What We Offer: The Layout of Our House
Our guest suite provides a private bedroom, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a family room exclusively for your own use. To enter and exit, you use the side door of the house, which opens to a patio surrounded by landscaping and the cul-de-sac. We live and work upstairs on the main floor, and we use the front door that leads to the adjoining street of our corner lot. A stairwell with a midway landing separates the two levels visually. We're usually available upstairs for information about Eugene or anything else you need, yet we fully respect your privacy. You have full privacy within your bedroom, and you also get the kitchenette, the bathroom and the family room exclusively for your own use.

We offer the lower level of our house exclusively for your own use, including your own private entrance. Our guest suite excludes a second bedroom on your floor, which we reserve for our daughter, a college sophomore who lives in the Bay Area (we don't book Airbnb guests during her visits). We reserve all other rooms on the lower floor for your own use, about 900 square feet altogether.
We're available to serve our guests 24/7 during their visit. We also spend as much or as little time with our guests as they prefer, at least as time allows (we also work long hours on our main business, which we operate from the upper level of our house.
We live in East Ridge Village, a quiet and beautifully landscaped neighborhood in the upper end of Laurel Hill Valley with custom houses built in 2005 or later (our house was built in 2006). We're at the very edge of the city limits, so we have all city amenities, yet our secluded little valley remains hidden from the rest of the city. We have two city parks within a couple of short blocks from our house, one that's landscaped with grass and trees, and the other remains natural open space filled with hiking trails. Tall Douglas Fir trees surround our quaint valley, so it feels very cozy. The interstate highway is only a half mile away for quick access to everything Eugene and Oregon, yet its on the other side of the hill, so the neighborhood remains quiet and peaceful.

These two where great. I know we all look through reviews to find one we trust.
Well im here to say I felt right at home with this host. The space was clean and kept well. Fresh fruit on the counter and a clean fridge for food.
The restroom had nice towels and I may add great shampoo.
The host where so easy to talk to and very willing to give advice on where to go.
I tried out some very interesting coffee shops and shopped in the cute towns.
Thank you guys. We will be back very soon :)
Mark was a friendly and flexible host.
There space was super clean and they added nice touches like a bowl of fruit, quality teas and chocolates by the bed. I liked the added caring touches of fresh orchids too.
This a a great place to stay if you are looking for something something between a private space and while also feeling attached to a home.
One of the main reasons I typically use airbnb rather than hotels is that I find that many of the hosts at airbnb take better care of their "lodgings" than hotels. Additionally, the hosts are so much friendlier. Amy and Mark are no exception. Extremely nice, friendly and welcoming Amy and Mark are awesome hosts. We both have kids in college, so it was nice to share stories! The care taken to details are noticeable: fresh fruit, tea, coffee and even popcorn! (Didn't get the chance to eat the popcorn as it was an early night to bed from driving!) We had a very relaxing stay. Even the care taken for toiletries was appreciated. I am a soap critic and loved the choice of bath soap;). Amy & Mark's home is beautiful and in a very quiet neighborhood, still close to everything Eugene. We will be back in June! Thanks Mark and Amy!
Amy and Mark were welcoming and helpful hosts. They responded to my booking within a very short time frame and gave helpful and detailed directions to their home for the night of my drive down from Seattle. Their downstairs suite is spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable and was a great place to stay during my trip to Eugene. I appreciated the comfortable bed, fresh sheets, the walk-in closet and dresser to put away my things, and the bowl of fresh fruit, popcorn, tea and coffee that were laid out. Towels and bathroom items were at the ready as well.
I had a fully planned weekend and didn't get to spend too much time in the suite but they were understanding of my plans. I couldn't be more pleased to recommend them and their suite to others, I just hope I can still get a booking. :)
Highly recommend both Amy and Mark and the suite!
Amy and Mark were very friendly, helpful hosts, and their guest suite was comfortable, spacious and perfectly clean. We stayed for nearly 6 weeks after booking two consecutive reservations, so we prepared most meals in our lovely suite. Many times I mentioned something that I didn’t bring, and Amy or Mark provided it right away, including things they already had upstairs, such as a measuring cup, an extra big pot, and a food scale, as well as several things they didn’t have, such as a new toaster oven and extra bedding. They also helped us countless times, from washing our clothes to installing tire chains on our rental car after a snow storm arrived with record low temperatures. Amy and Mark also offered a really nice blend of friendship and privacy, which my daughter, mother and I appreciated. Altogether, we enjoyed both lovely accommodations and wonderful hosts – just what Airbnb should offer to travelers. We look forward to visiting Amy and Mark again sometime.
Amy and Mark were great and the space was fabulous. Couch was amazingly comfortable and nice sized tv. The separate entrance was great, felt very independent staying there.
I really appreciated the small touches. Chocolates on the end table, menus from locals restaurants, tour books, water bottles in the fridge, a coffee / tea set up with biscotti and spa style toiletries. One thing to note, the bed was a full size so if you're traveling with a significant other, be ready to snuggle if you normally sleep in a larger bed.
We had a lovely time staying in Mark and Amy's basement apartment. Everything was clean and accessible for a fantastic weekend. It's a full suite including big-screen TV, cable, refrigerator, full bathroom, etc. It's a short drive to campus and downtown Eugene and the hosts have great suggestions for food and activities in the area. Will definitely stay again for our next trip to Eugene!
Some Airbnb members might wonder whether the term "basement” means our guest suite lies below ground or lacks windows. To clarify, you enter the suite from a patio that lies about 5 feet higher than the street level, and the suite features 6 windows, including 3 floor-to-ceiling windows in the family room and 2 full-sized windows in the bedroom. Some visitors might refer to our guest suite as a basement because the main level of our hillside home lies upstairs. Unlike a classic basement, though, the suite downstairs does not sit below ground, so guests enjoy much sunlight throughout . . . .
Amy and Mark were great hosts, friendly and helpful.
There home is in a nice area very close to the university.
Our stay with them was very brief but pleasant.
