The Building and Neighborhood: This lovely, and highly desired neighborhood is very lively after the sun goes down. The East Village has been heavily built up over the last 5-10 years and located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Manhattan. It offers a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and a beautiful park. You can walk to Indian, Russian, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vegetarian and American restaurants within a 5 block radius. If you're too tired and beat up from touring NYC and don't feel like going anywhere, you can simply order in and have anything delivered to the room (usually until 11 pm or midnight). And these little privately owned restaurants are MUCH better than midtown/tourist-trap food chain places. There are at least three 24/hr places to eat within 1 block. This building is one of only a few in the neighborhood that has a doorman and an elevator. About 95% of the buildings in the area are walk-ups.
Your "home away from home" will provide the NYC experience not soon forgotten: about 50 restaurant/bars/cafe's within a 3 block radius and probably 500 within a 10 block radius. Enjoy a beautiful park (Tompkins Square)) about a 2 minute walk and an East River waterfront park about 4-5 streets/blocks to the east.
My apartment is a 2 minute walk to the subway (L Train) and a bus almost at the nearest corner.
For additional fees, I can act as chauffeur to pick-up/drop off @ airport (depending on my work schedule/arrival time), take you to attractions in NYC, on Long Island, Catskills, Hamptons, etc.. I can be your personal tour guide to all the tourist attractions, as well as to the cool, not-in-the-guide-books places for nightlife or dinner.
Cleaning charges: Included for up to 7 nights. Stays more than 7 nights may be charged $ 35 which you will pay directly to house cleaner who will come and clean apt and do laundry (towels + sheets) once per week (Mon or Tues) for those staying for longer periods.
Linens: Clean when you arrive.
Towels: Clean when you arrive.
Breakfast: Included in price, to help start your days. Coffee, Tea, Juice, Pastries or Bagels or Cereal, milk.

No smoking INSIDE. The entire building is non-smoking, so we must go down to the building entrance on street to smoke cigarettes.
Excessive cleaning fee is $ 35.00 USD, normal cleaning there is no charge.
Bruce and Cindy were very nice and welcoming. The room is comfortable, spacious and sunny. The neighborhood is great and the flat's location is very practical with the subway station and shops just around the corner.
Bruce gave us an upgrade to his Best Weston -- https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/27385 -- a fantastic East Village apartment with a balcony and access to a roof garden (higher than most of the surrounding buildings, so the views are phenomenal. I only wish we could have stayed longer!
We had a very pleasant stay at Bruce’s. Bruce and Cindy were very kind leaving us our space and privacy, we felt like we were in our own apartment! The location is really nice, in a quiet but yet alive neighborhood. The only negative point was the lack of Wi-Fi (temporary broken) and TV… I wish they would have told me before. But overall I definitely recommend West Inn 3.
Bruce is a great host, as others have said. In advance of our trip he provided all the arrival details as well as useful travel tips and apps. He also let us keep luggage in the apartment after check-out-time on our day of departure.
The West End 3 is exactly as advertised: one smallish room with access to a shared bathroom. It's pretty basic, but does have TV and a window into the courtyard. This particular room is on the basement level.
Everything was clean, and Bruce provides basic breakfast supplies in a little fridge in the entry hall, which also has a toaster oven and microwave. The room itself has a table with coffeemaker and coffee supplies.
We went up to the roof once which does boast incredible views and would be a nice spot to come with a glass of wine to watch the sunset.
The neighborhood is interesting, kind of like the West Village used to be before it got gentrified. Plenty of restaurant options and virtually all reasonably priced.
If you are going to be out and about most of the day, and just need a place to sleep, this room can't be beat for the price. If you want more of a residential feel, or a place to relax during the day, pick an apartment that has a living room. But expect to pay more!
Bruce was the absolute best - he went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was comfortable. He is simply one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, and he was very accommodating anytime I needed to call with a question. He also left the end of the last Rangers game of the season just to make sure I got in okay. (After you get to know Bruce, you'll understand that that means SERIOUS commitment to his guests :)). The room was cozy, clean, and comfortable for two and in a great spot in the East Village, and the view from the top of his building was spectacular. We're very thankful for Bruce's hospitality and now know where to stay again the next time we're in New York.

Update February 2014 - After 3 great years of success renting out rooms in my apartment, I now have another apartment for my painting studio / office to rent when I'm not working on a project, and I also take care of renting out my friend's apartment here in the East Village. Rather than looking through all my listings and confusing yourself, I suggest just shooting me a message and let me know your dates, the make up of your party (singles/couples/kids/grand peeps, sorry no pets) and any special needs you may desire. Take a look at my reviews and well, you'll get the picture!! I'll be delighted to add you to my wonderful guest list now topping 39 different countries!
As you'll see my original profile info below, I'm quite happy to say the last 3 years have been wonderful. I've met so many great people, both here and on my travels. Having me as your host, will certainly make your life easier here in the Big Apple. Pleasure, business or both I'm happy to share my vast NYC knowledge with you.
June 1, 2010: As a long time resident of NY, I've been living in NYC for the past 5 years, but grew up in the suburbs about 30 miles east on Long Island. Currently, I'm working as an Interior designer / General Contractor with an emphasis on performing the finish work myself and crew(s).
After traveling all around the U.S.A. for a Sales job for a few years after graduating college, I've learned a ton about the hospitality business, traveling in general and have how to treat people by doing my very best to surpass expectations. I provide excellent customer service, clean rooms in a great neighborhood, all in a beautiful apartment in the best city in the world, New York City!
