Gorgeous simple wooden house with beautiful rice field views all the way to Mount Agung. 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and landscaped garden. Peaceful and calm but only 20 minutes walk from Ubud main road through the rice fields or 5 minutes by road.
For your next stay in Bali, why pay for a hotel when you can have an entire house with a gorgeous private garden and rice field views for cheaper?!
Our cozy wooden house in the rice fields has views on both sides, with an uninterrupted view to Mount Agung. You can get up early and watch the sunrise over the volcano and the mists in the rice fields from the balcony - magical!
There are 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed and mosquito nets, and 2 living areas, over 2 floors- ideal for up to 4 people with an additional travel cot for a child if required. There is an open-air (covered) kitchen, which is lovely for sitting in and enjoying your breakfast in the rice field breezes. The bathroom is located to the side of the main house across a covered corridor and has hot water and includes a bathtub and separate shower. The toilet is separate from the main bathroom.
We built this home for our own family and we want you to enjoy staying there as if it was your own home. We've included everything you may need during your stay in Ubud. The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, fridge, toaster oven, rice cooker, plates, cutlery and cooking equipment. In the living room is a TV, dvd player and a selection of books and DVDs. We even have a washing machine so you don't need to worry about taking trips to the laundry.
The gazebo in our walled garden is perfect for relaxing in and there is ample parking space behind a lockable gate (we are located on a road with full car access, unlike many Ubud villas which can only be accessed by motorbike).
There is a lovely walk through the rice fields into Ubud which takes about half an hour. We're located about 2km away from the Yoga Barn so this is ideal if you're planning on taking some yoga classes while in Ubud. I can also supply a yoga mat on request and our upstairs living area is ideal for practicing at the house.
Just down the road is a lovely Indonesian restaurant (Sawah Indah) which is perfect for dinner if you don't feel like going into Ubud. We're also within a few minutes walk of Bale Udang and Janggar Ulam restaurants - search for them online to see how gorgeous they are and how yummy the food looks! If you just feel like a night in, many restaurants in Ubud deliver free of charge and we keep takeaway menus and a local mobile phone in the house for your use.
We provide bed linens and towels and the house will be stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, soap and bottled water before your arrival.
If you have young children, feel free to make use of the travel cot and mattress in the house. We can also supply toys and books on request.
Breakfast can be arranged for an additional cost and we can also organise cooking classes, airport pickup, day trips, motorbike hire and other transport. My husband Made is Balinese and grew up in Ubud and will be happy to show you around some amazing sights off the beaten tourist trail!
Wi-Fi internet is available - please ask for details.
We live just down the road so we're easy to get hold of if you have any problems. We also provide a mobile phone with local sim card so you can call us if you need anything.
We look forward to welcoming you into our home!

Interaction with Guests
We live very close to the house and normally pop over a couple of times during your stay to check everything is ok. However we appreciate many guests enjoy the privacy of the house so we'll generally leave you to it unless you have any problems.
We've also enjoyed drinks, dinner and days out with many of our guests in the past - we're keen to make new friends with those who want to!
If you need us for anything we're just a phone call away and we provide a phone with local sim so you can get in touch easily.
Our house is located in a small village on the outskirts of Ubud with lots of families and a community feel. We're blessed with beautiful rice field views but still very close to the centre of Ubud. As this is mainly a local area there are lots of great restaurants around with good local food at reasonable prices.
Getting around by motorbike is the easiest option in Ubud and we provide motorbike hire for 50k rp per day. It's also possible to catch a local bus "bemo" from the main road into town. Taxis (private cars) are easily available from asking at Sawah indah restaurant or on the main road.
Walking into Ubud is possible either via the rice fields (highly recommended) or the road (not so recommended!) - it takes about 30-40 minutes to walk in, depending on where you want to be. If you're planning to walk, I'd advise leaving either early morning or late afternoon as it can get very hot during the day.
We also provide a transport service to anywhere you need. Prices are in the house manual or ask me for a specific destination. We offer airport pickup for 350,000rp
The house has full car access and secure car parking.
Other Things to Note
Please think of our house as a rustic tropical countryside cottage - it's not a 5* luxury villa so if this is what you're looking for, this might not be the place for you. Most of our guests love the peace and quiet, simple lifestyle and closeness to nature.
