What We Offer: The Layout of Our House
Our guest suite provides a private bedroom, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a family room exclusively for your own use. To enter and exit, you use the side door of the house, which opens to a patio surrounded by landscaping and the cul-de-sac. We live and work upstairs on the main floor, and we use the front door that leads to the adjoining street of our corner lot. A stairwell with a midway landing separates the two levels visually. We're usually available upstairs for information about Eugene or anything else you need, yet we fully respect your privacy. You have full privacy within your bedroom, and you also get exclusive use of all other rooms within our guest suite.

Guest Access

We offer the lower level of our house exclusively for your own use, including your own private entrance. Our guest suite excludes a second bedroom on your floor, which we reserve for our daughter, a college sophomore who lives in the Bay Area (we don't book Airbnb guests during her visits). We reserve all other rooms on the lower floor for your own use, about 900 square feet altogether.

Interaction with Guests

We're available to serve our guests 24/7 during their visit. We also spend as much or as little time with our guests as they prefer, at least as time allows (we also work long hours on our main business, which we operate from the upper level of our house.

The Neighborhood

We live in East Ridge Village, a quiet and beautifully landscaped neighborhood in the upper end of Laurel Hill Valley with custom houses built in 2005 or later (our house was built in 2006). We're at the very edge of the city limits, so we have all city amenities, yet our secluded little valley remains hidden from the rest of the city. We have two city parks within a couple of short blocks from our house, one that's landscaped with grass and trees, and the other remains natural open space filled with hiking trails. Tall Douglas Fir trees surround our quaint valley, so it feels very cozy. The interstate highway is only a half mile away for quick access to everything Eugene and Oregon, yet its on the other side of the hill, so the neighborhood remains quiet and peaceful.

A 5-minute drive to the 12,000-seat Matt Knight Arena and performance venue, the 10,000-seat Hayward track stadium, the UO Natural History Museum, the Schnitzer Art Museum, and the 12-acre Rhododendrun Garden of Hendricks Park. Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • I stayed at Mark and Amy's for 5 nights while attending an art class in Springfield. The suite is exactly as described...very new, spacious, clean and having the private entrance is a plus. I like watching a little TV (movie) in the evenings so I enjoyed the expanded cable. Their home is in a newer subdivision that is very quiet and I always felt totally safe. It's also very easy to find from the freeway and a short hop to almost every location in the area. Mark was out of town during my stay, but it was fun chatting with this if you can, you won't be sorry.

  • Wonderful stay at Amy and Mark's beautiful home. My boyfriend and I enjoyed all the comforts of home while enjoying time away from the kids. Amy and Mark are extremely welcoming and easy to talk to. Would definitely use their home on subsequent visits to the city and recommend anyone else visiting from out of town to do the same!

  • This was a very cute and comfortable place to stay. I had the whole bottom floor to myself with a private entrance. Amy and her husband were very accommodating and gave me great tips for exploring Eugene.

  • Absolutely WONDERFUL experience. This was our first time using airbnb, so we were hesitant at first, but Mark and Amy were warm, welcoming and made us feel right at home. They have a beautiful home (the pictures don't do it justice) and the space you are given is significantly bigger than a typical hotel room and very comfortable. Great bed, large room, full kitchen and living room with a big screen TV, large master bathroom and all VERY CLEAN. I am a clean freak and I was very impressed with just how clean and comfortable everything was. Not only that, but they went the extra step- they left towels, hair dryers, shampoo, conditioner, soaps (all new), chocolates, maps, french press coffee, loose-leaf tea, fresh fruit, popcorn and bottled water in the fridge. They were very pleasant people from start to finish- were very helpful with questions we had and allowed us our space. Honestly, I wish we had more reasons to visit Eugene! I can only hope that our future experiences with other hosts on airbnb are this good.

  • These two where great. I know we all look through reviews to find one we trust.

