Freestanding cottage with own bathroom, kitchenette, living area and upstairs bedroom with super comfortable double bed.
The cottage is on the same grounds as our house, surrounded by our large beautiful garden, with open view over the countryside and next to the canal that leads straight into Amsterdam! We live in a perfect place just 10 minutes from Amsterdam and 15 minutes from lovely trips to Volendam or Marken and the rest of Waterland.
So it's the best of both worlds: close to the city and still you're in a nice and quiet area with lovely views over typical dutch landscape with meadows and grazing cows.
We have 2 bikes available for biking trips around Waterland, with it's cute historic villages, or you can rent a boat and explore this area from the water or even navigate your way into Amsterdam for a trip to the van Gogh museum, Anne Frank house or see stunning new architecture on the waterfront of the IJ. Shopping, clubbing or visiting a wonderful restaurant or brewery is also highly recommended!
Coffee and tea are always available, as well as a few basics to get you started.
Nearby is/are a pancake restaurant, tea garden, organic farms to visit, dress yourself up in Volendam like a true fishermen or find yourself in Marken, a village like it was 100 years ago where you can watch how they carve wooden shoes. Also de Zaanse Schans with its old windmills is well worth a visit.
There are lots of things to do and we would gladly help you with tips, maps and planning.
Who are we? We are Bas & Margot, our children Bink and Pippa, and our cats Mimoun and Nooky. Up till 3 years ago we lived in the centre of Amsterdam, our beloved city. But because we wanted more view and a bit of quiet, we moved here...and haven't regret it since!
Parking is free in front of our house and there is public transport 2 minutes from our house. We also know a parking garage in the city centre that won't set you back to many euros!
You can use our beautiful garden. It is also possible to do some washing in the washing machine in the big house. If you need anything at all we will always try to help you out!

We had a lovely stay in the cottage. It's very conveniently located if you have transport as there's parking outside and it's a short drive into the centre with all day parking at the central station only 10 euros. The place was clean and had everything we needed. It's also located in beautiful countryside with some lovely waterside towns nearby, so worth heading into the surrounding area for the day if you have time. Bas and Margot were very welcoming but we were able to come and go as we pleased which was ideal for us and our 2 year old daughter.
Very lovely place, great view, and just a stonethrow from Amsterdam centre.
One minor point though: there is no sink in the bathroom, one needs to use the kitchen sink. But it's no big deal, so don't hesitate to go there.
Bas & Margot's cottage was small and cozy, yet had everything we needed. Both hosts were very helpfull and always happy to answer any questions. We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would not hesitate to stay there again in the future!
It was clean and quiet. I wanted to use Internet for my laptop and iPhone, but I could not. In close future I want to visit Amsterdam.
What a wonderful experience! Thank you for dropping us off at the Centraal Station. This is a great place if you want to explore the Dutch countryside outside of Amsterdam, as the cottage comes with two bikes. We rode through several small towns . . . the views were breathtaking, food amazing.
The cottage itself is very cozy, with all the necessary accommodations, perfect for a couple. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a non-traditional outing near Amsterdam.
We appreciated so much the fact of beeing in the countryside but (email hidden) from Amsterdam city center. Bas & Margot are very nice people and proposed us to use their bikes..it was a lovely experience !! We recommend this place
We had an amazing stay at the cottage! It is extremely clean and modern, and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. Bas was amazing; he did everything he could to make sure we had a great stay, and he even picked us up at the bus stop at 1 am when our train was delayed. I highly recommend this place!
