) in the evening.

Keep in mind this is a 3rd floor walk-up with no elevator.

Thank you.

  • I had a wonderful stay at Sebastian's apartment. The room is nice and private. There's some noise from the subway and the traffic, but that didn't bother me at all. Otherwise, the problem could be solved with a pair of earplugs. The kitchen and bathroom are fine as well. Sebastian is a great, fun host: friendly, helpful, easy-going. Also, he replies to messages quickly. The neighbourhood is just great, really lively, lots of bars and coffee shops and restaurants, and some amazing views of the Manhattan skyline, all within walking distance. Manhattan itself is only 1 subway stop away. It seemed like a very safe area, even late at night. What more could you want? Well, more time in New York, obviously. I would love to come back, and I'd definitely stay at Sebastian's place again.

  • Well located near subway line. Room is basic but does the job. Sebastian is really friendly and helpful. Perfect for an inexpensive stay in New York, if you are happy to travel 15-30mins on the subway to get where you need to be.
(If you have heavy luggage, be warned, it is at the top of a lot of stairs!)

  • Great location (only two blocks from the subway and one station to Manhattan). The apartment has everything you will need, and Sebastian is a good host!
Williamsburg is a really nice area, with bars, restaurants and shops.
The place is a bit noisy though, because of the subway. That was fine with us but this is good to know!

  • Sebastian's flat is very well located, close to the subway station and only a station away from Manhattan. On weekdays, M trains are really useful to go to Midtown and all its attractions.

Sebastian has been very accommodating and gaves us tips on where to go, what to pay and an explanation of NYC's tipping system.

    ----------

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Sebastian's place. Excellent location, very close to the Subway and i.e. easy to get to Manhattan. Sebastian is very friendly, and he made sure that everything was fine.
The room was great, enough space for luggage and such. The temperature was nice because the radiators cancelled out the chilling cold outside the week we stayed there.
Be prepared to bring some earplugs, it at bit noisy outside the window with the cars driving in the street and with the metro running by. But as long you have earplugs it's not a problem to fall asleep :)
All in all, very nice stay. Would love to stay here again if I go back to NYC :)

  • Great stay! Sebastian allowed us to stay while away on his own trip by passing the keys to my friend nearby. We really appreciated his trust in us as first timer's of airbnb. The apartment is well worn, but perfectly provides everything you could need. Amenities are as listed. I liked the bare walls of the room. The train was not a bother. A great location and price. I would stay here again!

  • Sebastian is very easy going. This place is great for the hipster with Bedford ave right around the corner.
This place is old and is up three flights of stairs, two things which I call character.
The subway is 2 blocks away which was a huge plus for our five day stay.
The price is right, which is why we picked this place in the first place.
    Cheers!

About
I am originally from Montreal and I am living in New York City for over ten years. I am a composer and musician but I not only travel for work, but for the love of traveling also. I like living in this apartment, and with roommates. There has always been a peaceful and open atmosphere wether one wants to be social or to stay quiet. I have traveled a lot in my life. I still do, and I enjoy discovering new places just as much as retaining the little comforts ... great coffee, clean clothes, showers ... after all, visiting New York City is not camping!
