The Space

This is a comfortable Riad/Home situated in the Medina of Marrakech close to absolutely everything and easy to reach from the airport.
Room Sinbad is a cool haven from the bustle of the souks (markets) and has a large tadelik bath with hand held shower and traditional bower windows overlooking the central courtyard.
Each room faces into the Riad so you are assured of peace and quiet. You hear only the calls to prayer and birds singing.

Breakfast is available on request.
There is a well equipped kitchen with stove and oven where meals can be prepared for you by arrangement with the houselady and a comfortable living room and a dining room with table and chairs for 6 people. There is also a fabulous rooftop terrace with high walls to ensure privacy and raised area offering views over the rooftops of the Medina. Relax there after a long day sightseeing and shopping, enjoying the cool Marrakech evening breezes. There is also a laundry with washing machine that can be used for a small fee. There is a 15 euro final cleaning fee payable on arrival.

  • Wow! Absolutely gorgeous. This was the best way to end long exhausting days exploring the medina, so relaxing and calm. I would definitely recommend Leah's riad for anyone looking for the perfect place to stay in Marrakech.

  • We had a wonderful stay at the Riad in May. The entire team of this family run riad - Leah, Alexandre, Dilla and Rachida - were incredibly helpful, prompt, responsive, polite and kind - a big thank you to Dilla and Rachida for their patience with our not so great French! The riad's taxi service (Yassine) was great and definitely recommended if arriving late at night! Being personally welcomed by Yassine and Dilla and guided the whole way to the riad late at night was a lovely friendly touch! Rachida and Dilla were extremely accommodating with our requests and were happy to let us leave our luggage at the riad after we had checked out. They even arranged and booked the taxi both to and from the airport and walked us from door to door! The location is brilliant - near enough to the hustle and bustle, but also extremely peaceful! Within walking distance of everything but with a more authentic Moroccan experience!

We had booked and specifically requested the Sinbad room and despite conversations and confirmations with Alex and Dilla, we were put in what looked very much like the Aladdin room - bathroom behind the bed, separated by a black stone/marble wall, shower instead of a bath etc, which was a shame, although I believe this was more an error or miscommunication than anything untoward! That said, the room we did stay in was lovely, cool, calm and extremely clean and we were very happy with it.

We loved the tea on the terrace in the evening, particularly after a long day's walk around the city and souks - definitely a holiday highlight. Also, Dilla makes the best mint tea in the city - if not the world!

We really enjoyed our stay at the riad - everyone was so welcoming and hospitable and helpful, we could not recommend it more (email hidden) to stay, so friendly and peaceful. Thank you for a wonderful visit - we hope to come back again soon!

    - Liam and Kathryn

  • The place is quite clean and has a nice decor. The rooftop terrace is definitely a highlight. It was in a good location. The host tries to give good directions to get to the place. They tried to arrange drivers to pick us up, but failed to meet us at the airport. It ended up being a huge confusion. The hosts were never in but there was a night guard who spoke very little English, he tries his best to help though. Oh and the give us fresh roses. Their soap smelled heavenly.

The room was connected to the bathroom without doors so the whole room smelled damp after use. They charge cleaning fee and for wash machine use. The fee was not clear and caused some confusion.

  • We had a fantastic time at Riad Larouss! Yohann looked after us brilliantly! Our room was very clean and we really couldnt complain about anything during our stay. The Rhiad was very nice and has a wonderful terrace where we spent a lot of time in-between going out and exploring the wonderful city of Marrakech.
Yohan was extremely helpful and gave us great advice on where to go and what to do during our stay. We would definitely recommend anyone to stay here and would come back in a heartbeat! Thank you!

  • We had a lovely stay in the Riad (that was a bit confusing: the name and owner changed, so Leah sent us a mail that Alexandre would contact us, which he did, but he only emailed us, the actual hosts of the Riad were the adorable Rachida and Abdul) We arrived later than expected and Rachida welcomed us very friendly with a cup of tea.
You can have breakfast but we thought it wasn't worth the price (€4 per person, but you only get 1 Moroccan pancake with juice and coffee)
The room we got was perfect, but It wasnt the one on the pictures.
We would recommend this place: It is quiet, peaceful and just beautiful and staff is very friendly and willing to help (only French speaking)

    Response from Leah:

Alexandre is the new owner of the Riad and he lives in France. Rachida and Abdul are currently the hosts in his absence. I was unaware that you did not get the room you requested!! This is highly unusual as we have never had such a situation at the riad. I lived there up until February of 2014 and guests always had the room they booked!! I have been informed that as a result of your comments on the breakfast the breakfasts have been revised and vastly improved!! I thank you for your feedback and sincerely hope you come to stay again!!

  • Leah's place was wonderful, we had a great time there. Both Dila and Rachida were friendly, helpful, and very, very kind. They offered us tea and refreshments, maps and city guides, and were attentive to any requirements. The room was beautiful, nicely decorated, and very clean. And the terrace on the top, where breakfast is served, was great: lots of flowers and the sound of water below… excellent! Further, the location is very convenient, a few minutes on foot from the zouks and the market streets, and very easy to find with the instructions they (email hidden), we'll surely come back.

About
I'm Leah originally from Australia I lived for 14 years in Florence, Italy where I still have active contacts. For the past year I have lived in Marrakech, (email hidden) pulsating in exotic sounds and sites. I love living here; the people, the food, the landscape, the religion, the architecture and the music... Travel expands our life experience, paradoxically encountering people and places out of our daily routines and comfort zones increases understanding of ourselves and those close to us...
