The Space

Artist from the West is offering this newly remodeled romantic magical master suite. It is 700 square ft. cozy and private one bedroom with small but very usable kitchen stocked with pans, serving for six dishes and glasses, coffee mugs, french press and tea pot. The refrigerator is almost full size. Some seasonings and olive oil, with a medium sized fridge and large antique drop leaf dining table. It has one bathroom with windows and a skylight with high speed internet that overlooks a beautiful meadow and the Deschutes river! Walk out the French doors to the private deck (private entrance in progress) Original artwork adds to the cozy and peaceful nature of this sanctuary.

This Suite has high ceilings, glass block accents, gas fireplace, private deck, views of the river, Montana pine flooring, lots of artistic liberties were taken here!

There is a small living room with a click clack couch that folds down into a double bed. There is an elegant curtain that closes to create privacy for anyone sleeping in the living room area. There is a beautiful wall with inlaid glass block in between the living room and the bedroom. The bedroom doesn't have a wooden door, instead a creatively placed manzanita branch holds the beautiful fabric that creates privacy for this elegant and unusual suite.

Boat dock 100 steps out the backdoor to kayak, swim, motor boat, or fish. This land is at the edge of national forest with over 50 lakes within 50 miles.

Biking, hiking, golf, cross country skiing right out the back door, and downhill skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling at Mt. Bachelor only 16 miles away. Bend is 20 minute drive to the center of town. The high desert is only 3O miles east of here.

This home is just outside of the Sunriver Resort where there is fine dining, shopping, Art Gallery's, the Nature Center and Observatory along with Horseback riding, swimming, tennis, a luxurious spa and miles of maintained Bike trails.
Things that come with this rental are:
TV (for netflicks, pandora, youtub, etc.)
laundry room
full kitchen (new fridge)
queen size beds
3 Cruiser Bikes
1 Mountain Bike
I flat bottom canoe (nice and sturdy)
2 Kayaks
1 Raft
and always adding to the collection!

Guest Access

Guests will have access to entire property except the area by the sweat lodge unless you have made arrangements to schedule a ceremony. Enjoy the bikes, hiking, kayaks, canoe, rafts, fire circle and boat dock. There is also an air compressor and adapters for your use.

Interaction with Guests

I like to be present to greet you, I enjoy meeting my guests. I live on the far corner of the property and can be seen working in the garden and the yard. When I am around I am happy to help you in anyway I can. Sometimes I am not here because I like to travel like you :)
If I am gone, there is a lock box that is easy to find and you will receive the code and all the instructions for the property in an email and more helpful information will be on the kitchen table when you check in.

The Neighborhood

My neighborhood is quiet, beautiful, full of wildlife with the river here, and very peaceful! Lots of friendly people too.

Getting around

I run my own shuttle service with a 6 passenger Nissan Quest mini van. Shuttle service runs to Bend, Mt. Bachelor, Sisters, wine and brew tours, the airport and more. There is lots of free parking on the property, behind a 6ft privacy fence and gate.

Other Things to Note

This use to be a bed and breakfast, now the four spaces each have their own kitchens and entrances. If you want natural beauty, peace, privacy and quiet solitude, but you also want to be close to activity, grocery stores and events this is the very best place for the price in the area. There is lots of Sunshine here and you can see out to the river and meadow below.
There is a tame little black bunny named "Boo" that runs free around the yard. She will run right up to you. If you are bringing a dog, they need to be on a leash in the yard so the bunny is safe.
There is also a Sweat Lodge here if you would like to participate in a cleansing ceremony please let me know ahead of time so we can schedule it.

  • We had a wonderful time at Lori's Magic Suite. The location is stunning - right on the river and overlooking a beautiful meadow - and the accommodations were comfortable and thoughtful. Communication with Lori was great and check in was a breeze. I appreciated being able to use the bikes and the raft. I would definitely return.

  • We had a great time in Sunriver. Lori was a wonderful host, and her place was adorable. We loved seeing the sunshine and having easy access to Mount Bachelor. Thanks Lori!

  • My boyfriend and I had an amazing weekend in Bend, made all the better thanks to Lori and her magic suite! Thanks to Lori for making her cruisers and canoe available for use, we were able to spend our mornings biking through the sunriver resort trails and canoeing in the afternoon down the deschutes river. We had such a blast, we ended up staying an extra night (which Lori was gracious enough to accommodate - even with the last minute request!). I highly recommend the magic suite to anyone looking for a comfortable and clean place to stay!

