Very nice location: food market, Aventin hill and Trastevere are just around the corner. The flat was as in the picture. Regretfully, I have not met Vadim, but arrival and check out were smooth.
Vadim was very friendly and hospitable. I had the place to myself and it was clean and comfortable. There was more than enough room for two or three people. The complex was gated so even though I was by myself I felt pretty safe. 10-15 min walk to Stazione Trastevere, or 5 mins by bus. Bus stop right around the corner from the apt and a market right across the street. I would love to stay here again!
I was welcomed very friendly by a friend of Vadim who lives in the area. Later Vadim showed up and introduced me to the flat. Spacious room, great area - everything was fine!
Great place to stay. Pictures are as the actual place is. Lovely to be in Testaccio. A bit far from main Roma spots but easily with Metro or Bus you can get there. And if you like to walk is perfect because you see better the city. Everything was clean, and confortable. Nice reception as well, very kind and attentive.
I loved my apartment in Rome! Alvise now lives in an apartment around the corner so I had the place to myself. I was in Rome for 3 weeks doing a language course, so it was great to be able to come back after the course and sightseeing and know that I could just chill out there, and that I had full use of the kitchen and bathroom and so on. There is also a washing machine which was really handy. I found the bed really comfy, the street was usually quiet and it had everything I needed. The only thing I didn't understand was why the heating was never on in the morning (only the evening) but I guess this is controlled centrally for the whole block, and it was never really a cold apartment even in February.
Alvise met me when I arrived, showed me how things worked in the apartment and took me on a quick tour of the local area pointing out the cinema, local bars, restaurants and supermarkets. He got back to me quickly with any questions I had during my stay. Also Alvise's Mum (who lives upstairs) came down every few days to check everything was ok, but I guess this would only happen if you were staying for quite a long time like I did.
The area (Testaccio) is really a local's area, so has a different (calmer??) feel to the busy centre, but you are only about 30 mins by foot into the historic centre of Rome, and there are plenty of buses which you can get too. The local metro/ train station (Piramide/ Porta San Paolo and Ostiense) are really close by too - Porta San Paolo will get you to Ostia Antica which I can recommend as a really good days sightseeing. The new Testaccio market is on the same street as the apartment and is really worth a visit (or two).
Because I was there on my own I was not really going out to the bars and restaurants so much, but the bars and restaurants in the area did look good and I can recommend the takeaway pizza from Piatto Romano (just down the road).
All in all a really good stay and I was very sad when it came to an end!
A nice room in a pleasant area of Rome (not the Rome of tourists, but of the Romans), just in front of the local market, and 2 minutes from the MACRO testaccio. For me a convenient location, because I had to visit archives on the Aventine hill. Good facilities and nice places to eat in the neighbourhood. Very friendly welcome. Mrs Masto greatly helped me when I forgot my bag somewhere along the Via Appia Antica, we drove back in her car, and miraculously the bag was still there!
