My bf and i stayed at Gusde's place for 3 nights and we absolutely loved our stay. Gusde and his family was very welcoming and never once we felt like a stranger, they made sure we were properly taken care of. If you want a real local Balinese experience, staying with Gusde would be a perfect experience for you.
The room was very clean, we were surprised to receive such great service equivalent to hotel service, to find our beds and room cleaned daily, towels were replaced daily. Breakfast every morning was amazing, the menu is different daily, cooking are the best, we really loved our breakfast. Room faces the padi rice field but during our stay, the field have been harvested, a few banana trees block the view of the field from the bed. I wouldn't say this is a bad point, we quite like the set-up still. This is exactly the kind of countryside that we want to experience, so it was perfect. As it was the world cup season and we really wanted to catch one of the matches, Gusde has kindly invited us to join his dad and son for TV the games, much to our delight. One morning we woke up with ladies busy in the courtyard outside our room preparing for a ceremonial, and it was really interesting to be part of this. It was a regret leaving his place, we enjoyed it so much, and felt very much part of the family. We would stay with Gusde if we have the chance again =)
We had the privilege of staying at The Most Beautiful Balinese house in the village of Mas, Ubud in June 2014 for a period of one week. Believe me when I say that this place is magical, for the beautiful sculptures and Balinese artwork are all over the place and you will feel like you are in a palace with the king as your host. Tune into the sound of the birds (caged though/and I did not have the guts to let set them free/ and if you can ignore this omission) you can have a hint of what paradise feels like.
Gusde and his family made us feel very welcome and part of their family. He is a humble host who is actively involved in his community's welfare. Don't be afraid to strike an intellectual conversation with this gentleman for he has seen a thing or two.
This place will charge your batteries and make you feel completely decompressed. It is a few kilometres away from Ubud but it would take the host only a few minutes to arrange a free transport every time we needed one.
If you want to experience a true Balinese atmosphere look no where else.
Thank you Dear Gusde and your family.
Staying at Gusde's house was nice because you get away from the busy-crowed center of Ubud; we enjoyed the nature and the quiet nights over there.
The room was clean and spacious. The staff is really welcoming; they managed to drop us and pick us up in Ubud.
They also organized for us a tour around Ubud, so we were able to see the most important attractions in one day.
My husband and I found Gusde House to be lovely. The room was light and airy and everything was clean and tidy. Air conditioning was good. The staff was very friendly and professional and helped us with transportation from the airport as well as to our destination after Ubud. The house is a ways outside of downtown Ubud, so if you are looking for a quieter area that isn't right by all of the action, this is a good spot. If you like being able to walk just a few minutes and have access to shops and restaurants, this isn't the place to stay. With that being said, staff was very flexible about driving us into town when we wanted to go- you just have to plan ahead a little to be considerate of their schedules. Our only complaints about the actual place were that 1. mosquitoes easily came in through cracks in the bathroom window shutters so we were regularly smacking at bugs and spraying ourselves with bug spray inside 2. Construction of a new building is going on right next to the (small) pool, so relaxing out there to the sound of saws and hammers wasn't ideal. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
Thank you so much for your kind hospitality during our short but memorable stay at Ubud. It was so peaceful and relaxing made possible by your team.
Our host Gusde and family are very hospitable. I really enjoyed the conversation with Gusde and to understand more about the Balinese culture. The experience was amazing when we actually lived in a Balinese Compound together with the host and his family. The house is beautifully crafted and clean. The helpers really showed us the warmth spirit of Balinese. Transportation is provided to Ubud Centre which is about 10 minutes away and we can also catch transport back from Gusde's restaurant. Myself and my fiancee really enjoyed the whole experience and we will definitely come back to stay in Ubud again.
New Cottage in Rice Paddy with Pool was our second place in Bali, after seeing lovely Balangan beaches we were pleased to see more lovely things around Ubud.
Having rice field visible through the window was really awesome experience.
We didn't have much time there - only two nights, but the stuff helped us a lot with planning our days there. They even organized amazing trip for us, so we could see famous temples, rice fields, vulcans, and awesome plantation where we could taste cinnamon directly from the tree! We've seen lots of growing spices, tried different kinds of tea and coffee (including Luwak coffee!). It was really great.
Also transport to Ubud was really great organized - you are dropped of where you want and for how long you want - you just go to the specific restaurant and tell that you want to go home and the driver come after few minutes to take you back home. Really good idea.
The room was kept clean and we were provided with the water, even the one for brushing our teeth.
And having air conditioning was really great :)
I definitely recommend this place.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. Wonderful host and staffs! However, it's really not easy to find this place especially at night. Our driver drove around abit before finding it. Just remember it's very near sankara (a popular resort in Ubud)
Gusde and staff were waiting at the door for us when we arrive. The villa we stayed in was actually a 2-bedroom villa but since only 2 of us are staying, he locked the 2nd floor bedroom. The room was quite cosy and comfortable. But the air-con was a little noisy and it gets a little hot sometimes since it's behind the wall of our bed. The bathroom was quite big and clean but it's a little inconvenient when the sink is not in the bathroom. The pool is quite dirty with some dead mosquitoes so i don't really enjoy the pool alot. Just remember to be prepared with repellents! Overall, the room is good if you are not too particular with the details.
Service matters more to us and we were really happy with their service! Especially the manager, Wayan! A very nice guy with his trademark words, "Yes, please". Even tho the villa is really not very well located, we get shuttle service everyday. And Gusde owns a restaurant in the city centre, Bali Pesto cafe. It's quite nice, try the duck there!
All in all, we enjoyed our stay here! :D
We stayed at Gusde's house for 3 nights and had a very pleasant time. Gusde and his team were very attentive and considerate about our well-being. The breakfast offered was simply great and so was the room. We can definitely recommend Gusde's home for a authentic experience in a traditional Balinese compound.
