"The river house is quite amazing. It's in a great location and given the size of the lot, feels quite secluded. We loved our weekend there...lounging outside in the yard, relaxing in the spacious living room, and hanging out by the river. We even had a fire in the fire pit one night. Working with the proprietor was really easy. She provided us with a lot of invaluable information about the area and the house that ensured a simple and fun-filled weekend." c. beck, napa, 8/2012
"We're currently at the house and loving it -- the pictures do not even come close to how nice the property really is.

House was great for our needs. We were in CA for a wine-country wedding, so we did not spend too much time at the house. Comfortable beds and working showers were all we needed -- and that's what we got.
Place can be described as rustic. A little gritty, but still great for the non-discriminating type of person.
While we never met the host - Susan - she was always responsive to my emails and was very thorough in her answers.
This house was great for 8 adults! Very cute, great fireplace, nice grounds, and direct access to the river. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook there (including a dishwasher!) It is rustic but Susan Jan provided everything we needed to be comfortable.
The house and area was just as charming as the reviews led me to believe it was. We just loved walking down to the river and wading through the water, and then enjoying the fireplace in the evenings! There is nothing about the experience I would want to change. Susan gave great recommendations, and we were so sad to have to leave at the end of the weekend.
The Russian River cottage was quite wonderful. It was a great retreat from the city for the weekend. Lazy afternoons and cooking were high on the agenda. The host (Susan Jan) sent helpful hints for hiking, kayaking, wine country, and markets which were all much appreciated.
Firstly, the house was absolutely perfect for our party of 8 adults. It was so conveniently located to some great Forestville beaches, Windsor, Guerneville, and some of our favorite wineries. Susan made sure there were plenty of towels and bedding and even provided soap and a welcoming bottle of wine. The house and it's amenities are truly a reflection of Susan's thoughtfulness and care. She was so kind to not only provide helpful tips about the house but carefully prepared a list of local favorites and suggestions for food and entertainment in the area. All of these was made even better by the secret gem of a private beach which you can walk to from the house. This Russian River Escape and it's kind host truly made our weekend!
I never met Susan, but she was a terrific host with open and thorough communication. My group stayed there during a particularly hot weekend (105+ degrees!) and she was very sympathetic and gave us suggestions for keeping cool, all very handy. (You should note the house doesn't have A/C or WiFi. Mobile reception was okay to very good, depending on location within the house.) This is a rustic, quaint spot that works well for groups. Kids loved the rope swing and sprinkler in the backyard. We all loved the river location, which has a charming view of the bridge and access to kayaking. One thing you should note about the beach area is that it has a steep incline, so you need to use a rope to walk down to the water. The kids went nuts for this, and adults did well with it, but those with limited mobility may want to take note. Looks like there are other entrances to the water (we had trouble finding them), so ask Susan about them if interested. Beds were all comfortable, and the kitchen had basic appliances out for use. The floats Susan left out in the backyard were a bit hit with the kids. Thanks again for the fun weekend!
Susan was a great host. She was very quick at responding to my emails and had lots of good information and recommendations. She was very kind and relaxed and always made sure that we had what we needed. Overall a great experience.
This house is perfectly suited for a group of friends or medium sized gathering. The four bedrooms were ample size, the kitchen ware made it so we could have 10 for dinner, and the outdoor space was a plenty for yard games. We love the river access and our own private beach! This home has character and you will feel like you are back in time in this classically built wood cabin feel... With ease we visited Wildflour Bakery!, Guerneville, a few wineries, and drove to see the sunset on the coast.
Susan was tremendous with communication before and during the weekend. She offered numerous detailed tips on what to do in the area and her enthusiasm for the location and the house made me know that I was getting a sweet deal! I would not hesitate to recommend this property and this owner. So much to do! But do not forget to relax and enjoy the privacy! It was so nice, in a busy vacation area, to have a little nest to retreat to... enjoy!
Susan was so generous with everything related to the trip. She went out of her way to make sure I had no questions and my wife and I were prepared for the trip.
The house had so much character and there are besides the private beach access there we could walk to an additional beach in 5 mins.
Our puppy loved running around the yard and we would absolutely recommend the place to visit for a medium sized group.
