Glassworks Building--815 W Market St, upper-floor river-view loft
Stay at one of the most unique and breathtaking places in Louisville. Open the door to this 1,400 square foot upper floor loft, with 12 foot ceilings, and in front of you is an entire wall of windows overlooking downtown and the falls of the Ohio River. The windows are over 40 feet in length and 8 feet in height. Every day I wake up deliriously happy because the first thing I see in the morning is this view, and I stay that way all day for the same reason. I would love for you to experience this during your time in Louisville!
A string of adjectives for you that describe my space. . . Sun-drenched, Modern, Urban and Industrial Chic. The open floor plan allows you to enjoy time together with your friends, and the distinct spaces created using curtains, bookcases and furniture allow you to have more intimate spaces when you choose. The exposed concrete floors give you a raw, industrial feel while the carefully chosen decor warms up the space for a truly comfortable stay in an edgy space.
The space is 1 of 4 upper-floor river-view lofts in the historic Glassworks Building in downtown Louisville. Glassworks is a multi-use facility dedicated to the art of glass featuring 2 working glass studios, 2 glass galleries, a walk-in workshop and daily tours. That gives you a lot to do before you even step outside the building.
Plus, enjoy the convenience of secure parking with a key card access elevator. Should you need anything during your stay, there is 24-hour security at the lobby front desk.
****Another nearly identical in floorplan and comparably decorated and furnished loft is available one floor up to accommodate up to 14 more people. (Check out "My Other Listings" in the right-hand side bar of this listing for details on this space or contact me for the link to the other listing.) Have a large group? We've got you covered with 2 stunning spaces in the same building!****
Staying here, you are in the Glassworks District, adjacent to Museum Row. Without leaving a 2-block radius you can:
--Take the elevator down to Jazzyblu for a cocktail and a spot of live music or, if it's the weekend, chill in their cozy lounge, Blu, with dance music;
--Watch glass blowing artisans working it on the ground level;
--Walk to the world-renowned 21C Museum Hotel which houses restaurant Proof on Main and the 21C contemporary art museum;
--Stroll just a fraction further to up-and-coming restaurant St Charles Exchange and choose a libation from their lengthy cocktail list that showcases turn of the century mixed drinks in a casually elegant space reminiscent of a 1900's hotel lobby bar;
--Meander down Museum Row which includes Frazier History Museum, Glassworks, Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, Kentucky Science Center, Kentucky Museum of Art + Craft, 21c Museum Hotel, The Muhammad Ali Center and The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts;
--or Jog to the Louisville Riverwalk for your morning run in Waterfront Park.
There is more, but I couldn't risk losing your interest by making this section even longer!
Venture a little further east (1.3 miles) on Market on the free downtown TARC trolley and you will find a plethora of amazing and unique restaurants. Louisville (email hidden) and this section, NuLu, is at the heart of the up-and-coming restaurant scene. Also, enjoy antique shops, art galleries and specialty stores.
Still with me? Let's go a little further down the road to The Highlands (about 3 miles to the southeast). Sometimes referred to as "Restaurant Row," the Highlands in Louisville is best known for its eclectic local shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. In fact, the three mile stretch of Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue that intersects the Highlands has the highest density of bars and restaurants in Louisville.
I could keep going, but you are only staying for a couple of days, right?

Sleeping--Sleeps up to 20 people (that's up to 10 queen-size beds)
There are 5 distinct sleeping areas, yet because of the furniture layout it can sleep up to 10 with visual privacy and up to 20 with a little less privacy for 14 of the guests. The master bedroom has a queen size memory foam mattress, mirrored vanity and lounging couch. It has been sectioned off from the space with bookcases and curtains. The 2nd Bedroom is sectioned off with a wall and a curtained doorway and has a queen size memory foam mattress. We can also put in up to 8 more queen-size, memory-foam beds to accommodate up to 20 guests total.
Bathroom--1 Bathroom. (For guest numbers above 6 access to a 2nd bathroom can be provided. Ask me for details.)
There is one toilet, one sink, one mirror, three medicine cabinets, one shower with a tub, and all the clean and new towels you could want.
Eating and Dining areas--Dining area seats up to 13+ people.
