  • My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Al Gelsomino. It was a nice, warm comfortable home to relax in after all the long days we spent exploring the city. Everything was perfect. We loved that Gabry included maps and suggested places to visit in Labaro.
The only thing I may suggest to people who are staying here, you may want to budget for a taxi when you first arrive. It's up a steep hill for about 1/2 a mile, and we had an exhausting time carrying our luggage. But then again, we're not used to the enormous hills & we were severely jet-lagged.
Overall, we definitely recommend staying here! We loved our experience!

  • Our stay at Al Gelsomino was very pleasant indeed. When we arrived in the area with our 2 yr old Grandson we were lost so I phoned Gabry to ask directions. Within 5 minutes she appeared in her car to find us. She offered to take us tot he supermarket - which was very kind of her. The apartment is very well appointed and very comfortable indeed. It was immaculately clean and beautifully firnished. The beds were comfortable and we slept very well. Gabry had left a lovely bowl of fruit, another bowl of chocolates as well as other breakfast food - again something we had not expected. The apartment felt very safe as it is a "Gated Community" and the grounds were beautifully kept. The smell of violets when we returned in the evenings was simply lovely.
We did not hire a car so took the public transport into the centre of Rome each day. We felt it was cheaper to buy a one day ticket than buy the Omnia Card (we had purchased it before leaving UK but I would not recommend anyone does that as it proved expensive). We managed to go to Porta di Roma Shopping Centre by bus; we went to Eataly by both bus and train; we went in search of Roscioli Bakery by bus and all worked out very well. However, after a busy day in Rome the climb up the very steep hill when we got back in the evening was very tiring.
I would heartily recommend this accommodation and especially this host. Her apartment is beautiful. She is very respectful of people's privacy but available should she be needed. On our final day we needed to book a taxi to the airport and she told us who to contact and then she, herself confirmed the details of our booking for us as we do not speak Italian. We appreciated her kindness in this too.
We hope to return to Rome sometime in the future and would certainly consider staying here again. Great value for money and so much more. Thank you Gabry.

  • Hi! Me and my family was staying here for 3 nights. It was easy to find the right street but I didn't find the proper house, since I arrived at late evening. So I called to Gabry and she advised me to wait until she and her husband will meet me. In a few minutes they met me. First of all I would like to note that hosts are very pleasant people. They speak English quite well, so it's absolutely no problem to communicate. They told me everything (really everything!) about the apartments, provided with detailed map of surroundings and answered all my questions. Also it was also pleasure to get an welcome fruit table in the apartments.
As to apartments - it's good size for us (4 adults and 1 child). There is double bed and sofa (good for 2 people). The apartments are stylish, what is also plus. It's pleasure to stay there.
I would definitely stay there once again, in case. So, I recommend it.
Important note: even don't try to drive to Rome center by car, especially in business days (Mo-Fr). I never seen traffic jam like that traffic. We spent about 1.5 hours to make about 10 km. But in holidays - there is no such problem. So, just go by train that is located in walking distance.

    Thanks!

  • Nice stay , with a warm welcome and lots of information given about the unit and the area . I was impressed by how clean and well kept apartment was and it's location !!! It was only 5 min walk to the station then about 15 min ride straight into the main station in Rome . Our car had secure on site parking and we didn't use it once . I lived the little added items like tea , coffee breakfast juice and bread for breakfast . The only problem got us was the internet was not good , it played up a fair bit and we needed it but if that's all I can complain about which isn't a bother if it's looked at by Gabriel . Would highly recommend this place . But just a tip for future reference our navigation system kept directing us the wrong way to the unit and we stuck because it's in a way one street and we went in circles when we first arrived ... so I hope this helps someone in the future !!!

  • Our stay in Rome was fantastic! For me and our boys (9 and 10) it was the first time. I'd love to go back and see even more of Rome! Our stay in this apartment was wonderful. Gabriella and her husband are very, very kind and considerate! I must say: most Romans we met on our trip were kind! Gabriella had bought enough things for breakfast which is very nice and handy when you arrive late, like we did. She also informed us about an upcoming strike of public transport. That helped us dealing with it very much. Bear in mind that it takes about 15 minutes to get to Piazza del popolo (that's in the north of the city centre) and quite a lot of time to get groceries when you have no car. On the other hand; there is at least one great restaurant/pizzeria (called Mama's) very nearby :). We would recommend this place very much!! Thanks a lot Gabriella!!!!

  • Our stay in Gabry and Luciano's apartment was fantastic, it is such a beautiful place and Gabry was a fantastic host. Due to a mistake on my behalf, My partner and I turned up a day early (oops) Thankfully Gabry was accommodating enough to fit us in and we were able to book in early. Thanks Gabry :).. We were provided with all the details on how to get in and out of the centre of Rome. There are also some very good restaurants nearby if you dont feel like cooking after a long day site seeing. The apartment has everything you need to feel at home and I would recommend this place to anyone travelling to Rome. Great value and great hosts.

  • Our stay at Gabry's apartment was very enjoyavle. It's a beautiful space that has plenty of room and was very comfortable. She welcomed us with some supplies for breakfast during our stay and had basics such as oil and spices there for our use. We didn't have a car so we depended on our feet and public transportation so if you're like us just so you know: It does take about 20-30 minutes to get into Rome by the regional train, which doesn't ever seem to follow the schedule. There is also a bit of a hill to hike up to get to the apartment, so be prepared for that at the end of your day walking around the city. As well the supermarket is about a 15 minute walk away from the apartment. Other than the distances it was the nicest place we've stayed in!! The pictures are exactly what to expect and the hosts very helpful and gracious, even popping by to check that everything was going well. I would highly recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a place away from the hustle of the city.

  • Gabriella and her husband are so hospitable, helpful, and informative. It was our first time in Italy and the experience was so great at the lowest price. The house is so neat and clean. It gave us the experience living in Italy from doing the market to shopping.
The house has almost everything you need in the comfort of your home. They also provided maps of the neighborhood where restaurants, groceries, stores, and markets.
From the house to Rome is about 20 minutes away. If you come from airports like Ciampino (where I landed), better let Gabriella's contact taxi driver to pick you up at the airport in order to minimize the headaches of language barrier. You will pay the same price at a limousine service.
My overall rating is Excellent. The hosts are comparable to a 5-star service. They even lend me their cellphone charger just because I left mine home.
    Keep up the good work!

  • Our stay in Al Gelsomino was wonderful. From the moment we arrived, Gabry and Luciano picked us up at the train station and took us to the nearby market for some food items. They provided us with maps and train schedules and told us how to reach them if we needed anything. They live in the adjoining building. What a delightful, friendly couple. The apartment is beautiful and spotless with everything you'll need for a pleasant stay. The train ride to the Piazza del Populo is a quick 15 minutes. From there you connect with everything in Rome very easily. And, it's such a pleasure to return home in the evening after a busy day of sightseeing to a quiet, green neighborhood which is a short 6 minute walk from the station. There are restaurants nearby. We found a great place for fresh, homecooked takeout food. Looking across the street from the station there is a news stand. To the left is the store which sells delicious food and cheap, good wine. We enjoyed a few meals in the comfort of the apartment.
We recommend Al Gelsomino and know you'll be very pleased with your stay. 5 stars. Thanks Gabry and Luciano.
