The space

Cross the bridge and enter our little artsy, woodsy, heaven. Our eco-friendly, timberframe style home was designed by us, and is located along a winding brook on 17 wooded acres in central Vermont. We offer a double bed in a private, sun-filled, first-floor bedroom with separate bathroom. Though the property is on a quiet country road, it is just 15 minutes from the Vermont capital, Montpelier, and even closer to Waterbury, home of Ben and Jerry's and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. The Mad River Valley is an easy 20-minute drive, and Stowe Village is 30 minutes away. Opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, and fishing abound. There are hiking trails on the property, flower and vegetable gardens, and a babbling brook that is wonderfully soothing to fall asleep to. An on-site hot tub is available and is especially nice under the stars.
In addition to being artists, Galen and John are professional massage therapists, and can book you for a treatment for an additional fee.
Local bread , cheese, eggs, and cereals are usually on hand, and if the time allows, happy to whip up some eggs or French toast.! Good coffee is brewing early, help yourself!

This home is exactly as pictured! It's incredibly secluded but still close to lots of central locations! We loved being able to visit different areas like Burlington, Waterbury, and Montpelier without a terribly long drive. Galen and John were both incredibly sweet and Viggo the dog was extremely calm and gentle. I would stay here every time I visit Vermont!

This place is so unique because everything was designed and made by them! Our host was great at communicating, was very prepared and had clean home. We felt like we had her own space and their dog was very friendly. The hosts were kind to our own dog as well and even gave her a treat. We were greeted in the morning with the offer of coffee and even homemade scones. Even though it rained, Galen offered to open up the hot tub. It was so serene here and the place really is a sight to see coming down the road!

What a great escape! Very quiet, just enough seclusion and magical during the snowy season. We were able to slip into snow shoes that the host provided and explore a few of their acres. The home was warm and cozy at all times. We shared a sweet breakfast and opted for deep tissue massages in John and Galen's professional studio space. Everything was wonderful.

Galen + John were wonderful hosts! Their home is quaint, artistic and cozy! They set up the hot tub for us and even had robes laid out. In the morning there was juice and homemade granola to top it all off. Wonderful weekend getaway!

Galen and John are wonderful people, and their home and its location are perfect. The room is incredibly cozy and comfortable, the bathroom brand new, and the quiet of being in the woods makes for an amazingly good sleep. The house itself is full of beautiful art--some of it Galen and John's--and the hosts do everything they possibly can to welcome you warmly and keep you comfortable during your stay. Also, their dog is awesome. :) Couldn't have been happier to stay in their lovely home!

Galen and John were incredibly welcoming. They offered breakfast at every turn, were accommodating to our pup and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The new sliding door between the bedroom and private bath made it feel as if we were in a separate apartment. It's a great spot and we will most certainly stay here again. Highly recommend.

Galen User ProfileGalen is a superhost.

My husband, John, and I are artists and massage therapists. He's a New Yorker, I'm a New Englander, and we are both Vermont lovers. John designed our house and we both helped build it in 2007. We would love to provide a cozy, mellow, artsy home base for anyone visiting central Vermont.