There are 2 areas to eat in the dining area: a kitchen table that seats up to 6 and a bar-stool height table that seats up to 7 (from this table you can stare off into the view. . .). Said "bar-stool height table" doubles for quite a few uses, such as a buffet table, a conference table, a standing desk, a dining table (as we've discussed) and, oh yeah, a 42 inch LCD HDTV is sunk inside this virtuoso of a table. So, if you prefer to watch TV while you eat, just command it to rise from the center of the table and stare at it to your heart's content! Did you want to eat? Well, the Kitchen is stocked with appliances and amenities for your dining pleasure. (If there is an appliance that you want, chances are I have it in my personal space + can make it available to you. As they say, "Ask + you shall receive"--well, most probably, if I have what you are looking for!) Also, additional tables can be set up to accommodate larger groups.
Entertaining and Lounging--Welcome to the Lounge Pit. . .
I have a large modular, leather, sectional sofa that can be set up as a huge U-shaped couch or as, what I believe is technically called, a lounge pit with the extra ottomans filling the center. It's a great spot to chill and watch a movie or two or even get some work done on your laptop. Speaking of getting work done, you will have high-speed, password-protected WiFi coursing through your computer. But what will you listen to whilst you are trapped in the lounge pit? How about my iPhone/Andriod/MP3 player docking speakers. Yeah, I think that should about do it. Oh wait, remember that hidden TV? It swivels 360 degrees so you can watch it from virtually anywhere in the loft. Yep, that covers you, the lounge-y one lounging in the lounge pit.
No smoking, no pets (I would get kicked out of my place and I know you don't want that.)
Refundable Damage Deposit and Rental Agreement required.
PLEASE READ THE HOUSE RULES THOROUGHLY BEFORE MAKING A (email hidden)ANKS!
Loft was a blast, amenities were great, housekeeping was a nice touch. All in all, a great experience that I would recommend to anyone. I'm in the customer service profession, and our experience with Sarah ticked every box. Thank you for much!
Sarah was an absolutely fantastic host. This loft was stunning. The view was fabulous-- we could see the river and downtown. If in Louisville, would certainly stay here again. Everything is within walking distance.
We had a wonderful stay at the Derby City Loft. Everything about the space was as described in the listing, and our host, Sarah, worked really hard to make our stay enjoyable. Sarah was in contact with me leading up to our visit and was there to meet us at the door when we arrived at the building. Sarah's restaurant recommendations (Mayan Cafe, Hillbilly Tea) were spot on. The loft itself is beautiful. The four of us could lounge on the huge couch with room to spare while enjoying the view of the Ohio river. We had two fairly private sleeping areas (one bedroom separated with a door and another area enclosed with curtains). My only complaint would be that the mattresses are very firm (although for some people this might be a positive). We would definitely stay there again!
We stayed in one of Sarah's lofts for the Kentucky Derby weekend and it was incredible. Sarah is one of the top five nicest people you will meet. Incredibly kind and accommodating.
The space itself is SICK! Very well furnished with plenty of room for our party of 10.
If you have any hesitation about staying here....don't. It is worth every penny.
Thunder weekend! This place is mind blowing! Perfect view of the fireworks show from our giant, north facing windows. Highly recommend staying with Sarah at any of her properties
We had a really great time at Sarah's loft. Because she was doing some remodeling , she upgraded us to this loft with a stunning river view. We loved every bit of it. Beware that the couch will eat you alive and you will never want to leave it!
The continental breakfast she provided was wonderful - hot and cold cereal, milk, yogurt, juice. She rummaged up extra hangers for us upon request and did everything possible to make our stay nice.
We were a bit concerned walking back from the KFC Yum! Center late at night, but with a bit of awareness of your environment, this isn't a problem.
We hope to visit Louisville again in a couple years and will definitely look into Sarah's lofts for accommodations!
Our stay was absolutely perfect. It is a gorgeous loft, with a perfect location. Sarah was very accommodating..
Loved the place. Perfect for a group of friends looking for an alternative to hotel rooms. Great views, amenities, and location. Sarah was a pleasure to work with. Would highly recommend this place.
Very clean, great location. Sarah was kind enough to let us check in early. She also supplied us with breakfast for the next morning. Great stay!
Sarah was very prompt , professional, and her condo was more than accommodating to my guests and I. I highly recommend.
