Emi's place is lovely and she was the perfect host. She was always there to help us with anything we needed, even if that meant getting up at 5 am to help us figure out why our driver wasn't showing up. She makes an excellent (and big!) breakfast and she also served us a delicious banana cake when we arrived. The room is as shown in the photos, the garden is lovely and the bathroom is huge! The location is about 20 minutes walk from the center of Yogyakarta, but (as apparently in most cities in Indonesia) it's not a too nice walk, so we ended up taking the taxi or bus most of the time -- both very cheap options. In short, we would definitely recommend Emi's place!
Emi is a wonderful host who goes the extra mile to ensure our stay with her was enjoyable. Prior to our arrival, she helped us to book tours to Mt. Merapi and Borobudur temple at our request. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with welcome drinks and by Jason, her adorable and friendly golden retriever. She also kindly offered recommendations for food and directions to Malioboro. Despite our early morning tours, Emi graciously woke up early (around 4+am) to make breakfast for us 2 days in a row. On the day of our departure, she gave us a knock on the door to ensure we left for the airport on time. Emi also paid to attention to detail, decorating the room with fresh flowers from her garden. The room and attached bathroom are very clean and spacious. She also spent some time with us chatting in the nearby cafe and in her tranquil garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Emi and highly recommend visitors to Yogyakarta to stay with her.
I felt really at home, and Emi cooks a mean breakfast! She is a great host. Her place is really central, and the bathroom is absolutely divine. I will definitely be back.
Casa Mia was great! Location is close to a few restaurants and stores but not quite walkable (but def short bus or taxi) to the main Malioboro road for shopping!
Emi was a wonderful help with sorting out my tours and logistics, even waking up at crazy times with breakfast for me! She helped me organise a couple of tours that started from Casa Mia at 3am!! Really grateful for the flexibility and help to organise to do the tours as and how I want to do it! ie- Sunrise at Borobodor or Breakfast and morning hike at Mt Merapi.
Rooms and bathroom was very clean and cute. With a shared open patio space (where theres wifi!) to relax though its too hot tbh.
Really good stay and would reccomend it!
Nice clean room set up like a hotel, big bathroom, simple and attention to details. In a lovely residential compound with a garden. The girls were very kind and helpful and prepared a nice breakfast.
Our stay at Casa Mia was fabulous. My only regret was that we weren't able to stay another night! The private guest house is fully furnished, the bathroom luxurious, and the host is very helpful in answering all of our questions and scheduling transportation. In terms of privacy, price, and comfort, Casa Mia comes highly recommended.
The only struggle we had was initially finding the place, but our cab driver was able to call, get directions, and help us get there without too much trouble.
