We've spent our Christmas holidays at Alessandro's apartment, where we have had a great time. The apartment is very well located, close to everything and very warm in these cold winter days. As other members say, the building maintenance could be better, but the apartment was clean, at nights (we were out the rest of the time) really quiet and the comunication with Alessandro very easy and quick.
We have to thank him (thousand times) for letting us stay at the apartment until 7pm in the evening our last day, because our flight was late at night. We would definetly come back to this aparment in a new trip to New York.
As someone said, The Ride Quick (just round the corner) is the cheapest way to the airport by car.
Thanks for everything, Alessandro!!
It was a very nice and comfortable apartment with a very good traffic connection. We spend some fantastic days there. Alessandro was very friendly and helpful and answered emails pretty quickly. I can recommend this apartment a lot and I would go there again.
Appartement calme, lumineux et idéalement placé. Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine.
Our first time using Airbnb also, so I checked all the reviews.
We met Alessandro just 1 minute on our check in. He was polite and very kind. Answered all of our questions.
As everybody says: 6th floor, 100% chinatown, 1 1/2 blocks from subway. 10 blocks from SoHo!
Elevator worked ok; TV didn't work but the less we wanted to do was watch TV. WIFI great. The app was clean.
I wasn't very sure about the neighborhood at late nights but I felt very safe at all times. Also, lot of noise in the streets but at night very calm so we had no problem to sleep.
we''ll definetly come back here our next time in NYC! Thanks Alessandro and Maurizio.
(also, just around the corner is "quick ride" the best and cheapest cab service to JFK)
This was my first time using Airbnb and I was very satisfied by Alessandro's place. It is situated in China town area and easy access to public transportation.
The apartment is as described, clean and very quiet.
It is on the 6th floor with elevator access.
But the rest of the building seems to lack some maintenance.
Alessandro is very prompt to answer my questions beforehand. There was some misunderstanding on the checkout time.
Overall a very good experience and I will recommend it anytime
Fantastic place, and great location. The place was a great size. Alessandro was really good at communicating, and checkin/checkout was a very easy process. Thanks!
I initially booked this particular Air B&B because it was centrally located and had solid reviews. I wish I could rate my experience higher but a few things happened that impacted my overall experience and rating. I booked this apartment for my mom, sister and I. It was my mom's first time in NYC but I visit quite often. The apartment was pretty much what I expected, decent size but pretty old. The TV was not working, which isn't a huge deal, just something to note. Also no internet. My mother and my sister arrived first. They were there for only about 10 minutes and two men unlocked the door and walked in, claiming to be staying at the apartment. This obviously startled my mother and sister and they had to explain to these strangers that they paid to stay at the unit. The men left without any issues and shortly after I called Alessandro to ask about the situation. He was polite about it and explained they were his friends. Needless to say it was not the best way to start off our stay in the apartment. The elevator in the building was broken, and we were staying on the 6th floor. The entire building was run down (also something I expected, just be prepared for it). After spending most of our day out and about, we came home to sleep. As I got into bed I suddenly heard blaring music. It was so loud my sister thought it was a radio playing in the apartment. This went on well into the morning hours. Thankfully I was able to get some sleep. The times I spoke to Alessandro he seemed very pleasant and some of the things (elevator, loud music) were out of his control, I just have to give an honest review.
Alessandro is attentive and works to make your stay happy. The area and apartment are run down, but gives you a good NYC experience. We felt safe. The location is very good: we walked to the Brooklyn Bridge, Southport, Union Square, etc. and subway is not far.
Alessandro is a great host who was most accommodating when we had to check out later than expected. The location of the apartment is ideal with the subway, Whole Foods, great cafés on Broome St, local restaurants and SoHo only a few minutes away. There is also an Internet cafe and a laundromat on the same block which was most helpful. My only cons about this place were the very squeaky bed (which meant an awful sleep), the non- functioning TV, lack of wi-fi, the not so clean bath mat and towels (I have learned to always pack my own) and the general culture of Chinatown with locals spitting and cleaning their noses like it was going out of fashion. My stay at this apartment did not have the least affect on my overall visit to NYC and that is probably the most important thing to remember. I wanted somewhere that was close to public transport, had a bed and my own private bathroom and a place which was affordable for budget travellers. For the most part, we got what we paid for.
The place was OK. It was my first AirBNB experience and I can't say I was totally impressed. Alessandro was nothing but polite. I give my experience with him an A+. He was prompt to reply to everything and the whole transaction went very smoothly. He gets 5 stars.
My main issue was with the space. The building was super run down. The neighborhood was far from nice, but it didn't feel dangerous. Your typical Chinatown what have you's... Dirty. Smelly. Etc. The actual apartment was nicer than it's surroundings, but again, just OK at best. Uncomfortable bed. Really old linens. Stained towels (they smelled clean, just looked dirty).
If given the option to stay again I would more than likely opt to pay more to stay in a hotel. If you're not very picky I'm sure this place would suit your needs. Alessandro is great. In my opinion I just think the place could use a little more TLC.
