The Space

Watch downtown LA through the windows in the living room, and see the Hollywood Sign, Observatory, and Capitol Records building from the back porch. Location is fantastic! A rarity in LA, you can go just a .3 miles to Sunset Blvd where there are tons of cafes and shops, or catch a bus to Hollywood, downtown, or the ocean!
There is a parking spot along with the space so don't worry about street sweeping rules and driving around looking for a space to park, come and go as you please!

The bedroom comes with a full size bed (with tempurpedic mattress topper) and an empty closet for you to settle into. Sheets, towels, dishes and other odds and ends supplied.
There is also a full sized air mattress if you plan on being a larger group!
Kitchen with all the necessities - fridge, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, and anything else you may need to make yourself a great meal.

Clean bathroom with new fixtures.

Wifi, cable, netflix, HBO, DVD player (with some of my favorite movies), AND even a VCR! Record player with tons of records to listen to, Internet Radio, and a water cooler as well.

Walk to the beautiful Silverlake Reservoir or to Sunset Junction! Each one is about 1 1/2 miles away.
101, 2, 5 freeways are about a mile away - easy trip to Downtown, Echo Park is right next door, Hollywood, Pasadena, etc. The east side at it's best.

I am currently spending most of my time at my fiance's apartment 1 3/4 miles away, so I'm not far away if an issue comes up. When not rented out, I come back to stay here and use is as a home office, because it is one great place in an amazing neighborhood!

  • Mitra's place is in a great location. Keep in mind that you'll be doing a lot of walking and public transit hopping if you're going to be without a car during your stay, but getting around on wheels couldn't have been easier and the parking spot in the back was extremely convenient. The apartment looks exactly like it does in the photos and there's a lot of awesome art around the house to look at. Not to mention Mitra's amazing record collection. I'd definitely recommend.

  • Mitra is an excellent host and her place is really amazing. It's in a great neighborhood, right near all the best spots on the eastside. Couldn't have been a more perfect stay. Spacious, clean, decorated perfectly, old Hollywood charm, etc... Can't say enough good words. Plus she was super accommodating with an extremely last minute booking. Thanks Mitra!!!

  • Mitra was easy to communicate with and check-in and check-out was very smooth. The apartment is a spacious one bedroom and looks as good as all the photos (we loved the Western theme decor). The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cookware and we made good use of it during our stay. Everything was clean and easy to use. Very close to the 101 which also made it convenient to get around.

  • This Rustic 1 Bedroom apartment in Silverlake was exactly what we were hoping for! The apartment is decorated in a funky, rustic cowboy theme that feels fun but is not too overwhelming. The apartment is very large (for a one bedroom) and has a really great dining area. We found the apartment very comfortable and enjoyable to be in.

The neighborhood is pretty fun to be in as well - the location allows you to walk to many different restaurants (we made it to Silverlake Ramen, Cowboys and Turbans, Mariela's Tacos, and a few cafés - everything was awesome!) You can hear a little street noise from the nearby 101 but it did not detract from our stay in any way. Parking in the backyard is a little tight but made the stay even better!

    I'd recommend this place!

  • My mom came to visit from Portland, Maine so we stayed at Mitra's apartment for a few days. The decor inside was everything I would want in my own home; we didn't want to leave! Tons of great books, art, vinyl, movies, and little knickknacks to look at. The back patio was really nice to watch the sunset, the parking spot was very convenient, and the building was quiet and relaxing. I will definitely have my guests stay here again...I couldn't have asked for a better first experience with airbnb :) Thanks again!

  • Mitra's apartment was great! Before we arrived she was very accommodating with check in times and sent a ton of recommendations and ideas for the area. The parking spot was so nice to have and the bottle of wine waiting for us was such a beautiful touch. The bed was super comfortable (we enjoy soft beds) and the shower pressure was great. Having air conditioning was a must and it was really easy to use. The neighbourhood was perfect. We loved silverlake. Mitra's suggestions about where to go was so appreciated. It was nice to go to a place in LA that was more walkable. We would definitely stay again.

  • What an awesome place. Mitra's design style is impeccable. My husband and I stayed here for a month and had a great time. Mitra was a great host and was super easy to get a hold of.
Location location location!! We walked everywhere such a lux living in LA.
Easy parking made our commute a dream.
Plus a huge orange tree that was in bloom outside of the bedroom window made the place smell amazing.
We would recommend Mitra's place anytime.
    Thanks again!!!

Mitra Khayyam is a 30 year old woman has always loved fashion and art. She had been making magazines since the age of nine, but found that putting pen to paper just wasn't her thing. Instead, she married her passions by applying her creativity to the business end, studying Design Management at Parsons The New School for Design in NYC. After paying her dues in the industry for several years, during which time one of the most prominent fashion photographers told her she'd never work in this town again, Mitra decided it was time to start working for herself. Blood is the New Black, the artist-centric tee-shirt company she founded in 2004, is based on an alternative business model she created for her senior thesis, and that same year she was named one V Magazine's "Seventeen Most Industrious" in NYC. While BITNB continues to grow as a global platform for emerging artists, Mitra herself has branched out, lending her unique sensibility to children's clothing line Little Warrior, and developing some very special personal projects inspired by her love of all things Americana. She currently lives in Los Angeles, CA with two dogs and a whole lot of country records.
