You'll love staying at Bella Green B&B's eco-sensitive, stand-alone "tucked under the trees" Guesthouse with breathtaking sunsets, organic artisan breakfasts, luxury amenities, firepit & optional on-site spa and retreat services (extra fees apply). With this $135 reservation, you get access to the screen-porch and 1 bedroom with a queen-size bed & private bathroom (Rm 1 w/antique clawfoot tub OR Rm 2 w/shower). The 2nd bedroom w/queen-size bed remains locked unless you opt to book for 3+ guests.

The space

Bella Green B&B is a lovely compound on 9.75 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, where weather temperatures average between 60-85 degrees, and it's often 3-5 degrees cooler than the stated area temperature due to the lovely breezes that roll up on the hill.

It is located in a quiet and private neighborhood, 2.5 miles up a hill, and is tucked behind a silver corrugated fence with a concrete driveway with private parking for guests.

Our guests tell us the Guest House rooms feel very European - not too large, tastefully decorated with warm colors, and with queen size beds that sleep very, very well. Everyone appreciates the ability to fully adjust the room temperature to his or her liking (or open the windows to feel the breeze) and we also have free wifi throughout. Choosing to be eco-sensitive, we use Comphey (TM) sheets in both the spa and guest bedrooms, organic bamboo mattress pads, on-demand hot water heaters, bamboo flooring in the Guesthouse, low-E windows (many with screens to allow a cross breeze), ceiling fans, and independent self-adjusting split-air AC/heaters.

The large screened porch area overlooks the view and runs the length of the building. Here guests can cuddle up on the loveseat, enjoy the soothing motion of the rocking chair, or sit/read/journal/eat/play on their computer at the extra-long (four-person) desk area which looks out to the view. Also on the screen porch is a mini-fridge, a microwave, a coffee/tea bar (feel free to bring your own blend if you'd like but we also provide this), fresh filtered water that has been pH balanced and optional milk (or mylk if requested) for coffee/tea.

Bella Green also offers amazing SOLO all-inclusive 3 & 5 day Retreats on a limited basis. Retreats include one daily premium service per day (such massage, charcoal mask, coaching session, creativity breakout) and are available Sunday-Thursday only. The 3-day packages start at $480 (cost AFTER room fees) five-day packages starts at $505 (cost AFTER room fees). Each is a customized experience which can be slanted to your unique needs. Past retreats have included Artist/Writer Retreats, Silent Retreats, Reclaiming Self Retreats, Grief/Loss Retreats, Abundant Rest Retreats, and/or Detox Retreat. Retreat fees are to be paid directly to hosts within 24 hours of making room reservations through Air. Note: There is a Strict cancellation policy on all retreats: 50% refund up until 1 week prior to arrival.

Guest access

There are several buildings on the property - your hosts home (they live in the main house), the Bella Green Guest House, found to the right of the main house, the ESCAPE Tiny House found a short walk away, and THE STUDIO which is a combination Exercise Room (with rowing machine, ballet barre, mats)/Art Room and Massage area (open by appointment), and the WELCOME ROOM (open 24/7) which contains a wellness library, full body "shake" machine, Keurig coffee/tea bar, infra-red sauna* and quiet room rest area with TV (the only one!). There is also an outside YOGA DECK tucked under the trees where guests can come to do a sun salutation, rest/nap, read, journal or meditate. And, of course, our al fresco breakfast area on the shared outside deck under the trees which is attached to the main house. Breakfast is served between the hours of 8am-10am.

Other things to note:
- FIRE PIT AREA - Your private outdoor fire pit area comes with two lounge chairs and two upright chairs (that bounce/rock) plus free firewood, a long lighter to borrow and fire-starter corks.
- EXERCISE OPTIONS - There are plenty of hilly neighborhood streets to walk if you like, and/or our exercise room has a rowing machine, ballet barre, yoga mats and hand weights, should you want to use them (no extra fee).
- READING MATERIAL - Just outside our front gate is our "Little Free Library" box where you are invited to TAKE any book you like! Please note: The wellness library resource books are for borrowing only while on the property.
~ SPA SERVICES: Spa services are available on a limited basis and guests may choose between traditional integrative massage, energetic "chi" balance (fully clothed) with or without Tibetan bowl sound therapy, &/or charcoal mask with scalp and foot massage. Each are hour long services and the cost is $70/hour. Your host Karen has over 25+ years of experience. During the cooler months, the cedar infrared sauna is a great add-on ($35 for single/$45 for 2 guests) and helps one to relax and detox. Please schedule your services in advance, if possible.
- TINY HOUSE TOURS - We both sell and offer Tiny House overnight rentals as a part of our B&B. Should you have an interest in touring one on property, let us know. We are happy to show between the hours of Noon & 3pm and/or when the tiny house is not in active rental mode. We represent and sell several different Tiny House models and are happy to share our expertise with those who have an interest.

