Within walking distance to all downtown amenities, the street-level condo is ideally located for those looking to take full advantage of a vibrant downtown Memphis right outside the front door.
Nicknamed "My Memphis Mojo," the condo was featured as one of three Best of Memphis vacation home rentals on the national TV-show Sweet Retreats on the Live Well Network. An easy internet search should lead you to the Memphis episode.
Decorated with a Latin and southern charm, the 2-story, 2-bedroom, 1.5-bath condo boasts a warm homey vibe. While you enjoy your complimentary bottle of wine in the living room, watch trolleys and horse-drawn carriages cruise along the pedestrian-only Main Street Mall just outside the condo's floor-to-ceiling windows. The condo's street-level front-door entrance opens directly onto downtown's beautiful Main Street Mall.
The master bedroom is located on the main floor with a comfortable queen-size bed and two spacious closets. The bedroom is connected directly to a full bathroom with a huge walk-in shower and oversize tub (the bathroom has a hall entrance too).
A stairwell from the main living room leads guests into a downstairs bedroom that features its own private living area, all of which takes up the entirety of the bottom floor. The downstairs bedroom is furnished with comfortable full and twin size beds; a chaise lounge couch, love seat and reading chair; a chest of drawers; a hanging rack; and library. In addition to the full size bathroom, guests will have access to a half bathroom also located on the main floor.
The condo includes fresh towels and linens as well as shower gel and shampoo. Bath robes are also provided to downstairs guests.
The condo also boasts a fully-equipped modern kitchen with a marble-top bar overlooking the living room and the Main Street Mall.
My home is ideal for two couples, a family of 5 or less, or a group of friends.
The street-level front-door entrance opens directly onto downtown's pedestrian mall on Main Street. The condo's back-door entrance connects directly to a secure public parking garage, which charges reasonable rates: $10 daily. Compared to most downtown hotels which charge up to $40 for overnight parking, this is a bargain. I can also offer a garage parking card with in-and-out privileges plus overnight security access for $10 daily--just ask me. There's also free street parking nearby on weekends from 6pm Friday night until 8am Monday morning; and weekdays from 6pm until 8am the following morning; otherwise, it's metered parking.
Interaction with Guests
Most of the time, I will be checking you in personally upon your arrival to show you around the condo and to make sure you have everything you need. I will also make recommendations for places to eat and drink, especially the cooler spots favored by locals. Throughout your stay, I will be available via cell to answer any questions that you may have. Best of all, complimentary tea and coffee will be provided as well as some other treats.
The condo is centrally located along the pedestrian-only Main Street Mall, which is the prettiest (and safest) stretch of downtown, amid restaurant row, and close to all of the hot spots. Beale Street, the Orpheum and the Mississippi River are a 3-block walk away. Fedex Forum and museums, nearby. Peabody Hotel and Autozone Park, one block.
Buses, trolleys, horse-drawn carriages, and taxis pass by the condo continually.
Other Things to Note
Weekend reservations require a 3-night minimum, unless it's a last-minute reservation or there are only 2 nights available on the calendar for that particular weekend.
Higher rates may apply for special events and holidays.
I'm flexible on bookings and will do my best to work with you and accommodate your needs.
The number rule is to enjoy your stay at my condo, which is nicknamed My Memphis Mojo! I take great pride in providing my guests with a special place to call home during their visit to Memphis. I also get much satisfaction meeting the needs of guests, recommending my favorite local spots and knowing that my condo will add to the enjoyment of their visit.
Of course, my guests need to do their part as well; so there are some house rules:
During your stay, please respect my home, which is strictly for registered guests ONLY -- i.e. guests aren't allowed to invite other guests over. Also note that this is not a generic property rental. It's furnished with very sentimental and irreplaceable objects, furniture and collectibles of mine, which is also what makes my condo a very special and homey place, as many guests have commented.
Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is 11am. Most of the time, I greet and check in my guests in personally to provide you with the keys upon your arrival; walk you through the condo; and provide my local recommendations. Upon check-out, please leave the keys in the basket, just inside the condo next to the front door (the front door will lock automatically behind you).
Security deposit: A refundable security deposit of $300 is required. This deposit is not applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within a week after check-out, provided the following provisions are met: (1) no damage is done to the unit or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear; (2) no charges are incurred due to contraband, pets, lost keys or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay; and (3) no violations to the rental agreement have been made, such as the NO party/get-together/event rule.
Smoking is not allowed in the condo. Nor are pets allowed in my condo. Guests who bring a pet may be refused check-in, evicted from the property, and/or charged a penalty, to be deducted from the security deposit.
Guests acknowledge that the number of people declared to the owner/manager upon making the reservation will be the only guests staying at the condo for the entire duration of their stay. No additional guests will be allowed to stay at the condo without the owner/manager's prior written consent. Any additional guests found or declared to be staying at the condo will be charged $25 extra per night per guest, to be taken out of the damage/security deposit.
ABSOLUTELY NO parties or get-togethers of any kind are allowed in the condo. This is also not an event rental. If guests violate the no-party/get-together/event rule, such a violation will be grounds for immediate eviction and the loss of the entire security deposit. [I live a block away from the condo so I'll know if a party or event is being hosted.]
No excessive/loud music is allowed after 11pm on weekends and 10pm on weekdays. If neighbors complain at any time, then you agree to turn off the music.
Illegal substances are strictly prohibited and grounds for immediate eviction and the loss of the entire damage/security deposit.
Lost keys will incur a $100 charge per key lock. You will receive 3 sets of keys to the front door, with one set including keys to the the back door and the garage as well. If a front door key is lost, the charge is $100. If the 3-key set is lost, the total charge is $300, to be deducted from the deposit. Lost parking cards will also incur a $100 charge.
The renter shall save the condo owner/host free and harmless from any and all claims, actions, damages, expense, and liability whatsoever for injury (including death) to any person, or persons, arising directly or indirectly from the use or occupancy of this vacation rental or any part thereof by the renter, other guests, invitees and any others on said rental.