  • The Magic Suite is a beautifully constructed unit located on the top story of a large house. It's the perfect size for a couple, very cozy and sweet. Though the living room futon folds out into a bed, the living room is very small, and the bedroom does not have a door, so if you're looking to share this space with a small group, finding privacy might be tough.
This is one of the most beautiful vacation rentals I've seen, especially considering the incredible location (just a quick jaunt to the river!) and the price. Lori designed and decorated it with the care I imagine she might take with her own home, and with all the amenities you would hope to find in a small rental.
The kitchen is more like a kitchenette--it has a counter-top dual hot plate that worked great for heating up simple meals, and a toaster oven which is sufficient for baking a small dish if needed. There is also a sink and a medium-sized refrigerator. Oil, salt and pepper, and a few condiments were also available.
The bed is exceptionally comfortable, with soft sheet and towels provided.
Though attached to the upstairs of the house, the unit has a private entrance via the private deck, though this deck is on the opposite side of the house from the river. This does provide a little privacy from the tenants using the main house, since the deck of the house is on the river side.
The house is located on a road leading to the small boat dock, which is easy to walk to from the house. Lori does have a canoe and kayaks available to use, though we learned we'd need to take them up the river via car in order to float back down to the house. The current was a bit too strong to try taking the kayaks out and paddling back. My car (Toyota hatchback) was too small for this, which was a little disappointing, but the river was still a beautiful place to sit near in the evenings at sun set.
If you're looking for a romantic getaway, keep in mind the unit is attached to a house suitable for a large group, with a shared yard. You will see one another! During our stay, there were several very small children staying downstairs, and though they were very well-managed by their parents, and quiet hours were observed, we could still hear loud talking and running even while inside the upstairs unit. We opted to spend time away from the house in the early morning and late afternoon, when the kids were most active. :)
Lori was away during our stay, but she had a friend stop by to check on us. She was wonderful about providing directions and instructions in advance, so her presence at the house wasn't really necessary. We had a wonderful time! I would recommend this place to a friend.

  • Lori has created a little slice of heaven. The Magic Suite is a delightful nook near the river where we were able to get away from it all. This newly renovated apartment is charming, cozy, and has an undeniable energy. One of the best night sleeps I've had in a long time! The bed is fantastic! The service, amenities, and location were exactly what one needs for a weekend getaway.

  • This was my husband and my first AirBnB experience and trip to OR. We wanted to spend a few days somewhat isolated in a beautiful scenery with adventure surrounding us, if we chose to do so. Lori's place in Sunriver was perfect for our trip. We had a private suite with kitchen, access to bikes (15 min bike ride to the town center), kayaks, fishing poles, tubes and canoes included in our fee. We really enjoyed the warm feel of Lori's place, and although she has many plans and improvements to come, enjoyed what she already put in place for her guests. There were two other families staying at Lori's, and the noise did travel to our room from time to time, but everyone respected the "quiet" hours and we slept fine. The town of Sunriver was a great family hang out, and although we don't have kids yet, enjoyed seeing all the offerings you could bring a family back to. The lava lands and caves weren't far from Lori's place either, and worth the trip to see. It was a really nice visit! We hope to return!

  • Everything about the Magic Suite is magical. Lori is an artist and it shows in every little detail from her magnificent paintings to the unique hardwood floors and to the many candles scattered about the rooms. The suite is ideal for a couple, with a small bedroom, bathroom, living and dining room area, a kitchenette and a deck overlooking the grounds. The bedroom and living room look out over the beautiful river. It's a very peaceful and serene environment. The location is ideal for enjoying the comforts and the amenities of the Sunriver Resort, yet it's less than a half hour to Mt. Batchelor and the many beautiful lakes in the Cascades, if you want to get away from the crowds . Lori is a delightful hostess and was very amenable to meeting our needs. We will be back!

  • Lori has a beautiful property, is super friendly, her art work is remarkable, and overall the stay was great with easy access to the river for canoeing/kayaking with her equipment, and excellent hiking in the area a short drive away (within 45 min drive). The Magic Suite is a beautifully decorated and roomy space in the upstairs part of the house, entrance is through the main entrance->living room->stairway and there is no door separating it from the main house. Likewise the 1 bedroom has no door - be mindful if you're seeking total privacy as you may not get it here (not yet at least as of May 2013). Also whereas the queen bed is extra soft, the sofa which opens to a double bed is hard as a rock, not flat, and was very uncomfortable to sleep on. The kitchen has an electric hot plate that failed to heat properly but the host kindly offered to use her kitchen. One night the downstairs wood stove filled the room with smoke and we had to open all the doors and windows. But overall - it was an exotic experience! :) Most importantly the host listened and promised to correct the deficiencies for next time - and I fully trust she will. I will definitely consider coming back if I know these issues were addressed.

    Response from Lori:

Hi Ofer was one of the first guests to stay at the magic suite where a few things were still being worked on. The suite now has a door that locks and a beautiful staircase made of pine and manzanita to the private deck to give a private entrance to this suite.
Now that we know the hot plate isn't the greatest, even though it was brand new, we are putting a stove top element for cooking right into the counter. The Click Clack couch that is also brand new is still the extra bed, but we have found a really nice pillow top cover to put down on it to make it more cozy until we can find an even better one. Thank you Ofer for your helpful feedback and safe travels to you. Maybe we will see you here again:))
