We actually stayed with Mango's parents rather than in the flat listed, which was booked up. We had problems getting out to the place as there's no public transport, the taxi driver couldn't find it (it's really far away) and no one around knew their names. We couldn't reach them by phone. 30 minutes later we found it. Mango's parents are lovely, and if you speak Romanian and are looking for an isolated family experience, this is for you. For us, we found ourselves happy to meet them, but pretty helpless to communicate or get around anywhere without mango's dad driving us. We also had to just eat there as there was nothing around. It was nice, but not what we would have chosen to do or eat. And we felt we were imposing. It was very nice of them to include us in their Easter celebrations. But if you're looking to get around to places on your own, explore the area, etc. you'll feel a little stuck there. Can't speak for the flat in this listing though, which I think is better located and you'd be more autonomous to choose your activities and explore.
I was fortunate enough to stay with Mango's parents who were the highlight of my time in Moldova. Words cannot describe the hospitality and the all around fabulous experience. Homemade wine, tour of the area and great food. I found it difficult to leave these two wonderful people. I hope anyone coming to Orhei will seriously consider this as an accommodation.
I had an unbelievable experience. The apartment was very nice ... located amongst few other apartment buildings giving the guest the opportunity to mingle with locals of all ages. The host family went out of their way to make me feel home and enjoy the stay - it was just amazing: they invited me to dine with them drinking excellent wines from their own, took me sightseeing to a couple of monasteries and catacombs, visited the house in the village. I had a 24-hour English translater (the host) on call via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) in case I had any questions. In summary, I met some wonderful and very welcoming people. Very glad I stopped in Orhei during my Moldova trip. This is my first use of Airbnb and a very positive one. In case they see this, I want to thank again Host's mother Veronika and her funny husband, the sister and her family including the footballer-wanna-be Valery ... for the great experience! Also, Moldova is a beautiful country. I could go on and on ...
