The Space

Beautifull historical schip build in 1930. Just completely renovated . everything has been done. Floor ceiling and walls is all real wood. kitchen and bedstee is cherry wood . there is a fire place . and your own back deck is suitable for many persons to sit in the evening sun. You Have your own ship nobody is comming on board accept you and your friends. fully equipt: Shower, seperatre toilet, central heating, terras , nespresso, fridge , cooking stove, etc. etc.

Just five minutes from central station. when you come out of the central station you want to go right ( west ) you will come in to the nice shopping street. the Haarlemmerstraat. in this street you will find everything . cozy restaurants bars . shops coffeshops. bagelshops . this is the most cozy shopping street of Amsterdam . very famous for Amsterdam People. and not so much known for toerists. In a side canal to the right you will find your own houseboat. built in 1930.
It is made comfi with a nice fire place, continuous warm water, bathroom with toilet and separate a shower, the whole boat is for your group only . 1 Seperate bedroom in front of the boat with romantic round windows, and 1 bedstee in the living room and for one or two extra people is the comfi sleeping sofa.
Bring your own towels for the shower ( because people use a lot of towels when it is included i stoped doing that for enviromentel reasons)
bed linnen is included .
on this locations are no bikes included the nearest bike shop is :
(website hidden)
Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 146
(phone number hidden)

on my boat you will get 100% privacy. nobody will bother you, not even me, I will only come when you call me on my mobile. Otherwise you just have fun on my boat . Don't leave a mess and you can even check out without me. just leave the keys on the boat.

Also possible: to rent a 4/6 people motorboat for the whole day, with outboard motor. €80 ,- including petrol. So you can visit the canals of Amsterdam, Whole day and night ! with your own boat. you are in your private harbor, with your own terras to enjoy the sun or have a breakfast outside or even your diner.

We also have a transport service for schiphol . We can get all your luggage plus 5 persons from the airport for €35,- total . call me at least one day ahead if you want this(phone number hidden) ( or try to call me when you are at the airport or in the city )

Guest Access

you have the whole ship for yourself . there is an electronic gate and there is also the harbor chef. dont make noise on the water when you walk over the wooden path to the ship bacause water carries the sound very far. in the ship it sis all yours also the backdeck is a nice terras to sit in the evening or morning sun .

Interaction with Guests

I willl not see you after the check in day .unless you call me or Helen you have the whole ship for yourself . it is 100% private ship .

The Neighborhood

you are close to a very famous shopping street called Haarlemmerstraat. everything is in that street ; restaurants , bars, cinema, coffeshops , and offcourse a lot off shops for clothing or anything else . there is a supermarket on the first corner and a bakkery . that street is so nice also for the local Amsterdam people they like this street the most for shopping and restaurants . and it is the north side of the canlas and the Jordaan area wich is famous as well.

Getting around

when you exit the central station you go ahead untill the first crossover there you go to the right and follow the road untill you hit a canal cross that one and go left and first right. that is the Haarlemmerstraat . follow that street untill half way you will see on the left corner the blue dutch supermarket; Albert Heijn on that corner you take a right, with the water on your right hand , go under the road, squash city on your lefdt , just follow the water untill you see the blue gate on the terras of "Bickers aande werf" restaurant . that is the entrence of the harbor.
There is no free parking in the area as it is in the city centre . and the parking is like €5,- per hour . we can bring your car close to my house in Amsterdam North where is free parking . but we have to arrenge that With Jacob who do most of the times the check in with you . he can also bring you and your car away to a good spot.
offcourse there is a very good tram system wich takes you everywhere you want to go . or rent a bike.

Other Things to Note

there is also a 6 persons motorboat which you can rent for cruising the canals . is realy nice to do for one day. you can arrenge this with Jacob as well.

  • The host was very helpful, checking in was not a problem. The place was nice and have almost everything we need. If you are looking into something different then a room. This would be the best choice Not To Be Missed

  • This was my first time staying on a houseboat. What a great experience! The boat was clean and Taco was a wonderful host. Follow his directions exactly and you'll get to the boat on a wonderful marina near the train station. (It was close enough that when we left, we walked to Central Train Station.)

