The Space

We love our home in the geographic center of San Francisco!

Walk to the nearby restaurants and shops in either Noe Valley (24th Street commercial area) or the Castro -- we are right between the two. Great public transportation: Two bus lines run nearby, and you can walk to either the Castro subway station or the 24th & Mission BART (regional railway) station.

The house itself is large and comfortable. The top floor opens onto an enormous private deck. It has two light-filled bedrooms, bathroom, dressing area, and a kitchenette with plenty of room to work or eat. We enjoy views of the city lights and San Francisco Bay from both the bedrooms: What a view to wake up to!

The main floor has a large living room with ornamental fireplace, formal dining room, large fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom, and two more bedrooms. Ornamented hardwood floors. A smaller deck at the back of the house looks over the garden.

The garden level includes another bedroom looking directly onto the garden, and a third bathroom.

We are especially proud of our beautiful gardens (front and back), which include flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, native San Francisco plants and a pond, and have been featured in tours organized by the Yerba Buena chapter of the California Native Plant Society.

The seating area in the garden -- beneath the apple tree, beside the pond -- is heaven on earth. Depending on the season, you can sit in the swinging chair and reach up to pluck an apple, or down for blackberries or blueberries. The water gurgling into the pond masks the city sounds, and looking up into the fruit trees you can enjoy the bird songs from our frequent winged visitors, including hummingbirds, robins, mockingbirds, finches, and sparrows: a surprising slice of nature, given we are in the center of the city.

  • A really good location and a house that had everything required for a great stay. Juliette communicated very well and was a pleasure to deal with.

  • We stayed at Juliette's house and it was great! She was very helpful and answered all my questions. We had 4 people stay total and had a blast. The location was perfect and the price was great to be in SF and close to the action. I would do it again for sure. The house has a lot of character. With the money you save from an impersonal and overpriced hotel you could enjoy several special dinners out, or go shopping and treat yourself. Juliette's is by far the smarter choice, and honestly I felt it had a more personal feel and truly San Franciscan charm.

  • The five bedroom house in San Francisco is a great place to stay and Juliette and family are great hosts. Don't miss going up to nearby twin peaks, and walking up to the higher peak, for an incredible view of the city (on a clear day). The neighborhood is very quiet and there is actually parking. (Don't forget to move your car on street cleaning days.) We highly recommend this airbnb for a chance to see what it is like to live in San Francisco.

  • Juliette is a gem, and is wonderful to work with! Her family was vacationing in Paris while we spent a week in their home, and she still kept communication open and was very responsive. She has such a pleasant and gracious personality! She even left local (email hidden), and added special things that she knew we would be interested in. Admittedly, there were a few hiccups with the house, but it was their first renting experience, and she made sure that we were compensated for the trouble, and in the end and made notes for her next rental.

The house is huge and in an amazing location in walking distance to so many great places. It's very near many transit routes that take you all across the city. We didn't use a car at all the entire time we were there, and my 50+ suburbanite mom even loved how close it was to everything. It falls smack in the middle of the Castro and Noe Valley, so whether you're into family stuff or a great time late at night, there are options in walking distance. The area felt very safe. I had no problem walking by myself or with my family. The people were very friendly, and were quick to tell you where the nearest Walgreen's was.

I would recommend staying here because I think the challenges we ran into will definitely be rectified next time, and because it's a great place with a lovely host family.