John was a great host. He gave us a thorough tour of the condo which is very nicely appointed and comfortable. We especially liked the cozy downstairs. Although the condo opens right onto the mall, both bedrooms are conducive to sleeping well. Location, location, location could not have been better. We were close to everything - Beale St, Peabody Hotel, National Civil Rights Museum. John provides a chalk board full of great recommendations for sites, sounds and bites.
The condo was one of the nicest places I have stayed. I instantly felt relaxed and at home. The location can not be beaten. John was very gracious and helpful and we felt very cared for. I strongly recommend this place to anyone who wants comfort, style and location.
If you want a top- notch experience then STAY here! John greeted us and gave us a tour of the place even though our flight arrived at 11:30pm. We felt safe and secure all three nights. The beds were comfortable, the living room was nicely decorated and we felt like we were in the heart of Memphis. We cannot wait to come back.

I can't imagine a more perfect place for a stay in Memphis. The house is great with lots of character. John met us upon arrival and spent 30 minutes showing us around and giving us great recommendations for what to do during our stay. Because of the excellent location of the house, most of those things were within walking distance which made getting around easy. I'd highly recommend John's place for anyone coming for a stay in Memphis.
Johns house is great. 3 good beds and nice communal area up top. John was really welcoming and hospitable staying up till 2 in the morning to let us in and make sure we arrived. He also dropped us back to the airport too! Perfect location to explore the centre of Memphis from.

I’ve made it my mission to be a great host to those of you visiting Memphis and staying at My Memphis Mojo. This condo has been a therapeutic, and ongoing, work of art for me. So I get a warm and fuzzy feeling when my guests appreciate the place's eclectic yet homey vibe.

With all this positive energy, I’ve since managed to get my filmmaker chops going. My short dance film Bookin’ mixes a Memphis street dance called Jookin’ with ballet to a soundtrack that mixes hip-hop beats and cello…all at a famous juke joint in downtown Memphis. It’s been a hit on the festival circuit in both the US and Europe as it spreads the good vibes of cultural fusion, which Memphis is historically known for.
Throughout, I’ve also been developing a downtown community arts center for my fellow emerging artists, right here in my funky home town of Memphis.
I have a special love for this city. And I now have a love for hosting guests at My Memphis Mojo, which I’ve stamped with my own sort of funky vibe.