Well im here to say I felt right at home with this host. The space was clean and kept well. Fresh fruit on the counter and a clean fridge for food.

The restroom had nice towels and I may add great shampoo.

The host where so easy to talk to and very willing to give advice on where to go.

I tried out some very interesting coffee shops and shopped in the cute towns.

Thank you guys. We will be back very soon :)

  • Mark was a friendly and flexible host.
There space was super clean and they added nice touches like a bowl of fruit, quality teas and chocolates by the bed. I liked the added caring touches of fresh orchids too.
This a a great place to stay if you are looking for something something between a private space and while also feeling attached to a home.

  • One of the main reasons I typically use airbnb rather than hotels is that I find that many of the hosts at airbnb take better care of their "lodgings" than hotels. Additionally, the hosts are so much friendlier. Amy and Mark are no exception. Extremely nice, friendly and welcoming Amy and Mark are awesome hosts. We both have kids in college, so it was nice to share stories! The care taken to details are noticeable: fresh fruit, tea, coffee and even popcorn! (Didn't get the chance to eat the popcorn as it was an early night to bed from driving!) We had a very relaxing stay. Even the care taken for toiletries was appreciated. I am a soap critic and loved the choice of bath soap;). Amy & Mark's home is beautiful and in a very quiet neighborhood, still close to everything Eugene. We will be back in June! Thanks Mark and Amy!

  • Amy and Mark were welcoming and helpful hosts. They responded to my booking within a very short time frame and gave helpful and detailed directions to their home for the night of my drive down from Seattle. Their downstairs suite is spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable and was a great place to stay during my trip to Eugene. I appreciated the comfortable bed, fresh sheets, the walk-in closet and dresser to put away my things, and the bowl of fresh fruit, popcorn, tea and coffee that were laid out. Towels and bathroom items were at the ready as well.

I had a fully planned weekend and didn't get to spend too much time in the suite but they were understanding of my plans. I couldn't be more pleased to recommend them and their suite to others, I just hope I can still get a booking. :)

Highly recommend both Amy and Mark and the suite!

  • Amy and Mark were very friendly, helpful hosts, and their guest suite was comfortable, spacious and perfectly clean. We stayed for nearly 6 weeks after booking two consecutive reservations, so we prepared most meals in our lovely suite. Many times I mentioned something that I didn’t bring, and Amy or Mark provided it right away, including things they already had upstairs, such as a measuring cup, an extra big pot, and a food scale, as well as several things they didn’t have, such as a new toaster oven and extra bedding. They also helped us countless times, from washing our clothes to installing tire chains on our rental car after a snow storm arrived with record low temperatures. Amy and Mark also offered a really nice blend of friendship and privacy, which my daughter, mother and I appreciated. Altogether, we enjoyed both lovely accommodations and wonderful hosts – just what Airbnb should offer to travelers. We look forward to visiting Amy and Mark again sometime.

  • Amy and Mark were great and the space was fabulous. Couch was amazingly comfortable and nice sized tv. The separate entrance was great, felt very independent staying there.

I really appreciated the small touches. Chocolates on the end table, menus from locals restaurants, tour books, water bottles in the fridge, a coffee / tea set up with biscotti and spa style toiletries. One thing to note, the bed was a full size so if you're traveling with a significant other, be ready to snuggle if you normally sleep in a larger bed.

We operate a business from our home that helps small and medium-sized natural product makers from most states grow larger. We moved to Eugene from Silicon Valley 5 years ago to enjoy a more intimate university town. Our daughter, a college sophomore, returned to the Bay Area to study cognitive science. Amy plans to operate a charming B&B in the future, leveraging what she learned during her 29-year career, including 15 years in luxury hotel management and 14 years creating and managing natural product brands. Airbnb provides a small step towards Amy’s vision, so we’re excited about welcoming travelers into our home, offering our hospitality, and sharing what we love about Eugene. We'll get to know you as much or as little as you want - and as time permits . . . .
