HOUSE RULE #1:
If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun; leave no trace.
Great location no problem getting into I the loft even though we arrived super late everything was as described. The only note is just that it was super hot I wish you guys had more fans. Thanks again :-)
Mac was not there (looking at other reviews, it doesn't look like he ever is!), June his neighbour was really helpful, even though our flight was late. The apartment's location couldn't be better, close to everything you could want.
The flat was clean and spacious, but it wasn't comfortable. The beds were really hard; the curtains didn't fit so it was light early (hard on the jet lag) and the aircon wasn't really doing the job. The shower only gave out hot water which was also tough in the summer! All in all the apartment was fine, but it didn't feel like someone's home and we couldn't have stayed more than the 4 days we did.
Had a lovely time. Flat is just like shown on pictures..very bright with air conditioning.7/8 blocks away from Bedford Ave station..June has been very helpful. One small problem though : the water of the shower which was way too hot..
Willamsburg was a great area to calm down after a hectic day in Manhattan. I´d never thought it could be that relaxed so close. The apartment was an "out of the square box" place, which is difficult to find for a tourist. We really enjoyed the opportunity to stay there. It had it´s own personality.
Apartment was great; the real Brooklyn! June, hostess, was great. She had ac running as it was hot. Amenities were good. Location excellent.
If you want to experience NYC/Brooklyn, this is the spot.
Also, Citibike, thirty bucks for a week of bike sharing has several locations close by. You get the bikes for a limited time, but can dock them and take another right away.
Even though Mac wasn't there to greet us, his neighbor June was awesome. Very prompt, polite and helpful. She let us into the building, described the tenants living there and instructed us on the many keys and operations of the elevator, and doors in and out of the apartment.
The neighborhood was just as expected. Good food and a solid bodega within the block's radius.
About the Host, Mac
There are people that live in New York and then there are New Yorkers. Fun and friendly, worldly and wise, native New Yorkers don't just point out things to see, they help you experience them. There are cities in the world that are richer, cleaner and more beautiful but none with as much heart and citizens as hearty. The real charm of New York can't be found in a guide book or delivered from a transplant; the real charm lies in the soul of the natives. Pick your host like you pick your fruit: local and organic.
