This listing is for a cozy, sunny bedroom in an updated 1930's house with modern furnishings. My home is located in walking distance to downtown Bethesda and the Red Line Metro as well as NIH. There is a bus stop 30 feet from the front door (convenient in bad weather!).
I have 2 very friendly cats but they are not allowed in your room (unless you want them!).
There is a shared upstairs bathroom and a shared downstairs half bath. You will have access to the kitchen which has a dishwasher and a gas stove. I am an artist and my studio is on the first floor. Access to the washer/dryer in the basement is included. The backyard is large with a beautiful patio, grill and outdoor fireplace, perfect for your own private happy hour or just relaxing after a long day. Off street parking is available for one car at no charge.
Wifi internet access is included and can be accessed from anywhere in the house or yard.
Bethesda is known for it's fabulous restaurants, outdoor events and fun nightlife, all of them only a short walk away.
The Metro is a 15 minute walk and takes you right into the heart of DC in another 15 minutes. I have SmartTrip cards available for the Metro/bus system so you can take advantage of the discount the locals get. I can direct you to just about anywhere so feel free to ask!

Awsome calm and cozy home that makes you feel like being at your own, just disturbed some times by the street noise as usually happens in every big city. Laura is an excellent host with the perfect balance, being warm and friendly and giving the proper information about the city and weather.
Laura is a perfect host. The house is in a perfect location, just outside of downtown Bethesda. The room is cozy, clean and comfortable. Everything works. Nice hot shower. No complaints, only compliments!
I would recommend staying here to any of my friends. The room is well kept and very cozy. Laura was helpful, friendly and able to answer all of my questions. My sole complaint would be that the room is adjacent to a very busy road, which woke me up at certain times of the night.
Enjoyed my stay and felt completely welcome. The room was comfortable and clean as was the rest of the house. Having use of the kitchen was also a plus as my stay was over a week. The house was well situated only a few minutes walk from the restaurant district and 10 min walk from the Metro.
I was there in November with temperatures as low as 15 degrees. The room stayed warm, and the bed was very comfortable. The metro was close, making my daily trek into DC very easy ( around 30 minutes ). I drove my Suburban, and parking this large vehicle was no problem and no extra cost at Laura's. The WiFi was fast and reliable. I would stay with Laura again, and I recommend her place to anyone staying in the DC area.
Laura's room was perfect for me. It was easy to get to and from the nearest metro station; the wifi was strong; the house was cozy and the room was private; and the cats were friendly. Laura was welcoming and her directions, etc., were clear. Recommended.
I returned to Laura's place the following week for two more nights, and I was just as happy the second time. Plus I enjoyed the art in Laura's house. And her cats. :)
I’ve been enjoying my stay at Laura’s home. The desk in the room and the Wifi proved very useful because I was on a business trip and I had some work to do. Laura absolutely respects her guests’ privacy while caring for their well-being—from biscotti alongside the morning coffee to towels, guidebooks and spare SmarTrip cards.
I strongly recommend this room, but you have to be tolerant of the traffic on the road outside during peak hours, and you gotta like cats.
The room setup was clean and organized. The bed was soft and lead to a great sleep. Laura was very welcoming and friendly. I would recommend this room to anyone in the DC area. I hope to go back.
My little room was comfortable and well equipped -- even down to a little basket of toothpaste etc. for guests who may have forgotten to bring some basics! Laura was welcoming and friendly, but never intrusive. Use of shared spaces was easy and relaxed, and I'm sorry I never got out on that gorgeous patio! A lovely home, a fine room, and a pleasant host. Very nice experience. Thank you, Laura.
