Had a great time at Lori's private suit in Sunriver. It was in a great location and had great views of the river. It was the perfect size for my wife and I and it was nice having a little kitchenette so that we could enjoy a lovely breakfast in the morning.
I loved staying at the Magic Suite at the River Song Sanctuary! It was just what I needed for my weekend getaway with my husband. The pictures and the description of the place accurately described the place. I enjoyed the complimentary use of the bikes. Wish I could have stayed here longer.
Our suite was well decorated, quite welcoming, and Lori made herself available to answer our questions. We were disappointed that the listed "full kitchen" had a two burner hot plate which took a 1/2 hour to boil water. No oven or microwave either, but there was plenty of mouse feces and urine, all over the flatware, pans, dish drainer, even in the toaster. When we brought this to the attention of Lori, she offered us some cleaning supplies so WE could spend the next 2 hours sanitizing before we could cook dinner! While she did run some of the dishes through her dishwasher (which we had to load) and attempted to prevent the mice from returning, they came back.
If you simply need a place to stay and do not plan on cooking, then this is a lovely location.
The Magic Suite is newly remodeled and we are next to the river and out in the country. This is the first time I have had trouble with a mouse in the house. It just happened to show up when you were here. I did offer to clean and you asked for some cleaning supply's, I left from there to get a mouse trap and I assumed you wanted your privacy and that is why you didn't let me clean. I don't believe in Microwaves as they are destroy our food and our health. My place is ordinarily very clean.
We had a wonderful time at Lori's Magic Suite. The location is stunning - right on the river and overlooking a beautiful meadow - and the accommodations were comfortable and thoughtful. Communication with Lori was great and check in was a breeze. I appreciated being able to use the bikes and the raft. I would definitely return.
We had a great time in Sunriver. Lori was a wonderful host, and her place was adorable. We loved seeing the sunshine and having easy access to Mount Bachelor. Thanks Lori!
My boyfriend and I had an amazing weekend in Bend, made all the better thanks to Lori and her magic suite! Thanks to Lori for making her cruisers and canoe available for use, we were able to spend our mornings biking through the sunriver resort trails and canoeing in the afternoon down the deschutes river. We had such a blast, we ended up staying an extra night (which Lori was gracious enough to accommodate - even with the last minute request!). I highly recommend the magic suite to anyone looking for a comfortable and clean place to stay!
The Magic Suite is a beautifully constructed unit located on the top story of a large house. It's the perfect size for a couple, very cozy and sweet. Though the living room futon folds out into a bed, the living room is very small, and the bedroom does not have a door, so if you're looking to share this space with a small group, finding privacy might be tough.
This is one of the most beautiful vacation rentals I've seen, especially considering the incredible location (just a quick jaunt to the river!) and the price. Lori designed and decorated it with the care I imagine she might take with her own home, and with all the amenities you would hope to find in a small rental.
The kitchen is more like a kitchenette--it has a counter-top dual hot plate that worked great for heating up simple meals, and a toaster oven which is sufficient for baking a small dish if needed. There is also a sink and a medium-sized refrigerator. Oil, salt and pepper, and a few condiments were also available.
The bed is exceptionally comfortable, with soft sheet and towels provided.
Though attached to the upstairs of the house, the unit has a private entrance via the private deck, though this deck is on the opposite side of the house from the river. This does provide a little privacy from the tenants using the main house, since the deck of the house is on the river side.
The house is located on a road leading to the small boat dock, which is easy to walk to from the house. Lori does have a canoe and kayaks available to use, though we learned we'd need to take them up the river via car in order to float back down to the house. The current was a bit too strong to try taking the kayaks out and paddling back. My car (Toyota hatchback) was too small for this, which was a little disappointing, but the river was still a beautiful place to sit near in the evenings at sun set.
If you're looking for a romantic getaway, keep in mind the unit is attached to a house suitable for a large group, with a shared yard. You will see one another! During our stay, there were several very small children staying downstairs, and though they were very well-managed by their parents, and quiet hours were observed, we could still hear loud talking and running even while inside the upstairs unit. We opted to spend time away from the house in the early morning and late afternoon, when the kids were most active. :)
Lori was away during our stay, but she had a friend stop by to check on us. She was wonderful about providing directions and instructions in advance, so her presence at the house wasn't really necessary. We had a wonderful time! I would recommend this place to a friend.
