The Space

*UPDATE - MARCH 2014*:

Dear Guests,
The building next door is being torn down and re-constructed. If you plan to spend most of your day outdoors - sightseeing or at a conference, you will not experience any issues. If you do experience any inconvenience because of the construction noise, we will happily refund you HKD$50 per day of your stay.

According to HK laws, construction is permitted from 7am-7pm. The contractor has assured us construction WILL BE LIMITED to 8:30am-5:30pm.

*WHAT* A 333 sq.feet apartment sunlit by corner windows in every room. It has1 bedroom with an IKEA double bed, a spacious living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom. It's located on a low floor, in a secure elevator building with 24 hour security.

*WHO* This cozy apartment is perfect for anyone looking to explore the quaint lanes and alleys of Hong Kong, decamp after a full day at a conference or experience the city's famous local cuisine and hip arty vibe.

*WHERE* Located in the heart of SoHo and overlooking the mid level escalators, the apartment is a perfectly central location to explore HK's uber-cool entertainment and dining district.

Getting around

The Central MTR (tube) is a 10 minute walk away and the Hong Kong (Airport Express) station is accessible by the covered walkway/escalators.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

  • Nice little apartment in a great location. The apartment was very clean and nicely done up. Aquin was very responsive both before and during our stay. We travelled with two kids and she was able to arrange a travel cot for us. We did not find the noise from the building site next door to be a problem, either during the day or in the evening. The apartment block is on a pedestrianised street, so taking a cab and negotiating the short uphill walk can be a little inconvenient if you have a lot of luggage, particularly during rush hour. Though once there, getting any form of transport is pretty easy, and there are lots of restaurants, cafés, as well as a supermarket and wet market close by.

  • My second visit in the flat was enjoyable as the first one. And this time there is even a new Marks&Spencer food hall across the road :-) Love it.

  • Excellent apartment. Although the dimensions are not very big, we felt very spacious. Separate dressing room, where you can put a suitcase and unpack their belongings. There is a washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board.
    Very detailed instructions for living.
To any ferries, MRT, buses and the famous tram a few minutes on foot.

Be sure to recommend to all friends.

    Thank you so much!

  • Perfect location in the heart of soho, the instructions provided were perfect, the place is compact as you would expect but provided every thing we needed. The washing machine was a treat. Aquin our host didn't hesitate to drop around a spare set of keys when I stupidly mislaid them on the first night. Though the proximity to the bars and restaurants could not have been closer, sleeping at night was very quiet. A new marks and spencer supermarket has opened at the bottom of the building. Perfect. Thank you.

  • This was my first experience with Airbnb, and frankly speaking I had mixed feelings when making the reservation. I traveled with my 2 friends and impressions when arriving was that this apartment was PERFECT in every way. The apartment was clean and tidy - just as you see in the pictures. The apartment has all amenities that you could possibly want - Strong Wifi, Washer, Iron, Hair Dryer etc, and I appreciate the detail touches that Aquin put in to make my stay comfortable (scented candle sticks and even 3 types of tea to choose from).

Location was just perfect. The apartment is in a great neighborhood surrounded by restaurants, bars, convenient stores, a gym (Pure Fitness - just across the street) and upscale shopping malls (IFC & The Landmark). We had no difficulties in finding public transportation as the taxi stand was just a stone throw away and the MTR Station, Star Ferry and Macau Ferry terminal is within walking distance.

I did not get to meet Aquin in person but she is always reachable through Whatsapp. I did not experienced any problems in terms of communication with Aquin. My tip to everyone is to thoroughly read the house manual that Aquin had prepared as the apartment has a few quirks - especially in operating the cable TV.
I highly recommend this apartment to everyone and I would love to stay again when I come back to Hong Kong. Thanks Aquin

  • Really great host and apartment! The location was very convenient - just off the escalators and the apartment was in extremely good condition. All the comforts of home for a good stay in Hong Kong. Highly recommended!

  • Fab appartment is just as good as the reviews suggested. Follow the escalator and the signs mentioned by Aquin we got no difficulty to get there. Our room is on the second floor. I fell in love at first sight, it's typically IKEA style, beautiful and comfortable and very clean. The bed is soft, WIFI is fast, umbrellas are prepared for us. We do had a good time in those rainy days. When you walk out, you will find you are surrounded by all kinds of restaurant and cafe bar, so many delicacies that you can not refuse. Then you will realize why PURE FITNESS is just across from the apartment. We love this place and wish we will be back soon.

  • Aquin was a great host! The apartment was extremely clean and easy to find via her directions. When we had a problem with the washer, her daughter came over to help us herself, which was great. The only thing was the very loud construction going on, for which Aquin even refunded some of our payment! Overall we were very satisfied and would definitely stay at her place again. The location was amazing. Highly recommended!

    Response from Aquin:

I am so glad we got the washing machine sorted out! Just to clarify, that wasn't my daughter, My kids are still pre-schoolers. The kind lady who came to help you is my cleaner who also helps manage day to day admin.

  • Take a good look at the posting for this apartment; what you see is definitely what you will find! (In fact, better, since they now have a flatscreen tv and cable!) Firstly, the location is fantastic! I took a cab to the crossing between Hollywood Road and Shelley Street, and the apartment is just one short elevator ride up from there. The building is very safe, with friendly guards who will welcome you everytime you walk through the door. The room itself is spacious, with a nice-sized bedroom with a comfortable bed. The kitchen has all the pots, pans and utensils you would need, but being in a foodies' paradise, there really is no need to cook! I was especially impressed with the separate dressing room, complete with racks and closets to store your clothes. Things like this really make a difference when you are travelling out of a suitcase.

Aquin lays out the quirks of the apartment to you upfront, especally regarding waterworks. Not a problem, however, as she also gives precise instructions how to deal with them. Follow them, and there will be no problem.

One word of advice, if you wish to do some light cooking, bring a small pack of salt and pepper. Also, it would be good to bring your toiletries (i.e., shampoo, body soap.)

Last but not least, Aquin is a helpful and gracious host who knows the travellers' needs well. Should you have any questions, she will be happy to answer them for you.

    Enjoy your stay!

    Response from Aquin:

Thank you Mina for being such a lovely guest and for leaving such a thoughtful gift when you left. It's always a pleasure to host someone so gracious.

I am taking note on the kitchen and bath essentials. Chances are my cleaner has forgotten to stock them up.

Thanks again and all the best!

  • Although I didn't get to meet Aquin, I felt very much acquainted the moment we texted when I arrived at the airport. Detailed and comprehensive instructions were sent over to me a couple of days before my trip, prepping me for my arrival and what to do. Aquin's responses are quick and fast. When my friends and I arrived at the apartment, we felt very much at home. The apartment was just the right size, cosy and well furnished. It is as the picture shows it. Though we weren't in the apartment most of the time, it always felt good to return to the apartment knowing there is comfort awaiting. The walk to the MTR stations can be long for a long-term stay but I thought it was just right for a short-stay. I enjoyed every bit of it.
