The Space

Our family has vacationed in Kona for over 35 years. Every year we make sure we stay at the Keauhou Punahele Condos. Kailua-Kona and the Keauhou area have truly become our second home. We purchased this unit after staying in it ourselves because it is a first class unit, and the location is optimal with a great view and soft ocean breeze. We are happy to share this Hawaiian experience with you.

The Keauhou Punahele condos are well-maintained and are constructed of concrete, allowing for a quiet environment. The whole complex is fairly small, so there are not a lot of crowds, traffic, or noise. It has been our experience that visitors that stay here like to return because it has a small family atmosphere. There are many repeat visitors, owners, and long term vacationers.

This location is ideal. They are the last condos along Alii drive, surrounded by The Kona Country Club Golf Course, and the Keauhou Pier which is the launching point of many wonderful excursions. You will see turtles swimming in this bay as well as kayakers and stand up paddle boarders (boards & kayaks are available to rent for a small fee). Because they are the last units, you won’t get much car traffic, and there are great places to walk, bike, or jog in both directions. Although these units are not on the water, a very short walk takes you to the sea side to watch beautiful sunsets. They are also just a short walk to the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa where you will watch manta rays feeding at night, while dining and listening to live music at the ocean side Rays on the Bay restaurant.

This 1200 sq ft. unit has a prime location in the center of the complex. Parking is never a problem as your private spot is at your door and is free to you. The view from this unit is ideal. It overlooks the pool without the noise. The private lanai has new furniture for your relaxation, and has access from the living room and the master bedroom. This unit faces the Pacific Ocean, creating a stunning backdrop to lush palms and crystal pool. One of our favorite attributes is the tree that is located right outside the master bedroom lanai. We get to see and hear the birds chirping, as well as various geckos climbing around. This unit has been meticulously kept up over the years and will truly feel like your home away from home as it did for us.

The master bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed with access to the lanai, and ocean views. This allows for a great breeze during the day or night. The master bath is beautiful after a recent remodel with tile counter tops, a block shower stall, and a walk-in closet.

The second bedroom has two single beds with brand new mattresses, a dresser to store clothes, and a large closet. The second bath has a recently remodeled vanity, along with a full shower, and full sized, brand new washer and dryer and all laundry/cleaning necessities.

Enjoy a spacious living area with cozy, contemporary couches, and a large high-definition flat screen TV in living room and the master bedroom with cable, and free wifi for internet needs. The living area opens up to the lanai adding to the enjoyment of your morning Kona coffee or evening Mai Tai while enjoying the evening breeze, chirping birds, and the striking sunsets. The long Lanai has lounge chairs, a new bistro style table to relax at, and a barbecue for grilling your favorite local fish or meat. This complex is one of few places in the area that allows grilling on your own lanai.

The remodeled kitchen includes new cabinets, granite counter tops and tile flooring. All new stainless steel appliances were installed July of 2014. It has all the amenities one needs! There is also a bar area with two teak bar stools facing the lanai to be able to enjoy your morning coffee inside with the same amazing views. All areas of this condo have ceiling fans to keep you cool, as well as an extra standing fan in both bedrooms.

Just a few steps away from this unit, enjoy the quiet gated swimming pool and Jacuzzi area, which also has a “log house” for your shaded needs as well as day and evening social gatherings. Bathrooms and shower are available at the pool as well.

Keauhou Punahele (Keauhou area) is nicely located away from the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to walk to the Keauhou Shopping Center which has restaurants, Keauhou Cinemas, KTA grocery store (ATM inside), Long’s Drugs, US Post Office, and an Urgent Care medical facility to name a few. There is also a tennis complex next door with numerous rental courts and equipment.

There are many excursions to choose from in Kona such as Para-sailing in the Kailua-Kona Pier, visiting Volcanoes National Park, Helicopter rides around craters and lava flows, snorkeling at the near-by Kahaluu beach to see a large variety of fish and turtles, or joining our favorite Fair Wind snorkeling excursion to the famous Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua bay. Take the day to drive around the island, visit Parker Ranch to ride horses, or drive to Hilo. The big Island is the best place to find a wide variety of activities for the curious adventurer or tourist, or to just lay back and relax without the hustle and bustle of a busy city. There is so much to do and see on this island, we encourage any visitor to search the web for ideas, discounts and scheduling.

The Neighborhood

Very quiet, end of the road location. Also, a short walk to the pier (ocean, excursions, beach, rentals, etc.).

Getting Around

There is a shuttle that takes you from one end of the town down to the other end, as well as the shopping centers. It's only $2 each way, and can be caught at the hotel right next to our condo. You can find their schedule by looking up Kona Trolley Shuttle on line.

Check In/out: Check in is after 3 P.M. and check out is before 10A.M. unless arranged differently with owner. Once you have your flight information please email or call (phone number hidden) arrange a different check in/out time if needed. Go directly to your rental property & follow the Check-In Procedures document that will be sent to you after final payment is received. Guests must register at the front office.
Parking: Please park in space #65. If you have guests, visitor parking is available but not for overnight. If you have a second vehicle, please park outside the complex by Alii Dr.
Property Inspection: Please inspect the property and notify us within 24 hours of any maintenance items that arise or items missing so we can make your stay relaxing & enjoyable!
Garbage: Containers are located in the parking lot behind the lava rock walls along with containers for recycling glass, plastic bottles/jugs and aluminum cans.
Lanai: Please do not hang any clothes or towels out on the lanai table, chairs, or railings.
Confirmed Guests: Your reservation is made for the number of guests listed. Your reservation is subject to additional charges if you have brought more guests than allowed.
Excessive Cleaning/Property Damage: If required after your departure, extra charges will be ensued. You are responsible for damages to the rental caused by you or your guests.
Pool/Spa Area: The pool and spa area is open from 8AM to 9PM. A key is required to enter and exit pool area. Please read pool rules once you enter for more information.
Supplies: The property is furnished with an initial supply of paper products and soaps. Guests are responsible for purchasing additional supplies for the balance of the stay.
Keys: The rental property is provided with 2 unit keys, 2 pool keys and a lock box key. Please ensure that you leave all where you found them when you depart. ($10.00 fee for any lost key) The entry code for the lockbox will be provided in the arrival instructions.
Lost or Stolen Items: The owner is not responsible for any personal items which may be lost or stolen from your rental. Always lock all of the doors when you leave the condo.
Non-Smoking: Please NO SMOKING in unit or premises. Hawaii State Law prohibits smoking in or around the condos including on the grounds.
Noise: Please preserve the peace and quiet from 10:00 P.M. and 8:00 A.M. by reducing noise on the lanai, lowering the TV volume and not using appliances late at night. You are responsible for your guests.
Telephones/Internet: A land-line is not available since most of us carry cell phones. Free cable & wifi are available in the unit. Internet pass code will be given in your check-in instructions. ALL PRICES INCLUDE TAXES, so there will be no other charges other than cleaning by owner.
