Buckman is a close in SE Portland neighborhood which is an increasingly popular place to live. The apartment is at the eastern end of the neighborhood. There are parks, a picturesque cemetery, good restaurants, wine bars, craft brewing pubs and the Laurelhurst movie theater, all within walking distance. The #15 bus line runs to downtown on the other side of the cemetery (6 blocks). A little further afield (just over a mile) is the Hawthorne district where there are some off beat shops and more places to eat and drink. Downtown is 2 miles away.
The apartment is part of a new build and is situated at the rear of the property next to the garden It is one story up (over the garage) and receives a lot of natural light. It is fully self-contained, all appliances are new which makes self-catering very easy. What it lacks in history it more than makes up for in convenience!
Buckman is pretty close to downtown while still having a residential flavor. It also contains a number of agreeable restaurants, wine bars and brewpubs.
Everyday shopping needs such as grocery stores are also well served. Additionally it is pretty easy to get to the major freeways for travel purposes.
Buses run to downtown and back a few blocks over.
Cara sent me all the information I needed in a very prompt manner. The apartment was very clean and just as nice as the photos show. It's my second time to stay and I was as comfortable this time as I was before. Would highly recommend it to a friend.
Excellent place to stay! The hosts were so welcoming and everything was even better than I expected! I highly recommend this place!
1st time using AirBnb and it was a great first impression. Ample space in the apartment, which is located in a quiet neighborhood - an actual neighborhood...All the amenities are included and they even supplied us with an air mattress that came in handy. There are many restaurants and places to grab a drink within a 5-10 minute walk (including several breweries). Downtown was only a 15 minute bus ride. All in all, I would definitely recommend Roger and Cara's place!
The studio was just as it is pictured, and I felt right at home. It is one of the nicest air bnb's I've stayed in and I loved the setup. It was very clean, quiet, and the access to great shops and restaurants nearby was very convenient. I would highly recommend it.
What a wonderful cozy apartment! Everything we needed was provided for us along with a great welcoming gift! We loved that the apartment was located in a great neighborhood near so many fantastic restaurants. This was the perfect place to relax after a long trip up the west coast, I would definitely recommend to friends.
This Cozy Portland Studio Apartment can only barely be called cozy, because it was quite spacious studio! My wife and I were very comfortable inside the unit, (the in-unit washer and dryer is handy for longer stays), and street parking in front of the property was never an issue. It was our first time in Portland, and we were visiting mainly to hit-up all the great eateries, many of which were within 2-3 miles of where this unit is; We could walk to Blue Star Donuts! It was a great and relaxing stay!
We were visiting my son, who's renovating his home just a few blocks away. So the locations was perfect. We're happy to say the Cozy Apartment was perfect too.
A delightful bottle of Oregon wine welcomed us when we arrived at this clean and well appointed studio apartment. There was everything we could possibly need for our stay - including a coffee maker with locally roasted coffee, a washer/dryer to get rid of the dirt from our clothes and a great shower for the grime on ourselves.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hope you stay with us again should you return to Portland.
It is possible that there was some confusion over the intention behind the coffee provision. As with the wine, it is complimentary but since there is considerable variability in both the duration of guests' stay and their disposition to consume coffee we only intend it to be a sort of "starter kit" so to speak and not necessarily as a provision for the whole stay (although in many cases it does manage to accomplish that).
So, sorry for the confusion and if you have any suggestions as to how we may make this clearer to guests in the future we would love to get your feedback.
Thanks again for choosing us!
Professional couple who enjoy urban life with 2 simple cats. New York is too fast, Seattle too crowded, Portland is just right. Hosting out-of-town friends (and now strangers) is pure pleasure in this great town!
