Excellent and very friendly communication with Sophie and Anna from the managing agents on the island. We had some problems with the swimming pool and water supply but these were sorted out VERY quickly by Anna and it did not affect our holiday at all. The house is beautifully built and the view is just as good, if not better, than the pictures. The local bar (Sweet T's - excellent ice cream) is just about walkable but you really do need a car for the short drive to a range of bars and restaurants. We would recommend Trappas restaurant for dinner and Skullduggery bar for a casual breakfast but there are plenty of local options. Pillars restaurant very good for special dinner. Titi car rental as recommended by the house owners were very friendly and helpful; they only took 40 minutes to come and rescue us from the other side of the island when we were stranded with 2 flat tyres
The Starr House is a real gem! It was more beautiful than the pictures! A perfect place to return to after a day on the beautiful Antiguan waters! The house is immaculate and had a fresh and airy feel to it. The breezes are exquisite, especially with all the doors and windows open! The view was spectacular and we enjoyed our meals on the deck overlooking it. The house was equipped with everything we needed. The hosts provided detailed information on the island including restaurants, beaches, directions, etc. This information proved to be invaluable! I would gladly go back!
First off a huge thank you to Nicky and Darryl for this beautiful villa. Not only does it look exactly like the photos and description provided (a rarity these days) but it's in a wonderful location with English Harbour, Falmouth, Nelsons Dockyard and the beautiful Pigeon beach a short drive away.
We hired a car through Titi - recommended by Nicky, and he was waiting promptly at the airport to collect us and drove us to Starr house - a hassle free way to start your holiday! He also arranged to drive us back to the airport and Anna from the local
Lettings Agency was waiting to check us in and let us know that if we had any problems we could give her a call.
There was a great list of things to do and places to see left in the villa for us to pursue at our will.
The villa was well stocked out with beach and pool towels as well as cool bags for when you head down to the beach.
I can't praise this villa and the hosts enough. I'd recommend it to anyone. If I'm ever in Antigua again I'll be sure to come back to Starr House!

Daryl was helpful and happy to answer our questions ahead of our visit. The house itself was perfect, even more amazing than the pictures. The view of Falmouth is great. We were slightly worried that we might need aircon, but the house is light and airy and the constant breeze and ceiling fans kept it very comfortable even on the hottest days. There's plenty of shade outside too for when the sun gets too hot for sunbathing.
We had a few mosquitos, but we found that if we kept the external lights off at night and the doors closed at dawn and dusk (all windows have screens) they weren't too much trouble and could be easily dealt with using the zapper supplied. The kitchen had everything we needed.
We hired a 4WD from Titi who met us at the airport and took us to the house - this was a big help because with few road signs it can be difficult finding your way around when you first arrive. We were unsure whether to get a 4WD or a normal car but on balance we think we made the right decision because although in general the roads were okay (as long as you keep an eye out for the many large potholes), several times we wanted to go to places which you could only get to on extremely rough gravel/rock/sand tracks and it was reassuring to know that we had that little bit more clearance when we needed it.
Baileys the local supermarket is only small but had almost everything we needed, even tofu and dried soya pieces (My wife's vegetarian), and they take credit cards too. The large supermarket 'Epicurean' just north of St John is massive even by UK standards and has lots of American and UK products including Quorn and other meat substitute products. Veggie World (Upper Redcliffe Street in St John) has more veggie stuff. Sweeties sells the most amazing ice cream and is just next door to Baileys.
We're already missing the trips to Pigeon Beach for snorkelling, lazy days by the pool, and watching the little birds of Antigua visiting (we even had a hummingbird come to say hi).
Thanks to Anna and Titi, hope we didn't bother her too much with questions.
It was incredibly difficult to find fault with this place and in fact we couldn't! A beautifully designed home which is spacious and airy. The views are stunning and continually changing with the boats coming in and out of the harbour.
Antigua has lots to offer and Darryl and Nicky have taken time to write their take, on things to do and places to eat. Again these instructions were detailed and accurate which really took the hassle out of holiday for us. This part of the island has a lot to offer and we would return to Starr house in a heartbeat given the chance. Thank you Darryl and Nicky. Best wishes, Nadira & Mark
We didn't really think that there was any way that the pictures and descriptions of this house would match up to the reality but it really does. The location is perfect, if you hire a car it is incredibly easy to access the whole island and if not there is lots in English Harbour that is only a short taxi ride away.
The house was excellent, everything you could need, lovely facilities, great rooms etc. The pool was lovely to come home to every evening and the deck was just bliss every evening.
All communication was really easy with the Starrs and Anna was a great help when we got there.
If you're heading to Antigua I would highly recommend this house!
Beautiful house in a wonderful setting overlooking the harbour. Very well equipped, clean, spacious and luxurious. A most enjoyable vacation.
