Fixed the bed frame today, a bolt had come loose, & got a new pillow top mattress pad/foam.
Thanks for the other notes Valerie, as we always want to be responsive to our guests.
We are working on other improvements & return renters know about them.
Ironically, just changed the e-mail beach notes today, to provide more information on the 5 beaches to the south, that are more accessible--with paths, and better accessibility to walking, fishing & fire pits; they start at the river end, and go south to the town of Bodega Bay.
Looking forward to your return, & being able to share the improvements from yours and other suggestions.

thanks Rick for the kind words. Look forward to having you back, & introducing your girlfriend to our rescue horses at Icssoma Farm.
the coffee grinder lives there permanently, will see about getting a mixer for others.
(i wasn't clear about the grinder as i seldom drink coffee.)
we are working on a beach platform, which should be finished in August. half way between the beach, to read, sun bathe, see the view from the water, have a late afternoon/evening glass of wine, so people can enjoy dusk "on the river" w. a bit less sand. (there will be stairs to the platform, and eventually they will go to the river as well).
thanks for your kind words.

Thanks Ali, your lovely note was so appreciated. We would be honored to have you back anytime. The flowers are now in a vase & they are still delightful. (going to make notes where things like vases are!)

Response from Susan Jan:

This review floored me so will try to address the concerns.
Glad Ally & her group (9 or more, over our clearly stated limit of 8, no request, or mention of additional people), had "a lovely time overall" & "a great weekend"--happy about that. Now for the basics: we always leave 2-3 rolls of toilet paper upstairs, 2-3 downstairs in the medicine cabinet, along with full bars of dove soap, shampoo, conditioner, & liquid soap.
We also leave a bottle of wine, a bowl of chocolates and assorted candies, and fresh flowers, so if we are aware of shortages, it would be absurd not to have them there. We noticed in dealing with the garbage/recycle (things were mixed so we had to do sorting) 4 unused garbage bags were thrown out with the garbage, so possible that other things were overlooked by the renters as well.
Of course, there are fresh linens for each renter, & everyone gets a set of high quality hotel towels (a full towel, a hand towel & a washcloth, 2 of each, in each of the 4 bedrooms) none for unplanned guests. We ask that people bring beach towels.
Not sure what happen to the roll of paper towels, under the kitchen sink, Salt & Pepper was in the cabinet after they stay,...along with paper napkins, cloth napkins, dish cloths, & freshly laundered dish rags.
Glad to know about the foil & olive oil, would have been happy to replace those items or address concerns when we visited, or any time during the stay--we carry a cell phone 24/7 for any needs, which is posted at the house & mailed out to people in advance. We will make sure for the coming rental there are extra foil, & oil. (Both Ally's group & the previous group, had more people than we allow. The previous people had 4 over our limit, & Ally said when we went to check in with them Saturday morning, that they had 9. Our POLICY CLEARLY STATES 8--when someone is dishonest about the number of people it is hard to know how many over there were. The space is large: house, the yard is almost an acre, & with the path to the beach & the beach it is difficult to know how many people a party has. (In both cases we found out via phone calls of concern from neighbors. ) It is IMPORTANT for RENTERS to be honest about the number of guests in their party, large numbers do make a difference.
When my partner went over to check in with them Saturday morning, Ally & guests were friendly & nice. NO MENTION of concerns or complaints which we could have addressed.
Now would drop the communication to one star, as no mention of these concerns in person 12 hours into their stay. Or any time by phone or email. After we check in once in person, and remind people that we are easy to reach, no news is good news.
Since the number of the people was misstated, and we never heard a complaint on our visit about issues listed above, i would change communication to the lowest rating number of stars.
We try to be flexible. Before i posted my review, i discussed with my partner would we rent to them again, she said she would. I posted average for cleanliness. The house was the messy/dirty: cupcakes in the living room, crumbs & food other places. We tell people that we want them to be on vacation so we don't expect them to "clean" beyond basics.
When they do, we are pleased & give 5 stars. We gave them our lowest rating, 3 stars average, because we want people to enjoy our home, and we know there is always "give & take", and we want to err on the give than the take.
Glad Ally and her friends had "a great weekend overall", surprised to get our lst negative review.
Every year the river changes it, the beach is smaller this year. On Monday, after cleaning several of us went for a great swim, 5 of us were on the beach with towels & our dog, with room for more, easily.
We are building a beach platform, half way down the hillside which will be available for the next renters.
Have no idea about "the musty smell"
The 2nd weber went missing, have changed the description to reflect it.
When the house isn't booked, we stay there, we gave a party in July, & looking forward to our lst weekend this month tomorrow.
Next month we are excited to stay there for 7 days. We have 3 repeat renters this year, and a requests pending from 2 additional ones.
Hope everyone has a "a great weekend"/"lovely time", and if there are concerns when on your lst day, or any time during your stay, you contact us.
Most reviews mention that i work hard to make stays pleasant.
