The Space

Enjoy an antique atmosphere in the heart of culture and art in downtown Seoul. Be our guest and make yourself at home. Make your travels in Korea more special than ever!

126 Mansion is a Guesthouse which is located in Palpan-dong(aka Samchung-dong), the centre of culture and art, in downtown Seoul.

Palpan-dong is just around the corner from Gyungbokgung, the first royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. This place has been at the very centre of the Capital city of Korea since the old days of the royal dynasty; in this area, eight Panseos(Ministers of the Joseon Dynasty) used to reside here hence where Palpan-dong(an eight-Panseos’ village) got its name.

Within a 3-minute walk from our Guesthouse, you can see a variety of galleries, shops and cafes in a busy street. Han-ok Maeul (Korea’s traditional house village) is within a 10-minute walk. It is about 5 to 30 minute walk to Seoul’s most famous historic sites such as Gyungbokgung, Changdukgung, and Deoksugung. Also you can get to Myung-dong, Dongdaemun and Namdaemun markets, and Gwanghwamun square.

Equally, we are proud of the picturesque surroundings of the 126 Mansion. Just beside our Guesthouse, there is a beautiful promenade of the stone wall of Gyungbokgung leading to Cheongwa-dae (the Blue House).

126 Mansion is a high-class Guesthouse providing comfortable, spacious living. Our guest house is situated with a nice view so that you can see Gyungbokgung and Cheongwadae. Guests can also expect excellent service in our relaxing dining room and experience a fine example of modern day living in a traditional space. We will welcome you with exclusive hospitality.

  • I stayed here for 3 days and I can't recommend it enough.
The BnB is in a great location, in short walking distance to Bukchon, Gyeunbokgung and Changdeukgung. The area is great for if you want to do sightseeing or if you just like strolling around Bukchon; there are lots of lovely little cafes and galleries to pop into.

However, what really stood out was Hyngchung and her family's hospitality. From her sister Su staying up to wait for me to arrive after my very late flight to her mother cooking delicious Korean breakfasts every morning, I couldn't have asked for anything more.

I felt very at home and had a great night out when Su invited me and another guest out with Hyunchung and another friend.

The room itself was simple but comfortable. It was clean and had everything I needed.

Would love to visit Seoul again and would definitely stay here again.

  • For my first time on airbnb this place wowed me. The staff were very helpful and friendly with all my questions and were a joy to be around. My room was cozy and warm despite the cold snow outside, thanks to the floor heating. The place has free wifi far faster then any internet we get in Australia!!!! The location is really close to many famous sites, not to mention Blue House. You will not go wrong staying here, food, fun and friends.

  • The room is in a convivial guesthouse/cafe. Soo is very helpful and friendly, even helping me find a taxi on a busy Friday afternoon and hosting a dinner for residents. There's an interesting blend of visitors. It's in a perfect location, close to Bukchon. And the Korean breakfast is highly recommended.
The only downside is the absence of window in the bedroom, which makes it a little stuffy, but you wouldn't want to spend much time there anyway.

  • This is the best guesthouse among the others two that we visit to Seoul for honeymoon. The host and staffs are very polite, pretty and nice. Besides, we have no problem on the communication due to the host manage to speak english well. Plus, they have provided a lot of informations to us when we facing any problem. (They really tried their best to help us even if they don't know, such as serve info from the map / internet. They even help us to make a reservation of nanda show to us) .

The environment is very peaceful and clean. You will not feel and danger if u walk on the silent street at 10/11 nite.

About the room, even it is small. But we feel comfortable and feel like home when the first time we step in. The toilet / washroom is definitely clean!

The guest house are full of memorable things at every corner. I couldn't stop my hand to take the pictures.

Well, Zoe and I like the guesthouse very much !
And we miss everyone if u very much! Especially Su, Tomomi ( Sorry if i spelled wrongly^^) & the doggy!!^^

Well, hope to meet all of u again.^^

  • I stayed at 126Mansion for three days and it wasn't nearly enough time.

If you decide to stay at this wonderful spot you won’t be disappointed. Hyunchung and her family were very accommodating and the traditional Korean breakfasts were delicious. The room is cosy, minimal and fairly well appointed.

In the cafe you'll find yourself hanging out with fashionable locals; who probably have been drawn to the area for it’s shops, food and galleries.

As a traveller the location couldn't be better for adventuring into some of the more interesting parts of Seoul. Bukchon, Insadong, Dongdaemun, Gwangjang markets, Namdaemun markets and Hondae to name a few.

Stay here! You won’t be disappointed.

