We have 3 bedrooms, currently set up as a double which is ensuite and then a double and a twin which share a bathroom. All rooms can accomodate an additional single bed if required. They all have their own TV but there's also a guests only TV lounge, and you have full access to the kitchen/diner. We also have a lovely conservatory with views over Strathnairn. We're in the middle of a field, with a half mile track between us and the village shop, which is also where the bus to Inverness goes. It's about 9 miles but it's your best bet for eating out, although there are a couple of bars/restaurants about 6 or 7 miles away which provide very good food.
The property is pleasant but nothing fancy, we just like guests to make themselves at home and be comfortable. I leave cereals, bread, fruit, yoghurt, milk and fruit juice in the kitchen for you to help yourself to.
Birch Cottage is the perfect rural retreat but it's within close enough range of Inverness and all the sights the Highlands has to offer as to be perfectly placed. We also have fantastic light here so it would make a great place to come and paint - the landscape never fails to cause joy - even on a rainy day it has its own beauty.
We may be able to accomodate pets but please bear in mind we have a cat on sight.
We request that guests don't smoke in the house, but there are plenty of ashtrays for outside (under cover happily!)
I've put check in as 6pm or later because that gives me time to get home from work and change the beds from the previous night before you get there, but should you want to check in earlier just let us know as my partner Paul is sometimes around and he does change beds if he has to!

We only ask that guests respect any other guests in the property at the time, and that they clean up after themselves if they use the kitchen facilities.
Louise's house is very lovely and classic. We feel free and comfortable to use everything. The scenery of the surrounding is beautiful, and the heating is very good.
Louise is very nice and we feel very warm and sincerely.
The kitchen is furnished and full equiped.
She prepared breadfast as well with milk/bread.
We feel wonderful which we chose this house.
We had a lovely time in Louise's peaceful idyl. Comfy bed, yummy breakfast and a generally relaxing stay. We made the mistake of not picking up food before hand (and turning up quite late!) word of warning to other travellers- pick up some grub in Inverness and Louise really is in a beautiful secluded spot. Thanks for your hospitality Louise :-)

It was everything perfect, Louise was so kind with us. The house has everything we needed also for the breakfast!
The rooms so confortable and clean!
We had a great experience. The owners were absolutely lovely. We had a medium sized dog that they have let us keep with us. The property itself is very nice, neat and tidy.
Louise greeted us warmly on our arrival. The rooms were nice and the kitchen was well stocked for Breakfast.
We were visiting in winter and we found the house freezing cold despite the heating within the house being on.
The wifi was patchy with only a weak signal in one bedroom.

I'm enjoying life in our lovely log cabin in the garden of Birch Cottage with its glorious views over Strathnairn, where I live with Paul who's an archer. I'm very comfy in jeans, jumper and wellies but love to dress up on occasion too. I work full time as an Occupational Therapist, and as well as running the cottage for Airbnb guests I also have a paint-your-own-pottery business. When I'm not busy with all of that I like to read and watch movies. We inherited a cat with the cottage and I'm enjoying having her around although she's pretty noisy!
We're very relaxed here and because we don't live in the house itself it's easy for guests to relax too. We come in to change beds, do washing, clean etc, but otherwise you have the place to yourselves. We have three rooms, each with their own TV but there's also a TV lounge, a big kitchen with a dining table, and a lovely conservatory. We also have a BBQ grill you'd be welcome to use on a sunny evening.
