Check-in & Check-out.
We strive to be as flexible as possible, and for this to work we need to know your plans in terms of arrival time and for instance flight number, ferry arrival time or bus. Since we do not live in the Old Town but 30 minutes away. Also really good if you have a cell phone so you can text us on arrival.

The earliest we ask our guests to leave is at 10:00 so we can have the place ready at the very latest 11:00.

Guest Access

All yours, with respect :)

Interaction with Guests

On arrival to the Old City, I will come and meet you at the main entrance "Pile Gates" and take you to the apartment where after a tour we can sit down and I will answer any questions you might have and I can give you a few of my recommendations. Apart from this I am always available - so ask away!

The Neighborhood

About Dubrovnik:

Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Croatian Adriatic, is included in the UNESCO's World Heritage list, and there are 1436 protected historic buildings that testify to it. The historic city of Dubrovnik, the former centre of the Republic of Dubrovnik, is surrounded by a 2 kilometre long city wall that has protected the city for centuries against attacks from the land and sea. A most wonderful city developed within the walls with its numerous churches, palaces, cultural monuments as well as the Stradun, the famous promenade, where you can see people from all over the world, young and old alike, which used to be the scene of all major happenings in the past. The proximity of numerous islands, the clean sea, the rich natural and cultural heritage, the Mljet National Park, the old historic villas and promenades, are some of the features that make the Dubrovnik Riviera one of the most attractive destinations in Croatia.

Getting around

The Old City (email hidden) only, but only 2 minutes walking is the main bus / taxi stops, as well as sea kayaking. And 4 minutes away is the Old City harbour with excursions and transfers to e.g. Lokrum Island or Cavtat Bay

Check In
  • This apt is not on a quiet street! It is a corner unit with windows above restaurants and bars with outside seating. Honestly the noise level was unbearable at night, luckily we brought earplugs which managed to filter out some of the noise. On the apt's street, there are no fewer than 5 bars/restaurants.

Although we told Maro when we were arriving, we still had to wait 30 minutes for the house cleaner to let us in, then we had to 30 more mins as she forgot the towels. Finally, a huge annoyance is the lock to the front door of the building as the key needs to be jiggled to engage the tumbler. It took the house cleaner 5-10 mins to open and she's used to it. All in all the worst stay of our trip. Avoid if you want a place to rest from your travels.

  • Gorgeous apartment in an amazing location. Maro and his girlfriend were very accommodating. Apartment was exactly as described, very clean. There are great bars and restaurants directly below it; this does mean it is a bit noisy at night.

  • We were only at the apartment for one night so I hope I can give a fairly balanced view.
The apartment was centrally located, very clean and comfortable. There was only two of us so there was more than enough space.
The location is excellent and once you step out of the building, you are sharing an alley way with one of the best bars in Dubrovnik! Very handy indeed.
Maro was a very friendly host. He pointed out various places of interest on a map he had prepared for us and seemed to be a very chilled, laid back kind of guy.
    The beds were comfortable.
The only issue was with noise. Being so centrally located comes at a cost i guess. The walls and windows are paper thin so you can hear everything.

  • Position, position, position!!! This lovey ,spacious apartment is fabulously situated in the old town and very easily accessed on arrival at the Pile gate.Didnt meet Maro but his girlfriend kindly did the meet and greet and made sure we settled in.yes there are cafes and restaurants downstairs..there are everywhere in Dubrovnik..but they didn't intrude at all and it was never too noisy.
Definitely recommend a stay here.thank you Maro

  • We had a fantastic experience at Maro's apartment. We were a company of 3, stayed 3 nights, and had a wonderful time, right in the center of the old town, with so many restaurants and bars, sites and the port nearby. The apartment is clean, the beds are very comfortable, there is a lot of space and sunlight, the view from the little balcony is terrific! All in all, a great experience, this is a steal for the price and is highly recommended.

  • Great location in old town and also right over the number 1 rated restaurant and wine bar of Dubrovnik so light sleepers beware!
Maro not only met us even with our delayed flight schedule; he also met the lost luggage person and delivered our bags right to us when they arrived on our last day at his place. A very attentive host for sure and eager to help in all ways possible.

  • This apartment is well located, but Dubrovnik old town is so small that any location in the old town should be good.
The host is a friendly person, the apartment however is not comfortable to stay in. It's dirty, has a lot of dusty junks lying around thd apartment. Kitchen utensils are very dated and worn out. Lots of old pots and pans, plates, glasses etc stored in the cupboard but appeared dirty and dusty. On the wall, there is even a black and white 'grand dad's' photo! The refrigerator is not cleaned properly and the freezer compartment caked with ice. in addition there are restaurants on both corners of this 2nd floor apartment, tables are placed on the alley ways so noise from diners can continue on till midnight. Problem is made worst by the old window systems which don't shut tightly nor double glazed.
But worst of all, the bed linens weren't fresh, the sheets smell terrible like they have not been washed for a while. The host eventually delivered some clean sheets but we had to change them ourselves.
This apartment needs a lot a sprucing up before it could be advertised on airbnb.

    Response from Maro Bjørk:

People told me that we would eventually have guests that are just unhappy, and that I should ignore it - but this review is just so negative and in some regards hurtful, especially the comments about the picture of "Stevo" which is the owners departed dad, as well as her things to which is referred to as junk.

As I told the guest, it is my grandmother’s best friends apartment that we help rent out since she is a great 81 - and perhaps some of her things are old but so is she. Instead of removing all of her things we think they give charm to it, and if somebody wants to use some of the many quirky items, why not. All the items in the main cupboards are continually washed as they are used, but with her items that are stored away and not used, well then they should be washed if needed.

For this guest it was perhaps just not the ideal city to visit, since the Old Town in Dubrovnik is also "old", and very popular which means people in the streets. There are restaurants in almost all streets that are easily reachable - a key prerequisite for the guest. But there are no bars / pubs that are open late within hearing distance - and the restaurants are the cozy no. 1 on Tripadvisor wine bar D'ivino and the no. 2 Nishta vegetarian restaurant.

For future guests please note that the Dubrovnik Old Town (email hidden) only and there are no elevators, and the flat is as written on the 2nd floor so yes there are stairs up to it :).

This brings me to the key matter of the sheets, for which we really do feel very bad and confused and here are the verifiable details:
@ 21:05 Guest raises issues about sheets - @ 21:13 When I read it I reply in mail as well as text:: “Hi, that is very bad :( we don't understand why since we have washed and dried them all in our house. Is it all of them? My girlfriend will bring you new ones now if you have not gone to bed. “ - @ 22:00 My girlfriend is there with new sheets, to which the reply was "already" - We live 30 minutes away plus parking. So the comment: "The host eventually delivered some clean sheets" is unfair since it was as fast as humanly possible. Also changing them would of course had been done if she had been asked inside, we were not given the dirty sheets, which oddly enough in most cases were left on, with the new sheets pulled over them. Still we have apologised in writing and in person to the guest since cleanliness is paramount!
