For your next stay in Bali, why pay for a hotel when you can have an entire house with a gorgeous private garden and rice field views for the same price (or cheaper!)
Our cozy wooden house in the rice fields has views on both sides, with an uninterrupted view to Mount Agung. You can get up early and watch the sunrise over the volcano and the mists in the rice fields from the balcony - magical!
There are 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed and mosquito nets, and 2 living areas, over 2 floors. There is an open-air (covered) kitchen, which is lovely for sitting in and enjoying your breakfast in the rice field breezes. The bathroom has hot water and includes a bathtub and separate shower. The toilet is separate from the main bathroom.
We built this home for our own family and we want you to enjoy staying there as if it was your own home. We've included everything you may need during your stay in Ubud. The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, fridge, toaster oven, rice cooker, blender, plates, cutlery and cooking equipment. In the living room is a TV, dvd player and a selection of books and DVDs. We even have a washing machine so you don't need to worry about taking trips to the laundry.
The gazebo in our walled garden is perfect for relaxing in and there is ample parking space behind a lockable gate (we are located on a road with full car access, unlike many ubud villas which can only be accessed by motorbike).
There is a lovely walk through the rice fields into Ubud which takes about half an hour. We're located about 1.5km away from the Yoga Barn so this is ideal if you're planning on taking some yoga classes while in Ubud.
We provide bed linens and towels and the house will be stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, soap and bottled water before your arrival.
Breakfast can be arranged for an additional cost and we can also organise airport pickup, day trips, motorbike hire and other transport.
We look forward to welcoming you into our home!

The wooden house was perfect! Rachel greeted us and showed us around, and the house had everything we needed. The house is in an idyllic spot, the directions were spot on, and our three days were wonderful. The outdoor kitchen was a treat to cook in and the house is spacious and comfortable. Should I ever return to Bali, the wooden house and its amazing view is on my list!
We stayed at Rachel and Made's house for 2 nights. It was more than I expected because I didn't expect to get an entire home to ourselves! It was located right on the rice fields and was beautiful!
They had an amazing well-kept garden, laundry, television and 2 huge sized beds!
They arranged airport pick up for us and Made also offered to take us out on day trips for reasonable prices. Made was very flexible where he took us and even took us to off the tourist route food places!
I would definitely recommend this place to stay at for anyone that wants a little getaway from the city life!
We were disappointed with our stay at Rachel's wooden house. In fact, we left halfway through our paid stay.
There were quite a few issues, and while Rachel did help with some, at other times she was unresponsive, and we were left in the dark (literally) with no idea what was going on.
We arrived at night, and only had a cursory run through of the house. Rachel had left her kids and was in a hurry to go back. Our driver had a tough time getting into the place, as the last 80 meters is a mud pit masquerading as a dirt road. Walking out on this road was quite difficult.
I feel the description of the house was incomplete. The bathroom/shower are outside the house. So you've got to open the noisy sliding doors and try not to wake up all the rest of the inhabitants of the house. This is almost impossible. Especially as anyone doing anything upstairs will keep you awake.
There are locks of a sort on the sliding doors but some are hard to lock. The house has settled, and the one for the living room porch was so hard to lock, that once locked, I just left it, as I didn't want to waste another 5 minutes on it.
We had asked Rachel about hiring a motorbike, but she didn't respond until night time, long past when we needed it. She then said she'd give us some names that night, and didn't until the next day.
One of the worst things is that the electricity went out at about 9pm. We had no idea why. All the neighbors lights were on. Rachel didn't answer on either of her contact numbers. No flashlight in the house. Luckily we had a small one of our own. We checked the breaker box, but nothing was tripped.
Finally after half an hour or so, it just turned back on. Rachel later said we must have had too many electrical items on. This is ridiculous, as we had the same items on each night we were there. The lights and TV. If someone was taking a shower, perhaps the water heater would kick on.
As someone who's very familiar with Indonesia, I know all about the electrical problems here. I'm not going to plug in a hairdryer when a bunch of other electrical items are on. Rachel also stated that there is another circuit breaker in someones house that she can only get to during the day. Unbelievable.
Other airbnb locations I've stayed at, have a nice house/attraction manual, and things to do. Rachel seems new at this, and didn't seem to be as well prepared. We even had to use our own batteries for the TV remote.
We had a motorcycle pull up outside our gate after midnight, and stay there for hour+. Somewhat menacing in such a remote area.
I wouldn't recommend this house for anyone with small kids. The stairs are too dangerous.
I'm quite honestly shocked to read this review. They did leave early but I assumed it was because the house was too small for them - they had squeezed 6 people into our house that is meant for a maximum of 4 and I even agreed to provide an extra bed at no cost. I expressed concern at the fact that they were leaving earlier than expected and asked if there were any problems or anything I could help with - I got no response.
When they checked in I spent half an hour going through everything in the house and talking to them. I even put up a cot bed for their daughter.
We have a box including with lots of tourist information on the bookshelf including numbers for drivers and to rent motorbikes and this was pointed out to them. I'd also offered to arrange motorbike rental before they arrived, with no response.
I do apologise about the electricity but that was very much out of our control. It has never gone off unexpectedly in 2 years, since we paid to increase the power, so it was probably a simple power cut. when we built the house there were no power lines, hence needing to take a line from another house which is why the power breaker is there - we've now ordered for it to be moved by the electric company now that the proper lines are in place.
As for the house itself, it's very clear in the photographs what you're getting. This is not a big luxury villa (which is reflected in the price!) It's a simple, but comfortable wooden house in the rice fields. Yes there is mud on the road - we're in the rice fields! when it rains it gets muddy! To suggest that your driver had problems driving through a puddle of mud is quite frankly ridiculous. The bathroom is outside from the main building because it would be very impractical to have a bathroom made of wood! It's literally 2 steps out of the house to the bathroom across a covered corridor.
Obviously I have no idea why there would be a motorbike outside (visiting the neighbours i assume?!) but it is hardly a remote area - we have neighbours on both sides and there are lots of families living in the area. We also live in this area and feel very safe here.
I guess that's all I have to say. I'm extremely dissapointed about this review and we've revised our house rules as a result of it - we'll no longer offer an extra bed to allow more than 4 people to stay in the house. Hopefully you can see from the other reviews that this guest is very much an exception to the many happy guests we've had in the 3 years we have been hosting.
We really enjoyed Rachel and Made's wooden house in Ubud, although we had some problems finding the place at first (don't trust (website hidden) maps when travelling in Indo). It was clean, cosy, and quite cool at night, even though there wasn't any fan nor AC. The house lies on a little calm road next to some rice fields, and it took about 10 minutes by car to get to the central parts of Ubud. Rachel met us upon our arrival, showed us around, and gave us all the info we needed for our stay.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Rachel and Made's house in Ubud is great. We stayed for two weeks and were very comfortable. There is no air conditioning, but you dont need it if you are smart about opening the windows at the right time of day etc. We hired a car for the second week of our stay and that made the place even better - I would recommend that (or scooters). There are also Bemos that drive by on the main road. They are a cheap way in and out of Ubud. Rachel was always available by phone, and very helpful. We would definitely stay again.
What a fantastic place to stay! We stayed in this villa while traveling most days on motorbikes. The view is spectacular and the house is incredibly comfortable. Rachel is a wonderful host.
Beautiful house and peaceful surroundings among the ricepaddies. We can enjoy the greenery sitting in the balcony in the second floor, listening the voice of nature.
Thanks, Rachel is very nice but sadly we haven't got a chance to meet her and the family. The house is clean and nice with a garden, very suitable for family.
