The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is fantastic, the best in manhattan if you are not familiar. VERY safe. 1/2 block to Tompkins Square Park which is a great place to hang out and people watch, great restaurants, bars etc… Subway is L, F or short walk to NR, or 6.

My block(10th between 1st and A) has a great vibe. Full of energy it's the "health street": A raw food restaurant, the Juice Press, Gluten free bakery etc.. and directly across the street is the famous Russian Turkish Baths which has been in operation since 1890.

There is a Citibike station a half block away. NYCs bikeshare program. It's $10 a day or $25 a week.

  • Bay's place is great! Compact and bijou, but clean and tidy, and has everything you need as well as all the right ingredients to 'live like a local' for a few days in NY! East Village is really cool and quirky and makes for a perfect base to explore the city and lots great restaurants, cafes and bars really close. Although we never actually met in person, Bay is a very organised host -- from the moment I made the reservation everything ran like clockwork. Would take Bay’s place over a plush corporate 5* hotel any day!

  • Bay's apartment was a really nice place. Clean, comfortable, with all the commodities. Really well situated in a quiet street. It was perfect for a trip in NYC. Bay is a really great host. Always answering quickly about anything you need. Really easy to get the keys and check out. I really recommend Bay's place.

  • Comfy room, wonderful Japanese and other restaurants and bars around! Bay is a nice person! Willing to stay for the next trip! However the water in the shower was unpredicatable and the 5 level of stairs were tiring, but overall very clean place.

  • Bay's place is in the heart of the East Village/Alphabet City. Great location for a stay in the city. The apartment was clean and contained everything we needed for a weekend stay. I would stay here again.

  • My daughter and I stayed in this wonderful sunny happy home after a few disappointments . It is exactly as advertised even nicer when your in the lovely comfy bed. The sofa too is great to sleep on.
Bay was the best host I've encountered quick to reply, friendly and very smooth checkin.
It was a pleasure to stay in his quiet gem and I will be staying there again soon.

  • Bay's apartment was exactly what i expected by reading his description and the reviews. Great location, very clean, great mattress- i slept like a baby and woke up to a sunny room. The neighborhood is very fun and full of nice restaurants and bars.
Bay was very thoughtful and flexible with checkin and out.
He responded quickly and with a smile to any request.
Highly recommended- both Bay and the apartment.

  • We had a great time at Bay's Lower East Side apartment. It's a great, vibrant area, active to all hours. Fortunately, his unit is in the back so very quiet, especially for NYC. Bed and unit as a whole are very comfortable, Towels and linens were high quality, a nice touch. The shower water temp is unpredictable -- but i just imagine what those tenements were like in the old days when there were probably 12 people sharing those two rooms. Makes me appreciate all that we have.

The 5th floor walk-up helped compensate for all the delicious food we ate in NYC. : ) Would definitely visit again.

About
I am a graphic designer, art director, musician, surfer. I grew up in LA and lived in San Fran bay area for many years. I think I am super friendly and I like to be helpful so ask me anything about NYC, or I can also be totally out of the picture :) I go to Montauk a lot in the summer so that is perhaps where I am when you are staying at my place!