Both ends of the boat are private enough that you can bring a friend and not feel like you are right up on them. The kitchen, dining area, toilet were nice. The shower felt a little odd with a glass door onto the kitchen, but that is the nature of the space and was easy to get used to. The outside deck was a beautiful place to sit and sip coffee.

Taco is a wonder host. He was patient with our situation - we were delayed until 10 pm because of an air traffic controllers' strike. Taco was attentive, but not annoying - avaliable but not in the way.

I want to go back and stay here again. If you are going to Amsterdam, stay here.

A refaire.

  • We spent a lovely night watching the stars on top of the boat. Super romantic. Thank you Taco

  • So this was the first and hopefully the last negative experience I had travelling through airbnb.
Upon arrival all seemed fine, we were greeted by a cheerful girl Helena, showed the boat and off we went. Once in the boat, things started to go down hill. .. as far as I appreciate the boat being old and the furniture tatty and things falling apart, I do not however, weeks old dirt! The place was filthy and clearly has not been cleaned at all, which is not something that should have been overlooked! Quite frankly, so much dirt could not have been. ..
Secondly, Helena gave us a mobile number which was invalid which I soon found out when experienced troubles with the heating on day one. I telephoned the number provided by Taco (who by the way we had no pleasure meeting or hearing from throughout the stay) there was no answer but I left a voice mail clearly stating we had troubles with the heating and that were unable to contact Helena as she gave us an invalid phone number. After a while of hearing nothing from them I managed to work the heating and kindly left a message confirming. On daytwo hhowever, the heating once again did not fire up and once again it was impossible to get hold of anyone yet again! Left voice mail and spent the night freezing cold which resulted in me getting ill.
On the day of our departure, an hour before the official check out time, the girl appeared again to say we have to get out in an hour. I said that there must be a misunderstanding of some sort as I arranged with Taco a late check out and showed her the messages we exchanged. I also said that as much as I am probably the most understanding and least demanding guest one can hope for, more than an hour notice of Tacos sudden change of heart would be decent considering the lack of any kind of service he failed to provide up to that point.
With no apology or any kind of care in the world the girl told us to leave the keys at the table and leave at 11 and no later than that.
    So we went.
I would also suggest that the advertising of the necessities provided is removed. There was none of that. What there was was a couple of tea bags and gone off milk clearly left by the previous guests. So if arriving late I would suggest getting anything you may need beforehand.
So far I had only good experiences travelling through airbnb, if you want yours to be a good one too, I would suggest staying clear away from here as there is plenty more decent choices out there.

    Response from Taco:

this is impossible. I never heard anything no complains or problems. with the check in or check out. I don't know why she is writing this negative review.
the phone numbers are correct . everybody uses this phonenumber written on the wall in the boat. the heating does work there is no problem there. and sure we leave tea and coffee there for the next custommers ( not used offcourse)
I have many people that are realy happy on that boat. so this is maybe a problem in Joanna.

  • This is a lovely boat situated in a wonderful central position. We had a great time both before going on our cycle trip around the country and afterwards when we stayed for a few days while looking around Amsterdam. Having hired bicycles made it very easy to get around town. (However, if you're not used to biking in busy cities, I would stay away from biking right in the centre at rush hour time!)
Thank you Taco. And Helen, who was there to welcome us.

  • Our stay at the houseboat was a great and unique experience. The communication with Taco was uncomplicated and quick. Helen was very nice and tried to solve intermittent problems immediately. When we first checked in, the heating didn't work and on our third day, there was no more water left in the water tank. We got through to Helen by phone everytime we tried and she was always nice and helpful.
Unfortunately internet wasn't available. Furthermore it was a pity that there weren't barely enough plates for five persons so we dicided having dinner in the city instead of eating on this wonderful old and neat boat.
The boat is also very close to the center of the city so you can walk.
Helen guided us to a free of charge parking lot, because you can't park the car near the houseboat without paying a lot of money.
All in all, we've had a fun time on the boat.

  • We enjoyed our brief stay on Taco's houseboat. It's very spacious with minimal amenities. The view from the deck is great. Helen was very helpful and helped us get aboard to leave our luggage prior to check-in time. It would have been nice to know that towels are not provided, and there is no wi-fi. All in all though, a fun time on the boat.
