About this listing
Enjoy an antique atmosphere in the heart of culture and art in downtown Seoul. Be our guest and make yourself at home. Make your travels in Korea more special than ever!
126 Mansion is a Guesthouse which is located in Palpan-dong(aka Samchung-dong), the centre of culture and art, in downtown Seoul.
Palpan-dong is just around the corner from Gyungbokgung, the first royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. This place has been at the very centre of the Capital city of Korea since the old days of the royal dynasty; in this area, eight Panseos(Ministers of the Joseon Dynasty) used to reside here hence where Palpan-dong(an eight-Panseos’ village) got its name.
Within a 3-minute walk from our Guesthouse, you can see a variety of galleries, shops and cafes in a busy street. Han-ok Maeul (Korea’s traditional house village) is within a 10-minute walk. It is about 5 to 30 minute walk to Seoul’s most famous historic sites such as Gyungbokgung, Changdukgung, and Deoksugung. Also you can get to Myung-dong, Dongdaemun and Namdaemun markets, and Gwanghwamun square.
Equally, we are proud of the picturesque surroundings of the 126 Mansion. Just beside our Guesthouse, there is a beautiful promenade of the stone wall of Gyungbokgung leading to Cheongwa-dae (the Blue House).
126 Mansion is a high-class Guesthouse providing comfortable, spacious living. Our guest house is situated with a nice view so that you can see Gyungbokgung and Cheongwadae. Guests can also expect excellent service in our relaxing dining room and experience a fine example of modern day living in a traditional space. We will welcome you with exclusive hospitality.

I must say that Hyunchung has been most helpful. She answered all my questions about my trip even though I only stayed at her place on my last 2 nights in Seoul. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to have the Korean breakfast but she made sure I had something to eat before I left early. She and her family were always warm and welcoming.
The room is cozy and the location of the BnB is convenient as I could walk to many of the attractions on my Seoul itinerary like Bukchon Hanok Village, Insadong, the palaces and Gwanghwamun Square. The walk to the nearest subway station is about 10 minutes but there are many trendy shops and cafes in the area to keep me occupied even late at night. I even spotted a K drama filming session one day.
The guest house and cafe is filled with many cute items that add a nice touch to the ambiance.
This was my first AirBnB experience and it was great! Hyunchung and her family were all very welcoming, kind, and helpful. They were very flexible and accommodating when I misunderstood something about availability and they made it work so that I could still stay at their listing. Although I did not see Hyunchung often during my stay because I was usually out somewhere, she was always excited to see me and ask what I'd been doing so far in Seoul. She and her sister even took me out to the Noryangin fish market on my list night and we enjoyed a fresh meal, which was an experience I would not have had otherwise. The location is close to a lot of culturally important areas of Seoul, including Insa-dong, and so I did not have to use the metro as often because I could walk to a lot of places. It is a bit of an uphill walk from the Anguk station, so be prepared for that if you have a lot of luggage. There are many shops and restaurants nearby in Samcheong-dong which is only a few minutes' walk away. I very much enjoyed my stay here and will choose it again when I return to Seoul in the future. Thank you for everything! PS - The home-cooked Korean breakfast is AMAZING, so make sure you go downstairs to get it!
I truly enjoyed my stay at hyunchung's BnB. Location is 100% perfect. Situated right next to the entrance to the Blue House (Korea's White House) so the security is given. Very close to everything, but cozy and quiet a hideaway away from the hustle/bustle of the main Samchung area. Loved the breakfast. Loved the friendly vibe. The two sisters were super friendly and helpful. I would def recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a special experience in Korea even down to a smallest little detail.
Hyunchung was fantastic. She was truly welcoming and I felt like I was staying at a friend's house. The B & B is located in a fantastic area- within walking distance of major art galleries, museums, a palace, and lots of great shopping. It was such a pleasure to stay here! Both the korean & western breakfast options were delicious!
Hyungchung, Sue and her mother were super nice. We were made to feel welcomed right from Day 1. They spoke English very well, and on our first night we just spent some time chatting to them about a lot of things, as though we were like family or very good friends.
The rooms was super comfortable, well heated (it was freezing Seoul at the time) and clean. The hot shower was perfect and they even supplied bath products. Their mum made breakfast every morning and it was well presented.
126 Mansion is also located right next to the main palace, so great for visitors and also just a walk, skip and a hop to cool shopping streets, coffee bars and loads of cafes. Super cute artsy district combined with tradition. Just a few blocks down is where you can see the hundreds of year old traditional homes.
Overall it was a very authentic home stay/bed and breakfast experience. Even their grumpy dog Shiru made it all the more charming!
Highly recommend this place and we will definitely come back to stay again.
It's been a wonderful experience at 126 mansion. The traditional Korean breakfast is great. The host is very friendly and give me very helpful suggestion about my travel plan. The room is clean and have a really unique setting. All in all, it is highly recommended
Located in the main streets of Samchungdong, it's easy to find out. The unique design of 126 Mansion just perfectly blend in the nature. We really enjoyed the time during 126 Masion, especially the traditional Korean breakfast. I am highly recommended all of my Friends and family to stay in here.

About the Host, Hyunchung
Hello, greetings from 126Mansion in Seoul.
My two sisters and I have all worked in the art industry; my older sister is a clothing designer, my younger sister likes to paint although she is not a professional painter; and interestingly some of her better paintings are on display in our house. She truly has many gifts, she is a barista and also cooks very well. She runs our coffee shop on the first floor. Finally, as for me, I have worked in the Korean film industry.
In 2009, on one fine autumn day, we found this house (126Mansion) in a wonderful area. As soon as seeing it, we fell in love with it. At the time, the location of our house had been empty for some time and was more like a ghost house. However, we could imagine just how lovely could be if we renovated it. Immediately we loved the neighborhood, it’s very historical and also very modern and safe, clean, and no large apartments, and of course lots of good places in within walking distance. This area is known as Samcheong - dong. We decided to make this house a home for travellers, opening up this house to and for people from all over the world.
Generally speaking, people who visit Seoul they think Seoul is kind of shoppers paradise and that’s all, and not really so historical, not so cultural, but it’s not true. If you would stay this area, you will be able to discover many amazing points of interest. I really hope people who visit Seoul experience the various sides of Seoul, and have a true traveler’s delight.
We have great passion for communicating with new people, especially who are curious about Seoul, and Korea. Upon your arrival here in our home we can recommend some really nice places, ones not really known as traditional tourists’ spots. That would be our pleasure. Please, don’t hesitate to talk to us.
Lastly, I want to introduce to you my mom. She is an older lady but even in this chapter of her life, still very passionate and healthy, and of course a great cook. Early in the morning she prepares a Korean breakfast for our guests like you. I am so proud of my mom and her food. If you would like to try Korean food, please don’t miss my mom’s food.
We are looking forward to meeting you, all of you wonderful travelers from all over the world.
