About this listing
Small cozy room with twin size bed has free wifi, a nice desk and chair, lamp, and a wardrobe. The squirrels and birds will greet you out the window. Long term rates make it very affordable. I have a 30 day minimum but am very flexible.
Sunny furnished room in large house across from large park. Includes heat, electric, hot & cold water, and wifi. Furnishings include twin size bed, desk, chair, bureau, and lamp. A wardrobe closet holds plenty of storage. Non-smoking, clean, quiet, well-maintained house on a quiet street. Quiet, resourcefulness, and independence important. It is a five minute car or bus ride to the University of Pennsylvania and only 10 minutes to downtown. Plenty of free street parking (very rare in the city), lovely park directly across the street. The 42 bus conveniently picks up at 51st & Spruce. Also, the 52 bus will take you to the high speed rail to center in record time. Laundry service available for a small fee.
The neighborhood is University City and is full of fun and exciting things to do. I will recommend many things to make your stay enjoyable and edifying.

Anita was a very welcoming host, she offered to settle down in a bigger room with own bathroom, which was really great. Because of bad experience in past, I didn't agree to her special offer online with same price and I'm sorry - what I'm writing now, is about another room in the same house. The room came with two windows to courtyard, full of sunlight and with the lovely view where the birds sang sweetly and the funny little squirrels were jumping over the trees.
Actually, the neighborhood is Cobbs Creek, not University City and it's 10 minutes walk to 52th Staion that takes you (for example) to the station near City Hall in 10 minutes.
When I was booking, the price was the lowest, it's a very good choice when you want to economy money on housing.
Anita made me feel very welcome and was always available when I needed help. The area around her place had plenty of free street parking, which I was thankful for because I was traveling in a rental car. Additional bonus: adorable cats!
I am very happy with everything, cozy, warm, nice house. The hosts are very welcoming and pleasant to talk.
I had a good time in the room. The room is very quiet and if you love cats you can let your door open and they will give you a hug in your sleep, really funny.
The house is located in a quiet and safe area, with bus and transportation close to the place.
Anita let me the key before I arrived and she answers me quickly by email.
I would recommend it !
Great experience, room was as described. Anita is a kind and welcoming host. She gave me anything I needed. Though a bit forgetful, Anita was very helpful. During my stay it was really quiet and warm in the house. The walls were not fully finished and the furniture was a bit awkward, but it did what it should. The kitchen in nice, with some kitchenware available if you need one. The cats are friendly and it is easy to keep them out of your room if you feel uncomfortable. Of course you shouldn't stay here if you want to spent most time indoors. But it is really great place to stay for a while or even to live for a long time for a job or studying purposes.
The location is pretty not bad. It would not be a good idea to walk around alone at night, but during the day it was totally fine. The house is 10-15 min walking from the Market str, where you can find metro and buses (and buy tokens!). There is a nice inexpensive takeout pizzeria only 50m away from the house. In general, I should recommend Anita as a great host and her house as a great place to stay in Philadelphia.
Hey Andrey, it was great having you as a guest. I hope its okay if I point out that the area is safe, day or night. There has never been a problem, but of course, everyone should do what they feel comfortable with. I recommend the 42 bus not the Market Street stop in my listing for that reason. And one more thing I noticed just now, was how you experienced my trying to remember too many things. I am sorry that interfered with your experience. I have addressed that issue coincidentally and have changed it to minimum 31 day stays in my listings. This has made it so much easier for everyone involved. In the future, I might re-evaluate those terms, and certainly, always willing to be uber-flexible, except for one or two night reservations. Good to hear you enjoyed it nonetheless! Thanks!
Staying at Anita's place was simple, she's communicative and seems like a very nice person, we spoke on the phone but never had time to meet. I stayed in my room for two nights. The room was clean and it had everything I needed, newly made bed, WiFi, soap and towel. I gladly recommend Anita and her place to anyone (unless you are disabled, it's on the 3rd floor) whose looking for a quiet, cozy room.
Anita was a friendly host and organised everything for me nicely! we had good chats about things and made me feel right at home. The house is nice and the renovations are coming along nicely! thanks again! would recommend to anyone!

About the Host, Anita
I am originally from New Jersey, and I am an artist, so I enjoy looking at art and creating it. I also love reading, writing, antiques, dancing, and music. That is just to name a few.
My father was a neurologist, originally from Italy, so I grew up with an appreciation of different cultures, as well as, a passion for art and science. My mother was an American artist, which made for an interesting life.