  • We could not have asked for a better first experience with (website hidden). My husband and I almost settled for a 2-star hotel we found on another site, having given up on airbnb, but fortunately someone else cancelled and Hyunchung let us know we could use one of her rooms. The place was cozy and welcoming, the location cannot be beat (just walking around randomly our first day we already bumped into 2-3 places that we later found were among many "Places to Visit" lists -- such as Insadong and the Bukchon Hanok village), and breakfast (your choice of Western or Korean) was always satisfying. The best part, though, was the host family: Hyunchung and her family were extremely helpful, taught us a thing or two about Korean culture, and were very accommodating of our requests. We enjoyed our stay in Seoul so much that we started planning our second visit even before we left.

  • I enjoyed my stay here very much! It's in a very nice, artsy location and it's so nice to get away from the noise and crowd. The sisters and their mom were so nice and accomadating, the meals were great! AND they provide bike rentals! And they have a pretty cute dog...It's a wonderful place to stay I recommend it wholeheartedly

  • Hyunchung Lee's location is very central, vibrant with activity, and safe!

Easy walking distance, 15 minutes or less !!, to palaces, restaurants, markets, etc. Easy inexpensive circular that does a 6 mile loop around the area.

Hyunchung's mother cooks a delicious Korean breakfast Mon-Sat. Hyunchung, her sister, and her mother are very welcoming and do their utmost to make you feel right at home.

I appreciated how Hyunchung gave me great tips on the best times to hit the touristy spots to maximize my time.

Any question, wish or location that you wish to check out while your out and about, Hyunchung suggests you to write it in English and then she translates it into Korean. For example, I wanted to buy an electric water heater and a specific candy for my subsequent trip to Bali. After Hyunchung translated my wishes, I hopped onto the bus circular, got off at Lotte Mart (a Target-type Korean store), showed my questions to the sales clerks, and was quickly led to the right area and helped to make the right purchase.

Love the way Seoul taxis all have a mobile phone and GPS. I bought duty-free Korean Air bus tickets while still on the plane. The Korean air line bus is located right outside baggage. I took the bus to the Koreana hotel and then hailed a cab. I gave him Hyunchung's phone number and from there, it was a $5USD cab ride to her place.

    Awesome !!

  • Great location right next to the Kyeongbbokgong (national palace museum) and charming Samcheongdong area, where you can just roll out of bed and go for a morning run around the palace or an afternoon stroll in the great alleys filled with cafes, boutiques and galleries. I loved their thoughtfully prepared Korean breakfast to be enjoyed in a cozy cafe environment downstairs, Hyunchung seems like a really pleasant lady also. Room is small but clean & neat & equipped with all that you need, perfect for lone travellers!

  • It's such a lovely place! I'll want something similar for myself! :D Hyunchung and her sister were really friendly and they'll offer you tips to where you can buy the things you want in Seoul and that really really saved us a lot of time. We rather have a good conversation than to (website hidden) away on where to visit.

Her place is really lovely and warm and nice and please wake up for breakfast! absolutely worth the effort!

some might feel that its a litte distant from the train station but cabs are not overly expensive in Seoul, so just hop onto one and enjoy how central 126 mansion is! OR take a 2 min walk and experience any of the many many indi cafes around! :)

Hello, greetings from 126Mansion in Seoul. My two sisters and I have all worked in the art industry; my older sister is a clothing designer, my younger sister likes to paint although she is not a professional painter; and interestingly some of her better paintings are on display in our house. She truly has many gifts, she is a barista and also cooks very well. She runs our coffee shop on the first floor. Finally, as for me, I have worked in the Korean film industry. In 2009, on one fine autumn day, we found this house (126Mansion) in a wonderful area. As soon as seeing it, we fell in love with it. At the time, the location of our house had been empty for some time and was more like a ghost house. However, we could imagine just how lovely could be if we renovated it. Immediately we loved the neighborhood, it’s very historical and also very modern and safe, clean, and no large apartments, and of course lots of good places in within walking distance. This area is known as Samcheong - dong. We decided to make this house a home for travellers, opening up this house to and for people from all over the world. Generally speaking, people who visit Seoul they think Seoul is kind of shoppers paradise and that’s all, and not really so historical, not so cultural, but it’s not true. If you would stay this area, you will be able to discover many amazing points of interest. I really hope people who visit Seoul experience the various sides of Seoul, and have a true traveler’s delight. We have great passion for communicating with new people, especially who are curious about Seoul, and Korea. Upon your arrival here in our home we can recommend some really nice places, ones not really known as traditional tourists’ spots. That would be our pleasure. Please, don’t hesitate to talk to us. Lastly, I want to introduce to you my mom. She is an older lady but even in this chapter of her life, still very passionate and healthy, and of course a great cook. Early in the morning she prepares a Korean breakfast for our guests like you. I am so proud of my mom and her food. If you would like to try Korean food, please don’t miss my mom’s food. We are looking forward to meeting you, all of you wonderful travelers from all over the world. Hyunchung
