About this listing
Our 1 bedroom cottage is located in Haiku on the North Shore of Maui. In the heart of our farm, our cottage built on poles overlooks a water lily pond. From the Lanai that surrounds the cottage you see the Pacific ocean that lays a mile down the road.
The bedroom features a queen size bed while a mezzanine offers a sleeping area good for a child. The mediterranean style bathroom and the full kitchen on the covered lanai make this place very comfortable and hard to leave!
Our farm is very quiet and private with very few houses around. The little town of Paia with its numerous restaurants, bars and shops is a 10 to 15 mn drive away while world famous Hookipa surfing beach is a 10 mn away. Going the other way on Hana Hwy is the jungle side of Maui with numerous water falls and hikes.
We all share the garden and the barn that offers a office to which guests have access to. They can use the desk inside or the table outside that usually has a better internet connection than the cottage.
Interaction with guests
When on property we will be glad to offer any assistance we can.
Our neighborhood is made of single houses on agricultural land so the population density is low which is why our area is very quiet.
There is no public transport in the area so a car is mandatory but there is a nice walk to take from the cottage all the way down to the bottom of the street, looking at the ocean from the cliff.
Other things to note
We have a 6 nights minimum stay between December 20th and January 5th, otherwise it is 3 nights minimum unless we have a 2 nights opening between 2 reservations.
We try to recycle as much as we can so we expect our guests to use the recycling boxes for glass, plastic bottles, cardboard and aluminum containers.
We also have a compost disposal in the garden that guest can use.
Originally from France, we moved to Maui Hawaii to become professional windsurfers. We have been living our dream for the last 20 years, traveling the world in search of perfect waves and enlightening experiences to produce travel stories for magazines and documentaries for the web & TV. This path has taken us to remote places like the Marshall islands, Chagos archipelago, West Papua, Christmas Island or Timor. Traveling with our 2 daughters; Lou, 10 years old and Shadé, 4 has allowed for a more conscious world view that make us raise awareness on environmental challenges that we witness around the world.
On a daily basis we try to adopt a sustainable lifestyle here at the farm by growing some food, composting, recycling as much as we can to better enjoy our beautiful island of Maui that we will be happy to share with you,
Emmanuel, Carine, Lou & Shadé
