The space
This is an adorable, 900 sq.ft., two bedroom (OPTIONAL 1 bedroom-see below) house with high, vaulted ceilings and shiny wood floors. The house is a half block off Hana Highway, less than a mile from Paia town and all North Shore Beaches. The nearest beach access is Tavares Beach, about a 5 minute walk away. We are on the mountain side of Hana Highway.

Both bedrooms have queen size beds, plus there is a full size futon/couch in the living area for additional sleeping space. The futon comfortably sleeps 1 adult or 2 children. There is a WINDOW A/C in one of the bedrooms and another WINDOW A/C in the living room area with ceiling fans in both bedrooms, the living room and dining area. The house is equipped with cable, wi-fi, DVD player and a full kitchen that has everything you need to feel right at home. There is an outdoor grill with a bistro set out front and another bistro set on the back porch where you can enjoy an afternoon mai tai or for dining al fresco.

This house is great for a kite surf vacation, surf vacation, family vacation. If you have a large family and need another rental that is close by, our Gingerbread House (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/192610) is on the same property so everybody can be together. Our neighborhood and accommodations are for people who want to be away from the big resorts and feel like you are living in a real Maui neighborhood for a while. Your home away from home!

Guest access
You will have access to outdoor spaces for grilling and socializing. There is free parking beside the house and a shared laundry room with washers and dryers. Boogie boards, beach umbrellas and chairs, fins, yoga mats, etc. are available to our guests on a first come, first serve bases. Also, local shops rent gear and bicycles. If you are traveling with a small child, there are baby rental companies that deliver to us.

Other things to note
This house can, also, be rented as a ONE bedroom house.

ALSO, VERY IMPORTANT!: This house does NOT have CENTRAL air conditioning. It has a window unit in one of the bedroom windows and another window unit in the living/kitchen area.

If you are making a CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY request and any part of it falls between December 22nd and January 2nd, there is a 7 night minimum stay requirement UNLESS we are filling in gaps between reservations.

ONE NIGHT STAY REQUESTS: We reserve the right to decline one night reservations. We are open to accept a one night stay, if it butts up to another reservation OR if it fills in an open night between two existing reservations.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING: Our houses are in a tropical environment, that are near sugar cane fields, where permanent, Maui residents live. If this is your first time visiting Hawaii, please know that insects and geckos MAY find their way into the house. They are a part of island living and we have learned to coexist with them, especially since they are not dangerous and are much more afraid of us than we should be of them. We strive to keep our houses very clean but this does not mean that the houses will be insect free. Like other rentals in this neighborhood and unlike the huge resorts, that get heavy doses of pesticides, have closed windows with central air conditioning, we use limited amounts of minimum impact, natural insecticides since we do not wish to poison ourselves, our guests or the environment. Please keep this in mind when considering booking with us.

Paia, Hawaii, United States

PAIA, HAWAII

It can be difficult to find remnants of authentic
Hawaii behind the multitude of resorts, but this is
one of the last holdouts. Located on Maui's northern
coast just off Highway 36, Paia was founded as a
sugarcane enclave and though the sugar mill closed
in 2000, the town is as alive as ever. Boutiques featuring
everything from high-end fashion to beachwear line the
streets, and with some of the world's best windsurfing
spots in the area, you're sure to find an opportunity
to put your new gear to good use. Because it sits along
the route to Hana, the town is pleasantly devoid of major
resorts and offers a great stopping-off place
for a few hours or a few days.
Our notes: We are within one mile of all North Shore Beaches: Baldwin, Tavares, Paia Bay, Mama's and Ho'okipa. We are on the mountain side of Hana Highway. Paia town has the best healthfood store on the island (with great prices, local produce, freshly baked goods and a hot food take away bar), lots of delicious restaurants, unique shops, gelato parlor, yoga studios, galleries and boutiques.
