Villa Cilinaya is located on the Northen end of Ubud, the most famous artist village in Bali. Ubud is nearby the ancient Ubud Market and Tagalalang Rice Terraces. We offer unique accommodations in the valley; a very comfortable, serene environment. We have hot and cold water, a touch of unique art and design, free wi-fi, and a terrace with a view of the rice fields.
Ubud offers a range of outdoor activities. Its rivers, valleys, rice fields and hills provide a stimulating landscape for the adventurous tourist. Tour operators offer rafting, cycling, trekking, bird watching, elephant rides, kayaking, and many other activities. Rafting provides an especially excellent opportunity to check out the natural scenery and wildlife of Ubud.
Ubud tourism focuses on culture, yoga, and nature. In contrast to the main tourist area in southern Bali, the Ubud area has forests, rivers, cooler temperatures and less congestion.
Ubud is an ideal place to walk around, especially if you check out the small streets and alleys on the side of every road. They lead you to amazing places such as rice fields, river valleys, temples and Balinese living court yards.
We can provide airport transportation, as well as motorbikes or a driver while you stay here
My wife and I recently stayed at Villa Cilinaya for nearly a week while celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary in Bali. What a great stay! The location was perfect for us – about a twenty minute walk from the main area of Ubud, so everything was close by but we were away from the hustle and bustle. The guesthouse features a fantastic covered balcony (that’s an understatement) with a full kitchen and a gorgeous view of the rainforest with rice fields in the distance. Made, the owner, and his wife, Trisna, along with their staff ensured that our every need was met during our stay. Made took time to visit with us, Trisna prepared delicious made-to-order breakfasts for us each morning (definitely try the banana pancakes and the fried rice!), and Nyoman and Ketut drove us all over Ubud and beyond. Made arranged for us to experience a traditional Balinese dinner with dance performances the night before we left – such great food and so much fun! Villa Cilinaya provided services much like a hotel – daily room cleaning, restocking of drinks in the room, laundry services, and a snack and beverage area and boutique shop on site, but with the warmth, care and concern of a family. Nyoman was especially kind – he brought us fruit and other wonderful gifts in celebration of our anniversary and over the course of the week we became quite good friends. We would welcome the chance to stay at Villa Cilinaya on future trips to Ubud!
We had an absolutely incredible time at Villa Cilinaya.
First, the not-so-good because the list is shorter:
• Out of town. We're comfortable driving a motorbike so it was no issue but it's about an hour walk to get to Ubud proper. A taxi into town is $4-$6 (USD) so really no big deal.
• Hot water lasted about 5 minutes, afterwards it was just cool. I sincerely hope that this isn't an issue for you.
Now the good
• The staff were incredible. Made was great, but his staff made the stay for us. There were 3 guys especially -- always huge smiles, helpful with tourist stuff, did an impeccable job, and were cool to hang out with.
• Clean and super-comfortable. Cleaning every day ensured that it was spotless. Even our dirty dishes in the sink were cleaned. The bed and everything else was luxury.
• Quiet. Being outside of Ubud and tucked away in the back ensured that we only heard the sounds of nature and saw the jungle behind us.
• Kitchen. We love to cook and the kitchen was more than enough. We needed an extra knife to chop so asked Made -- and he brought one right up (the same with an electrical adapter).
• Strong reliable Internet. Very strong and, from what I gather, this is rare. Like, I hadn't watched a streaming YouTube video for months while being in Asia until Villa Cilinaya.
• TV + DVD player. At the grocery store you can buy movies for $1. We bought 5 the first day and watched them at night.
• Guidance. While we didn't use it because we like getting lost on our own, Made can hook you up with anything from tours to drivers to directions. His prices are the same that you would get if you booked yourself in town at a travel agency.
• Free breakfast. Order the night before what you want and when you want it and they bring it hot for you the next morning.
• Secure. There's a guard there all night. We felt 100% safe.
I'm sure that I missed a couple things but suffice to say, Villa Cilinaya was a great find. I've already recommended it to friends and recommend it to you as well.
Walking distance to Ubnb center. A spacious room served with a nice breakfast. Staff are very warm-hearted and helpful. It's enjoyable to stay there.
Awesome place with top quality furnishings and service. The breakfasts are of high quality and healthy ingredients. The place is very clean with a lot of attention to details. You would need a bike to get to ubud center, or it will take you perhaps 20-30min by walking. All in all a nice place to stay.
Villa Cilinaya and its host Pak Made were great! The villa was clean and had great amenities.
A lovely place tucked just a short walk away from the streets of Ubud and a short drive away from the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. The main street just outside has lots of traditional craft shops. Made & his wife weren't around in the day when we checked in but the receptionists were very welcoming and treated us to a refreshing glass of apple juice. Check-in was smooth & took about 10mins.
The whole place is almost like a mini hotel. Rooms were impeccable, with a large bathroom, mini vanity area and comfortable bed. Everything is very clean and in working order. Basic amenities such as soap (no shampoo), dental kit, body lotion were provided and replenished daily. The housekeeping is excellent and they even help to pack your things neatly. They also come by each night to place mosquito coils outside the room.
We booked 3 out of the 4 villas - 2 at the bottom level and 1 on the second level. There's a small sitting area and mini kitchen just outside the rooms. The view from the second level is pretty scenic. We were able to use the small but very pretty pool of the private 2-level villa to our right as it wasn't booked at that time.
We packed some food from Gianyar street market one night and sought Made's assistance to see if he had a microwave so that we could heat up the food. He didn't have one, but personally showed us around the mini-kitchen outside the villa. Pretty well-stocked for a simple meal, with a pan, plates, utensils, dish soap etc. It turned out to be one of the best meals we had :)
Made and his wife are lovely hosts. We didn't get to interact much with them as we were only there for 2 nights, but Made is a wealth of information and a very learned man. They have 2 very friendly and lovely dogs as well, one of which roamed to our side one morning. But it's well-trained and didn't come near the villas until we went up to it to pat it.
Just 2 things to note: 1) The bathroom has glass doors with no curtains (the shower area inside has a short shower curtain), so just to take note if you are a non-couple sharing the room. It pretty much means if one needs the bathroom, the other may have to wait outside the villa. 2) On the first morning they served our breakfast later than we had requested for. I'm not sure if it was a miscommunication on our part or because they brought the breakfast back when they didn't see us and thought we were still sleeping, which is thoughtful of them. Not a big deal, but if you need breakfast served at an exact time, just be sure to let them know specifically.
All in all, it was a wonderful stay for all of us and we'd be back if we're ever in Ubud again :)

We had a great experience here. As soon as we arrived they organized and brought the scooter for us. Help us figure out our travel plans for Gili islands. Gave us fair prices. Brought us breakfast in the morning to the room. The room was the best we have stayed in Bali. Everything modern and clean, aircon, included TV with english tv station. Most comfortable bed in Bali! Quiet location away from road. Great to be somwhere peaceful in Ubud : )
Very close to center of Ubud and easy to navigate to town ,but you will want a scooter (as it is about 5-10 minutes drive to town).
They were helpful and kind staff, always available to answer questions and smiling.
Would totally return here! : )

The owner, Made, was communicative and pleasant to get along with.
Villas were comfortable, if a little thin-walled. Overall stay was fine.
