Cross the bridge and enter our little artsy, woodsy, heaven. Our eco-friendly, timberframe style home was designed by us, and is located along a winding brook on 17 wooded acres in central Vermont. We offer a double bed in a private, sun-filled, first-floor bedroom with separate bathroom. Though the property is on a quiet country road, it is just 15 minutes from the Vermont capital, Montpelier, and even closer to Waterbury, home of Ben and Jerry's and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. The Mad River Valley is an easy 20-minute drive, and Stowe Village is 30 minutes away. Opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, and fishing abound. There are hiking trails on the property, flower and vegetable gardens, and a babbling brook that is wonderfully soothing to fall asleep to. An on-site hot tub is available and is especially nice under the stars.
In addition to being artists, Galen and John are professional massage therapists, and can book you for a treatment for an additional fee.
We will be serving up a yummy breakfast for our overnight guests.

Galen and John could not be any more dreamy. I felt welcomed like an old friend. Their space is delightful and warmed by wood stoves. And their dog is a sweetheart. 5 Stars +
Completely lovely! Cozy, rustic, fun, well-equipped. We stayed here for a ski weekend and were within a half hour drive of three nordic centers- wonderful location. We enjoyed the hot tub each night, star gazing as the perfect end to the day, and found everything to be very pleasant. Galen is a great communicator and proactive hostess. Loved the suggestions for dinner and unusual New England activities from John! And the fireplace in the living room was beautiful on the cold nights.
Galen and John were sweet and relaxed hosts. Their home was a remarkable place to stay from the engaging art work, amazing hot tub under the stars and loving pup, Luna. My girlfriend and I would stay again in a heartbeat.
Galen and John are more than just the perfect hosts. They are kind, accommodating, engaging without obligation, sure - but beyond these airbnb standards they have also built a beautiful house (and life) that's a pleasure to see: if you're lucky, John will give you a tour of the house and you'll get to see whatever amazing paintings Galen is working on in her studio. Very highly recommended.
Galen was out of town, so John acted as our host. Everything was great! They have such an awesome, colorful house surrounded by amazing forests.
From the moment we walked in the door, we felt immediately welcomed. John even wished my girlfriend a belated birthday, a detail that I had put in the original request weeks ago. We were given a room downstairs with its own bathroom adjacent to it. The other bedrooms were upstairs.
We also had access to the hot tub which was about 30 yards away from the house. It was a perfect night for it when we got there. Huge moon in the sky and chilly weather. Quite a contrast to the warm hot tub.
John also made us breakfast in the morning and was careful to ask if there were any dietary restrictions or preferences. The omelets on Day One were delicious and possibly bested by the French Toast and bacon on Day Two.
The location of the house was also very convenient. We were able to get to Montpelier in about 20 minutes and Waterbury in about 15 minutes. Burlington was about 35 minutes away.
We would definitely recommend staying with Galen and John!
Wonderful, easy, friendly host! Perfect location and excellent hot coffee and breakfast! Thanks John.
Just a few highlights: hot tub under the stars, delicious breakfast, cute and comfy bedroom, guided walk through the woods, getting to see lots of cool woodworking, and a really good restaurant recommendation that we would have never found by ourselves. We had a great time and hope to be able to come back.
The house of Galen and John is located by a nice creek in the woods. The room and the bathroom are conveniently located on the main floor, while the hosts stay in the upper floors, allowing us some privacy. The room is not large, but it was nice and clean. The bed and bathroom were convenient. We enjoyed staying there, and especially the hot tub. Also, they offer massaging, which we did not try. The house is beautiful with many art objects.Galen and John are lovely people and we enjoyed their company.
The wifi was good and reliable. Galen and John gave us very good advices about what to see in Vermont. They provided us with full breakfasts and allowed us to use their kitchen, including their fridge.
We highly recommend on staying with them.
If you are looking for an inspiring retreat with warm, inviting hosts this is the place to go. I had a great time every second I spent with Galen and John and their beautiful dog Luna. Their place is full of life and I wish I could've stayed longer! My favorite part.. well it's hard to choose. I'd have to say just the overall presentation of their space (Galen is a great cook) and both of their studios.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Galen and John (and I had one massage with each of them - both wonderful!) The house was beautiful, they were warm and welcoming; we enjoyed our two breakfasts with them (each one cooked for us once... lovely!), the dog Luna was friendly and loveable... and I had one hot tub session after a massage - bliss!
We hope to come back there again next year when we visit our son in the neighborhood of Middlesex.
