  • Great location, close to all amenities. The apartment is clean and well maintained. We enjoyed our stay!

  • This apartment was amazing for us. It was bigger than we expected for a one bed flat in the heart of Central Hong Kong. It is really easy to get to from the airport with fantastic directions provided by the host. It is in central Hong Kong and has everything on its door step. The flat is well equipped with everything you could need. We will definitely look to stay here again, it really made our stay in Hong Kong perfect.

  • Spent 6 days in Hong Kong in March and stayed at this lovely apartment. Extremely convenient location (right next to the MLE), surrounded by great bars and restaurants and beautifully presented. Perfect place to stay for a base to explore the wonders of Hong Kong. Only downside was the building work which was happening right next to the bedroom window (Aquin pre-warned us about this) and the hot water tank in the bathroom not lasting more than one persons shower (details found in the guest manual on arrival). All in all I would happily recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a convenient base for exploring the beauties of Hong Kong.

  • We had so much fun in HK, and Aquin made it really easy for us - she had maps, amenities like microwaves and even tea for our use (we didn't use it because we were perpetually too full). Besides the temperamental shower that changed its temperature on us midway through a shower, her apartment was small but very comfortable. The shower-head was also leaking, and the drain was slow (we stood in water most of the shower time). We ended up sleeping on the sofa and bed - she has additional blankets just in case that needed them - it was that comfortable. We particularly enjoyed people watching when we woke up and they were rushing to work. The security guards of the building were super helpful and friendly, and the night shift guard reminded us of the typical super nice uncle in TVB dramas. Residents that we shared a lift with were also very friendly.

The location was fantastic - you are 10 minutes from Central MTR Station and Sheung Wan MTR Station, 15 minutes from the Macau ferries, 15 minutes from Airport Express Station (and you can check your luggage in there directly!), and next to Wellington Street with lots of good local food - Wanton Mee, Dim Sum, Herbal Tea. One thing though - while we were situated next to the Central Mid-Levels Escalators (and signages were very helpful all around), they ended at midnight, and we only arrived at 1am. We had to drag our luggage up the uneven steps - well, fantastic memories! but it was certainly a surprise! With luggage a 10 minute walk seemed forever, especially when you're figuring out the location for the first time.

All in all, it was a great stay. Strongly recommended.

    Response from Aquin:

    Yw Lee,

Thank you for your detailed feedback - it truly is appreciated. I am sure furtuire guests will find it very helpful.

I am sorry about the shower head leaking. I will have that looked into as soon as possible.

The shower drain is slow to drain, it's one of our apartment quirks and I have mentioned this in the apartment guide. I am sorry about the inconvenience. We have had it looked into by a plumber. There is nothing that can be done because it would require a complete overhaul of the bathroom plumbing. The following is the note I have put in the apartment guide:
*The shower drain can be very sensitive and slow to drain if there is hair caught up in the drain sieve. Simply twist the metal top of the drain clockwise and it will pop out. Clear out any debris into the waste bin and twist it back on by turning it counter clockwise. Our cleaner does this before and after every guests checks in.

Also in the detailed directions on how to get to the apartment that is mailed out to all guests; I have mentioned clearly that it's best to take a cab if you have heavy bags. Inserting it here for future guests for purposes of clarity:
*If you have heavy bags, it's recommended that you take a cab to Hollywood Road and then walk the 15 meters up to the apartment front door - there are steps AND there is also a slope to make pulling up your bags easy. The escalators run downhill from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and uphill from 10:30am to midnight.

  • I just spent two weeks in the apartment. I love the apartment setup: the small bedroom is for sleeping only but the rest of the apartment is spacious and exactly as pictured; we used the den as a dressing room and there are plenty of cupboard space and ample space for luggage. The best thing about the apartment is the convenience of the location (literally 5 - 10 minutes from anywhere in Central) and walking distance to all the major sights, including the Peak Tram station, Hong Kong Park, the Botanic gardens and the mid-levels.

An earlier reviewer brought up the issue of running out of hot water during a shower. I've found that the first time I had a shower but realized that it is our north American habits of keeping the hot water running all the time that we are in the shower. When I look at the size of the hot water tank, I realize that we have to adjust our habits, i.e., turn on the water only when you need it during the shower. After the adjustment in perspective, everything worked out!

We did encounter the construction noise next door but as we are out most of the day, it was tolerable. Most days they start around 8:30 - it's good incentive to get out and see Hong Kong. And they seem to take a break on Sundays.

Aquin is a gracious, responsive host who is very proactive in trying to resolve any issues we brought up. She generously supplied the apartment with all the basic essentials, including amply supply of paper products and tea.

  • Apartment is exactly as shown in pictures, location was perfect with some great places to grab coffee and breakfast.Excellently equipped and the dressing room had enough space to take our daughters travel cot. Aquin was also incredibly helpful and responsive!

  • Nice flat in very heart of HK. A bit noisy at night and cold so you have to switch all ac on. It took time to get hot water from heater but that was not a big problem at all.
    +convenient location
    +close to downtown
    +easy bus, mtr access
    +clean flat
    +feel like at home
    -noisy at night
    -a bit overpriced

  • We stayed at Aquin's apartment earlier this month for 6 nights and had a fantastic stay! The place was modern, well equipped and close to everything! Aquin was quick to assist whenever we had any enquiries and was very helpful. We would definitely recommend Aquin and her apartment to anyone and we can't wait to return next year! Thank you again!

  • My first experience with airbnb was this past week in Hong Kong. I was using Lonely Planet as my guide in order to find a great area to stay. Soho was recommended and I looked on airbnb for a Soho apartment. Found one, it fell through and then I found 8 Shelley Street. Well I knew I was in the area I wanted but had no idea I had hit the bulls-eye. Bam! The apartment was perfectly situated and was *exactly* as advertized. Clean, efficient and comfortable. It was a completelty enjoyable experience and I recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay in Soho. I also highly recommend the laundry services recommended by the owner. First rate, fast and cheap! We stayed 5 nights and did not have any issues with noise but then again, we are sound sleepers. Communication with the owner was very good indeed and any question I had was answered quickly and effectively. Many thanks for a most enjoyable rental experience!
