The converted garage has salvaged gym floor (fromPCC) that add color and light. There are 3 skylights so an abundance of natural light fill the place. There is a loft to sleep in and another small couch that pulls out as a single bed. There is a full kitchen but the only oven is a toaster oven. The bathroom is large and has a stackable washer dryer in it. There are chickens in the backyard so always fresh eggs to eat and I will leave basic necessities (such as coffee and cream) out there.
You'll enter through a set of carriage doors to my backyard. The entrance is separate but the backyard is shared with me and my 2 girls. There is a garden you're welcome to eat from and a nice sitting spot. The neighborhood is very nice and convenient. There is a Whole Foods and New Seasons within walking distance. I am between the Mississippi, Alberta and Williams neighborhoods. I'm 2 miles from downtown and the bus is very close. There are functioning bikes you can use although they are not in tip top shape.
The place is made from mostly salvaged material. There are many crazy neat light fixtures and a curved church window from a church that was demolished. There is lots of privacy but you might hear chickens or a far away train.
The Hen House and the backyard
Fun and quiet neighborhood but you can walk to a bar or a really good restaurant within minutes.
Please park on the street next to the church or side of the house to the south of mine.
Other Things to Note
Check-out at 11 and check-in at 2. I'm flexible unless its back to back bookings. Feel free to ask!
Smokers can smoke outside. I'll leave breakfast stuff in unit but you need to cook it! Be respectful and nice.
The Hen House was perfect for the two of us. Norah had fresh fruit and eggs, and a few other goodies ready for us. It was warm and cozy, and while we had total privacy, we felt she was available at short notice when we needed anything. We highly recommend and would definitely love to stay here again the next time we visit Portland. Finally, when we left an important item behind (all our chocolate loot), she went above and beyond to deliver it to us at the airport, prior to our departure.
It was a nice place to stay some days. My daughter enjoyed a lot in the little garden with the slide and the hens. And the eggs were great! Thank you Norah!
Nora was a great host, and tue yen house was an awesome place to stay. It easily fit three people, Norah was a very gracious and flexible with check in and out, and kindly keep plenty of coffe and feah eggs in the kitchen. Lots of great stuff within walking distance, and easy public transport access to downtown and the rest of the city. Couldn't have had a better expirience.
Had a great stay at Norah's place. Everything was easy and just as described. The house is unique but comfortable for two including two bikes inside. The neighborhood is quiet but close to restaurants, night life, bars and a couple of nearby zip cars.
Norah was very helpful during our stay.
I met family in Portland and stayed at Norah's cute place. It was cozy and warm. It was close to the city and there was plenty of places to walk to in her neighborhood. I didn't meet Norah because she was out of town but she got back to me very quickly via text when I needed something.
I have nothing but totally great things to say about this place. It's super cute, feels very unique, quiet, and it's in a great neighborhood. Norah was super responsive and very welcoming. This is definitely one of those Airbnb gems that makes you glad you opted not to stay in a hotel. Highly highly recommended.
This was such a sweet place, we loved the simplicity of the Hen House and it accommodated all of our needs for our stay! Everything was communicated throughly and Norah was very open if we needed anything. Will definitely come back again :)
