Our residents agree; the 511 Lima Hostel experience is in league of its own. It is all about great ambience (contemporary art serenely blending in a Colonial-style residence), superb location (a cozy tree-lined street in Miraflores) and signature service. As Peru’s one and only boutique hostel, the 511 brand innovates beyond conventional standards to become the flashpacker’s travel accommodation of choice. All at a pocket friendly price.

Worst experience ever !
First, we arrived with high expectations after looking at the website pictures. Then, disappointment after disappointment.
Nobody was there to welcome us (2pm check in, we showed at 2:10). A guest actually let me in, so after 1 hour sitting inside waiting for someone after leaving numerous phone messages, I decided to take a shower in the room that I think was meant for me (I was able to take the keys in the wide open office and went from room to room...). The room, and actually the whole place, was ran down, much older than the pictures look (actually look carefully at the bathroom pictures!), there was dead bugs in the bed, and hair in both the bed and shower. The bed mattress was actually way too old, very dirty (I have pictures on request, shocking).
Finally, Humberto, one of the owner showed up with thousands of excuses and apologies. He said a new 'manager/maid' was running the place by herself and wasn't up to the challenge. According to one guest, it was actually the cousin of the other owner who was replacing 2 staff they had actually fired.
I believe Humberto was sincere in his apologies and tried everything to make it up. He reimbursed the fees and sent us in a old but clean hotel nearby at his own expense, furious at his new staff. He offered the hotel bikes for free and gave us 'make it up gifts'. It was very appreciated, but we still believe that one of the two owners must be running this once elegant boutique hotel on the cheap side, not hiring the proper staff to cut costs, letting the place falling appart, letting clients sleeping in run down beds and not changing the carpets filled with holes or furnitures not even good enough for the old country house ...
Very very disappointed despite Humberto's effort. This place is well located, has great potential as showned by the pictures, but appear to have been let down by some greedy manager/owner cutting costs well down below the basic levels. This place is now more like a well located youth hostel for people who dont care much about where or in what they sleep.
I´m going to try and be as polite as I can be considering what you have written. It is true we made a mistake with your reservation . We trusted a fellow worker and she failed us by not having your room ready upon your arrival. This of course, will never happen again and we are truly sorry, once more, that it had to happen to you.
We did our absolute best to accommodate you in another hotel, payed for your stay , and made sure you were comfortable because we felt we owed it to you.
I will let our past and future guests speak on our behalf, as your harmful words do not deserve further explanations from our side.
We invite everyone on Airbnb to stay with us and have an amazing experience in Lima.
Gonzalo & Humberto
After a few days in South America, we were so glad to meet the host of the hostel, who spoke with perfect English. Breakfast included eggs, cheese, cinnamon cookies, muffins and papaya juice. We spent a few nights but were out mostly on day trips, so didnt wander around much to comment on the location.
This was a great stop over for the night in the wonderful neighborhood of Miraflores. It was walkable to some really incredible restaurants/coffee shops like La mar, Cafe Verde, and also close to the waterfront trail. The room was modest and spacious. Thanks!
We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and have only positive experience. First there were some misunderstanding in how to make the water warmer (yes, in Peru hot water is an option), but finally we made it work. We had a mastermony room with a huge bed, which was cleaned every day. Even my clothes were placed nicely and very accurately. Everybody was friendly and very helpful even when we asked for help and advice days after checking out.
I would definitely recommend the place to all.
I loved 511! Humberto and Gonzolo were very helpful with my stay. They gave me a lot of advice on how to spend the short time I had in Lima. The house was very cool and the bed was giant. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends. In fact, I referred my friends who were traveling to Lima a few days after me!
