We were happy to stay at 'Cortiletto'! Everything was very clean and nice. Alexandra's mother was waiting for us and offered us fresh peaches from her own garden. The next day Alexandra brought us a very good breakfast with homemade bread and vegetarian specials (ricemilk and soy-yogurt). We felt very welcome. Alexandra is a perfect host! We recommend this place! Thank you very much, Alexandra!
An easy and no-frills stay in this functional appartment. The organization was simple and efficient, breakfast not quite the opulent meal dscrobed in previous posts but standard Italian. Location is very central and we were glad to have a garage for our motorcycles, a true asset of this studio appartment. clean and comfortable even without a/c the only downside was that the internet is a public WiFi and incurs a fee ... so we had to look for open WiFi in the centre if town of which there were a couple that worked fine.
I can't recommend staying with Alessandra enough! She is absolutely the most warm and attentive host I've met on Airbnb and such a lovely person. When we had trouble getting a train into Casale on a Sunday Alessandra even came to pick us up from a nearby city! She was full of recommendations for restaurants and was incredible willing to help me as I planned our trip to Casale, responding promptly to my questions about the town and things like bus schedules to the nearby Sacro Monte. She even gave us a lift back from the Sacro Monte when the walk there was longer than I thought!
One of the best things about our experience was the breakfasts which were delicious and ample. Homemade sweet breads and buns made by her and her mom and sister as well as toast, organic yogurt, and local meats and cheeses. Often we couldn't finish everything and packed a little sandwich for our daytrips!
The flat is bright with large windows and newly furnished in a restored palace. It consists of a living/eating space with a sofa bed and a bedroom that is semi-open to the common area (no door to close the spaces). My husband and I stayed here and it was perfect for 2, but 4 could stay here if the people knew each other well.
The eating space is a bright little nook and table. There's no kitchen but the breakfasts made up for that for sure and there were dishes and cutlery too, so we could bring pizza home for dinner. There's amazing pizza to take away from Pizza Corsica about 6 minutes away. I'd also recommend treating yourself to a nice evening out at Cincinbarlichin... Alessandra recommended it and we had one of the most delicious meals EVER!
As to other amenities, there is a self serve Lavanderia about 4 minutes away and a drying rack in the apartment. There's a bit of noise that trickles in some mornings since the flat is facing a courtyard but it didn't really bother us - it was part of the experience and we felt like we were locals.
We had a wonderful time in the town itself and used it as a home base to explore other sites nearby as well (the Sacro Monte of Crea and Oropa, and Novi Ligure). I wish we'd had a car to see the castles and wineries in the countryside though... and I also wish I could have done some hiking and biking along the Po and in the hills! But there's always next time!
