Gorgeous simple wooden house with beautiful rice field views all the way to Mount Agung. 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and landscaped garden. Peaceful and calm but only 20 minutes walk from Ubud main road through the rice fields or 5 minutes by road. Monthly stays only, ideal for those looking for somewhere to settle in Ubud longer term.

The space

House now available long term only from January 2016. Minimum stay of one month, cheaper rates the longer you stay! (Please contact me to discuss) Bills (electric, internet etc) and cleaning not included, though I can help you arrange these.

Our cozy wooden house in the rice fields has an amazing uninterrupted view to Mount Agung. You can get up early and watch the sunrise over the volcano and the mists in the rice fields from the balcony - magical!

There are 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed and mosquito nets, and 2 living areas, over 2 floors- ideal for up to 4 people with an additional travel cot for a child if required. There is an open-air (covered) kitchen, which is lovely for sitting in and enjoying your breakfast in the rice field breezes. The bathroom is located to the side of the main house across a covered corridor and has hot water and includes a bathtub and separate shower. The toilet is separate from the main bathroom.

We built this home for our own family and we want you to enjoy staying there as if it was your own home. We've included everything you may need during your stay in Ubud. The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, fridge, toaster oven, rice cooker, plates, cutlery and cooking equipment. In the living room is a TV, dvd player and a selection of books and DVDs.

The gazebo in our walled garden is perfect for relaxing in and there is ample parking space behind a lockable gate (we are located on a road with full car access, unlike many Ubud villas which can only be accessed by motorbike).

There is a lovely walk through the rice fields into Ubud which takes about half an hour. We're located about 2km away from the Yoga Barn so this is ideal if you're planning on taking some yoga classes while in Ubud. I can also supply a yoga mat on request and our upstairs living area is ideal for practicing at the house.

Just down the road is a lovely Indonesian restaurant (Sawah Indah) which is perfect for dinner if you don't feel like going into Ubud. We're also within a few minutes walk of Bebek Tepi Sawah, Bale Udang, Warung Hana, and Janggar Ulam restaurants - search for them online to see how gorgeous they are and how yummy the food looks! If you just feel like a night in, many restaurants in Ubud deliver free of charge and we keep takeaway menus in the house for your use.

We provide bed linens and towels and we also have a filter for making unlimited drinking water.

Other things to note

Please think of our house as a rustic tropical countryside cottage - it's not a 5* luxury villa so if this is what you're looking for, this might not be the place for you. Most of our guests love the peace and quiet, simple lifestyle and closeness to nature.

The house is not completely sealed to allow the breeze to circulate. While this means it stays cool, it also sometimes allows rain to blow in during heavy storms and sometimes insects to get in. We have waterproofed as much as possible and provide mosquito nets but the tradeoff for having a beautiful wooden house means that sometimes we have to deal with a couple of leaks around windows and doors in rainy season!

As we built this house as our family home, we expect our guests to treat it with respect as if it was their own. As we live in a quiet residential area and sound travels easily over the rice fields we ask that guests don't play loud music or have wild parties late at night!

Smoking only outside the house please. As the grass roofing material is highly flammable, no cigarettes, candles, incense or mosquito coils are permitted inside the house or on the balcony. The kitchen and gazebo are both lovely breezy places to sit if you wish to smoke. Please make sure cigarettes are extinguished in a suitable ashtray!

Our family had a wonderful experience here. You can't get a more beautiful view than the rice fields in the backyard. Our two daughters made friends with the three kittens and didn't want to leave. We loved the simplicity of this home too. Very basic and perfect for our needs. Great value for your money. Rachel was wonderful and responsive with communication and Made checked us in with no problems. We loved the path through the rice fields into Ubud most! Gorgeous and scenic with every step. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Rachel and Made. Aloha... until next time.

Rachel's home is absolutely wonderful. It is a two story home. There is a lot of space. The garden is beautiful and zen like. Having a kitchen was a major bonus. She & and her husband are very sweet people. They were very informative. They tried their best to answer any inquiries we had and offer the best activities to do in Ubud. The only issue is the lack of service. We stayed there for 4 days and we used the same towel each night. The bedsheets were a bit rough so my friends and I used the blankets we received from our airline flight to line both beds. Regardless of those issues, we still had a wonderful stay. I recommend this place for any air bnb travelers.

Rachel's place is lovely but it does come with a set back. Although the mornings are quite peaceful the neighborhood is being built up so there are four houses under construction making the days more enjoyable out and about in nature. The place is a do it yourself kinda vibe, with most of your amenities covered depending on what you need. Its spacious, enjoyable, and has a nice view. Its about 7 -10 minutes outside of Ubud center but is off a very busy main road, so if you are new to scootering it can be slightly intimidating but a great way to learn fast. Rachel doesn't come around much, but is very fast to respond to any questions.

Our party had a relaxing and serene time at The Wooden House. Maade was very available to assist in all our tour needs and we shared a wonderful day exploring the Ubud region largely thanks to Maade's extensive local knowledge. Also, a wonderful restaurant next door that serves very good duck and bamboo BBQ fish. Thanks!

Rachel made us feel very welcome, and was most accomidating to our needs. We would enquire about a spontaneous adventure, and Arik, their driver was on it! The home is located in such a tranquil setting, alongside rice fields with a beautiful garden space with views. It was such a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Ubud and all our sight seeing. It's a fairly quiet neighborhood where we felt totally safe. It is very nice that there are several restaurant options within close walking distance. We enjoyed walking through the rice fields as well. We are grateful to have chosen this fun house for our Ubud area stay!

I'm from the UK but have been living in Bali since 2009. My husband is Balinese, we have 2 children and live in a traditional family compound near Ubud.
