About this listing
Original timber loft in Downtown Chicago, located just outside the loop, in the HOT Fulton Market District.
A semi-private room with curtains and partitioning for visual privacy. Your desire for privacy and full loft access will be respected.
This is an original timber loft in Downtown Chicago, located just outside the loop, in the less traffic'd Fulton Market District, home to some of the city's most acclaimed restaurants. Only steps from all the action, and nearly every public transportation option Chicago has to offer.
This loft has an OPEN floor plan. If you are looking for a lot of privacy this space is not for you. This is not a hostel, nor a hotel, nor a bed & breakfast. This is my home. I love meeting travelers, like myself, and showing my city off.
Conveniently located just 1 block from the Green Line "EL" Stop. And 10 minutes walk (.5 mile) to all train and bus lines in the loop, as well as Union & Oglivie Train Stations.
I sleep in a partitioned areas of the loft space, but we will be sharing the kitchen, living room and bathrooms. The guest bedroom is partitioned with curtains for visual privacy.
Consider this loft in the same way you would a communal living space with semi-private sleeping arrangements, similar to a hostel. I am happy to provide any recommendations, advice, and guidance that you may need to enhance your stay. During your time here, I will be sure to respect your privacy and you will have unfettered access to the common areas.

This loft is located in Downtown Chicago just steps from some of the hottest restaurants, and nearly every public transportation option Chicago has to offer. There isn't a part of Chicago you can't get to from here easily via public transportation. On the night and weekends, the area is pretty quiet.
This neighborhood is a mecca for foodies. (There is a new celebrity chef restaurant popping up every week.) Several neighborhood pubs, and fast-food shops, Jewel-Osco is literally across the street, and a European-style market is only a short walk away.
This neighborhood is across the river from the Chicago Loop central business district (10 minute walk), and the River North neighborhood (15 minute walk). Nearly every major public transportation option is less than 10 minutes walking distance from my home. Amtrak & Metra Trains( Union & Ogilivie Stations), and the Red, Blue, Green, Purple, Brown, Orange, Pink "L" trains in the Loop. Plus many bus routes. Taxis are also plentiful. Close to the expressway. Garage parking is available down the street for $12 a day (without in/out privileges.)

A great way to get around quickly and safely is with ridesharing apps such as Curb, Uber, Lyft, and Sidecar. If you haven't used them before, I have a promotional code to provide you with free rides.

Other Things to Note
Loft living is a unique experience. There are few things that you need to know about timber loft spaces before you book with me. There are no doors in this loft except the closets and bathrooms, and the walls between rooms are soft, meaning they don't go all the way to top of the ceiling. The bedroom has curtains to provide visual privacy, but sound travels within spaces like this. This is an urban area and there are a lot of city sounds (traffic, EL, people, etc.), even at night (something to consider if you are a light sleeper.) It's all part of the charm of loft spaces.
Pets: I have a small Boston Terrier who is quieter than a mouse (she never barks), but loves to cuddle and play, so naturally, you should be comfortable around dogs. The building is dog friendly, and you will encounter many animals in the lobby and elevator.
I am couples-friendly, gay-friendly, and pet-friendly, but generally, the loft is not suitable for families with young children. My home is not setup to accommodate little walking/talking humans or infants. Please contact me before booking.
No smoking. Ever.
Quiet hours are 11pm -8am: Shoes should not be worn while in the unit to be respectful to my neighbors (website hidden) volumes should be also kept at a respectable level.
From Jul 30 - Aug 8, 2015 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
Great place to stay. Loved Vanessa loft and her dog. Great location. Parking was easy. I would stay here again.
Vanessa is super friendly and super welcoming. She told me about great restaurants in the area and also told me about an amazing street market that I checked out on my last morning in Chicago. Her place is beautiful and a great place to relax. I would definitely recommend it!

About the Host, Vanessa
Currently working on a goal of visiting 100 countries, and 7 continents before I die. Luckily, I have quite a few years ahead of me, and nasty case of wanderlust.
I enjoy meeting people who are curious about the world, and try to make it a better place in both big and small ways.