Interaction with guests

As hosts, we try to be available to greet guests and provide a brief property tour upon arrival. We may chat over coffee in the mornings to learn more about you and your hill country adventures, or at sunset, join you for a glass of tea or wine - your option. Otherwise, we make it our business to give you space to enjoy your special quiet time here as you like.

NOTE: We live on the property in a separate building should you need us for anything. We are happy to make recommendations should you request it.

Other things to note

Take time to explore our sister cities, the greater hill country area, or simply stay put and make it a STAY-cation as a writer's retreat, silent personal retreat (with or without spa added) or to get familiar with the concept of living tiny if you think you might want to do that. We feel it is very healthy to stay "tucked in," enjoying the spa services, the hills, the natural beauty, the peace and quiet, and of course, our often spectacular daily sunsets! NOTE: The hot tub is no longer an amenity here though some reviews may comment about it.

Our special artisan "al fresco" (outdoors on the patio) breakfasts are included in the price.

Check in is anytime after 3:00 pm, and we encourage you to get here before sunset as they are often spectacular! Check out time is Noon for all guests. We are happy to send a map for navigating our hill if you'd like, but auto or phone GPS generally does a fine job. If it suggests you drive down Bump Gate Road, CALL US. That route no longer works to get here.

Booking this one room gives you total guesthouse privacy (unless you opt to add the 2nd room with someone from YOUR party). Please note this change is effective 5/15/2017.

We had a wonderful time staying with Mike and Karen. Such warm and interesting people. The beds were so comfortable, it felt like home. The breakfasts were delicious and pleasing to the eye as well. They were full of helpful local tips that made our stay even more enjoyable.

This has been our favorite AirBnB experience thus far. Karen and Mike provide a true retreat and getaway from the rat race and stresses of the day. From delicious, artisan style breakfasts, to sumptuous sheets and breathtaking views, we will definitely come back for more! I also indulged in a massage by Karen and it was heavenly. We ate dinner both nights at the Backyard Bistro, but spent most of our time relaxing and recharging. We only wish we could've stayed longer. Thanks so much, Karen and Mike!

Karen & Mike were absolutely wonderful hosts. Their hospitality goes above and beyond a typical airbnb and they made me feel welcome immediately. There is complete privacy in the area you are renting (guesthouse or one of their magnificent tiny houses) separate from the main house, and they are very considerate in giving privacy during your stay, but also ask if you would like company, for e.g. while eating breakfast (in my case I was staying there by myself and very much appreciated the conversation and getting to know Karen & Mike!) Their breakfast was delicious and made me want to seek out more traditional Bed & Breakfasts next time I book with airbnb! It really is the best way to travel. The bed was so comfortable--and holy crap, those sheets were heavenly. The views were amazing, and being there was overall just so peaceful & relaxing. I will be returning in colder weather to use that fire pit and stay in one the cute tiny houses I got a tour of!

Lovely and quiet location overlooking a beautiful hill country canyon. Karen and Mike were available for questions and live in the home next door. Tiny house also available for rent on property, the site would be perfect for a few people traveling together looking for 3 rooms. We used Lyft to get to an event in Helotes.

Former Natural Awakenings "healthy living" magazine publishers, retired college professors, and most recently, Tiny House sales reps, Karen and Mike LOVE where they live, love what they do, and because they feel so blessed, now share the peace and beauty of the hills, and the concept of living well, wth more nature and consumables - with others.

"Doing absolutely nothing -- except enjoying the breeze, the views, the sights and sounds of nature, is an event worthy of anyone's time and something we encourage all our guests to do! The outside fire pit areas and the screened porch (for those staying at the guest house) are favorite places for our guests. Also, we are WiFi connected so they can still check in with work, or loved ones, as needed."

Mike is a fiction writer and a southern gentleman who loves rescue dogs, gardening, vegetarian eating, music of all kinds (he plays guitar and the Chapman Stick) , and contacting almost 40 years worth of friends worldwide with amateur radio. Karen is a "people-person" originally from the Chicago area who has found that living simply - amidst nature and away from the maddening crowd - a true delight! She loves meeting new people, has healing hands (i.e., she is also a licensed massage therapist who gives an awesome massage), loves being creative, whether in her cooking, sculpting, crafting, exercising, painting or coaching. Our breakfasts, while not yet legendary, are pretty darn nice!
