About This Listing
Cross the bridge and enter our little artsy, woodsy, heaven. Our eco-friendly, timberframe style home was designed by us, and is located along a winding brook on 17 wooded acres in central Vermont. We offer a double bed in a private, sun-filled, first-floor bedroom with separate bathroom. Though the property is on a quiet country road, it is just 15 minutes from the Vermont capital, Montpelier, and even closer to Waterbury, home of Ben and Jerry's and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. The Mad River Valley is an easy 20-minute drive, and Stowe Village is 30 minutes away. Opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, and fishing abound. There are hiking trails on the property, flower and vegetable gardens, and a babbling brook that is wonderfully soothing to fall asleep to. An on-site hot tub is available and is especially nice under the stars.
In addition to being artists, Galen and John are professional massage therapists, and can book you for a treatment for an additional fee.
Local bread , cheese, eggs, and cereals are usually on hand, and if the time allows, happy to whip up some eggs or French toast.! Good coffee is brewing early, help yourself!
We are down to earth types seeking same. We want guests to feel welcome and relaxed here, and expect people to be respectful and not overly rowdy. No smoking inside, please. We have one dog, Luna, she's fairly old and loves people, but not other dogs so much.
Please give us at least 24 hours advanced notice of your reservation request, so that we will be more likely able to accommodate you.
Galen and John were kind, generous, and hospitable. They have a lovely, bright home, which provided a great mid-winter getaway--an opportunity to enjoy, and not be inconvenienced by, the snow. We hope to return in the summer to enjoy the region--and the company--again.
Galen and John are totally great people and are great hosts. they were responsive and made us comfortable in their home. Great location to hit up northern Central Vermont/southern Northern Vermont. The room was exactly as advertised, clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. The house is groovy and on a cool piece of property which they even let me explore. John whipped up some awesome breakfasts for us and encouraged us to use his outdoor hot tub, which even at 11 degrees F outside was not something to pass up. Amazing how that works. Their wifi actually works; we were able to stream Netflix at night. John, a massage therapist, even worked on my fiancé the morning after our xcountry ski day, and she said he was outstanding. I would definitely recommend Galen and John's AirBnB experience. Good times and thank you to them!
So glad I have the opportunity to elaborate! Daniel and Marina were positively delightful. They were everything you would want in a houseguest: friendly, warm, quiet, and considerate. The are fun people, and nice to hang out with over coffee. We hope to see them again!
We had a great experience staying with Galen and John. The house is beautiful and whimsically decorated- you will find it hard not to be inspired. Location was convenient to the highway and very easy to get to Montpelier and Waterbury. Hot tub was wonderful under the stars. Was a bit icy in late December- we brought some over-the-shoe ice spikes and were fine. It's quiet... Best night of sleep I have had in ages.
The house and the room was very nice and comfortable. It is located in a pretty wooded rural area. Galen and John made our stay with them very pleasant, always there for us, for a chat or discussion.
Galen made an awesome breakfast. Thank you so much!
The place is very conveniently located between Montpelier and Stowe in VT.
Excellent visit; nice location convenient to Stowe area. Quiet with comfortable room and private bathroom. House is unique and comfortable. Breakfast was good and timed at our convenience. Would definitely go back.
We had an amazing experience at Galen and John's amazing art house! Truly one of a kind, every room is unique and decorated in so many fabulous ways. Be sure to check out Galen's amazing loft studio workspace too.
They were very welcoming hosts, very friendly, and helped make our stay in Vermont a truly memorable journey. We had arrived late on our first night, and they stayed up to help us get settled. Fresh coffee was made for us each morning, and John even make us French toast with real Vermont maple syrup for breakfast on one day!
The room was just the right size with lots of natural light. The bathroom was very spacious and clean as well. They provided toiletries and all the towels we needed.
Our only disappointment is that we had so many plans and places to visit in the area that we didn't get to spend that much time enjoying the house. Luna is an adorable dog, by the way!
We'll have to come back one day, just to try out the hot tub! Thanks so much!
Charming, secluded property which is conveniently located. Artistically decorated, clean, quiet; comfortable mattress. Galen was a very welcoming host, filled with excellent tips on places to eat. Fell asleep after a great soak in the hot tub under the stars to the sound of the running brook. Excellent coffee and homemade granola in the morning. Looking forward to the VT road trip! And would absolutely stay at this little gem again!
About the Host, Galen
My husband, John, and I are artists and massage therapists. He's a New Yorker, I'm a New Englander, and we are both Vermont lovers. John designed our house and we both helped build it six years ago. We would love to provide a cozy, mellow, artsy home base for anyone visiting central Vermont.