The house is not completely sealed to allow the breeze to circulate. While this means it stays cool, it also sometimes allows rain to blow in during heavy storms. We have waterproofed as much as possible but the tradeoff for having a beautiful wooden house means that sometimes we have to deal with a couple of leaks in rainy season!
There are some new houses being built on the road leading up to the house at the back. This work is usually very quiet and does not interrupt the views to the front of the house. Unfortunately there is building everywhere in Ubud at the moment!
As we built this house as our family home, we expect our guests to treat it with respect as if it was their own. As we live in a quiet residential area and sound travels easily over the rice fields we ask that guests don't play loud music or have wild parties late at night!
Smoking only outside the house please - the outside kitchen, balcony and gazebo are all lovely places to sit and enjoy the breeze.
We loved staying at Rachel and Made's house in Ubud. Made picked us up at the airport and was an engaging host and driver, and maybe just a little bit cheeky. It was a delightful welcome to Bali for our special mother/daughter/sister getaway. He made us the most wonderful breakfast the next morning and was a great guide and host when we hired him for a day of touring. There is a comprensive house book that has all sorts of information about the house and its amentities and helpful tips about local restaurants and detailed instructions for the 20 to 30 minute walk through the paddy fields to Ubud. Sitting on the balcony we drank copious cups of tea and watched the every day life of Balinese rice paddy farmers, the view is fantastic. We would recommend this property to anyone travelling to Ubud.
Rachel was very helpful and nice, thanks a lot! Charming little house with a nice view over the rice fields.
Incredible villa and a great stay! Good location and very peaceful neighborhood. Rachel was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend staying here!
Beautiful home for a good price. About 15 min by car to the center of Ubud. Rachel was very nice and greeted us at the house.
Our family made such wonderful memories staying at Rachel's place!
The house is set in the middle of a beautiful rice field and the view from the upper deck is spectacular day and night. The garden around the house is very well maintained and gives the house an added level of privacy.
There is no AC so you will want to leave the doors and windows open when you are home. There is a nice breeze from the rice fields so not having AC was not a problem. The kitchen and the walkway to the bathroom/shower are outside so you will have to get use to sharing your space with the local critters This was a bit hard for our 5yr old who would not go to the bathroom without an escort for fear of a spider surprising him. He did however make friends with all the snails, frogs, and lizards that would come out to play after a good rain.
The house is a bit further of a walk from Ubud center than we had hoped, but we were able compile a list of taxi drivers so getting into the center was not usually a problem. If you are comfortable renting a motorbike I would recommend it. Even though it's further from the center there are still several great restaurants and a few small markets you can walk to easily.
Rachel and Made were great hosts! They live just up the road and were very responsive when we needed anything. Rachel even brought a couple books and toys over for our son to play with during our stay.
Overall a wonderful home! I would recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic experience in Bali.
We had a great time at Rachel's place! It was just as described. it is a bit removed from the main road, but there are both cheaper and fancier restaurants nearby. The walk through the rice fields is a real treat and we did it almost every day. Definitely try Warung Mangga Madu for reasonable and delicious food and coffee - it's just down the road from where the rice field walk ends.
Rachel met us at the house and made us feel very welcome. Everything we needed was provided, including coffee, towels, soap, etc. The shower was legitimately hot, which was a real treat. Staff came by to do blessings and maintenance throughout our stay, keeping the place in tip top shape.
The stairs to the upper bedroom were a little steep which could be a problem for small children or people who have trouble getting around, but it was fine for us. Also, the place is 'integrated' with nature so you will need to prepared to welcome the critters that may share the home with you. Again, we enjoyed being in the countryside, bugs and all. Embrace it, you're in Bali! If you don't want ants on the table you'll have to go back to whatever cold, non-tropical place you probably came from :)
This was my first airbnb experience and I stayed with a friend at 2BD Wood house in Ubud rice fields. The communication with Rachel was very good from before we arrived and also during the stay. We got replies to any questions very fast and very accurately. The residence looks even nicer than in the pictures! It was really fantastic, with a fantastic view, very silent, and with good internet access, water, fan, kitchen facilities etc.. We were warmly welcomed by Rachel upon arrival, and we met her husband Made the day after. Rachel and Made produced a nice guidebook, with pictures and activities we could do and they were always ready to help us organize whatever we wanted to do or with travels/driver. Rachel and Made live very near in case of need (we didn't have any problems). I will never forget this experience and if I go back to Ubud I certainly hope there will be a place at Rachel's and Made's wonderful place!! Thanks
