The Space

I have a private room (top floor space) available in my central London flat, this will be perfect for any visiting professional, traveller or explorer looking for a great place to have as a base for exploring London and the UK.

There is a beautifully comfortable double bed.. and we've had friends stay there and love it.. as well as couples.

We can also - by request - and subject to availability arrange for an extra single bed (sofa-bed) type to be put there and made available.

It's a big space which is on a level above the rest of the flat.

One of the highlights is that the room has a lot of light with two skylights and also benefits from amazing views of Canary Wharf through the huge round windows which is exceptionally beautiful at night.

The flat is fully equipped with:

- Wireless internet
- Television
- Radio
- Whirlpool Spa Bath
- Washer / Dryer
- Microwave / Oven / Grill
- Fridge / Freezer
- Dishwasher
- Gas Hob

Parking: There are places to park nearby.

Tube Stations:
- The flat is c. 7minutes walk from Bermondsey tube station (Jubilee line one stop from London Bridge).
- The flat is c. 5minutes walk from Rotherhithe tube station (east London line)
- The flat is c. 10 minutes walk from Canada Water station (jubilee line - one stop to Canary Wharf)
- Bus leaves from just outside of the station to within 1minute walk

Near by:
- Within walking distance are all the normal shops you will need from Tescos to Coffee Shops and Starbucks

Visitor Attractions:
- you can see Tower Bridge / St Pauls and Canary Wharf from the flat
- there is Southwark Park within a few steps
- The river thames is within 1 minute walk and from there you can walk to Tower Bridge in c. 15-20minutes.

Host:
I've lived in London for over ten years, and worked in the city before starting my own businesses. I can share the hidden gems of London if you'd like.

This is an ideal flat for anyone looking for a great place to stay. And perfect for solo travellers or couples. Look forward to welcoming you to London.

Guest Access

You will have access to the whole flat (except bedrooms), our amazing double height kitchen, great wifi, tv and more

Interaction with Guests

I work with global charities so travel from time to time, but we are friendly and I love getting to know guests and showing them around and the local restaurants and cafe if they like. If you want privacy and space that is also perfect. I use airbnb as a guest too.. and my intent is that we all have an amazing experience.

The Neighborhood

It's near the river, and the park. It's ideal for exploring London from the beauty of Greenwich to Tower Bridge and London Bridge. The tube lines will get you into central London.. covent garden and Leicester square .. or via the Rotherhithe Tube line.. you can get to shoreditch high street and the thriving atmosphere there of the fashion / hipster and tech city spaces.. and Canary Wharf, the O2 is also a few stops away.. It's the perfect blend of city and "Village".. in our gem of London.. Rotherhithe Village..

Getting around

Transport is really easy.. with 3 tube stops just a few minutes walk away - Bermondsey, Rotherhithe and Canada Water.

There is a bus stop just a minute walk from the flat.. which will take you into town or out to Greenwich.

The bicycle hire bikes can be found in Tower Bridge/London Bridge and are great too if you like to cycle

Other Things to Note

I used to work in the city.. now I help global philanthropy projects, mentor entrepreneurs and have businesses including design, and webdevelopment and founded (email hidden)

I'm passionate about travelling and connecting with great people.

We'll do what we can to make sure you have a great stay.

  • We struggled finding Simon's apartment however once we did we were grateful for the good location - for a short walk you can get a beautiful view of the Tower Bridge. Simon was not at the apartment during our stay, and as we were unable to download the house rules manual due to the link being down, we had some difficulties getting inside, however Simon was available on mobile to guide us through. As mentioned in other reviews, the place is extremely cluttered and also a little dusty, which we only noticed due to our allergies. The room gets a lot of light which was lovely, but it was difficult to get some sleep as there are no blinds or curtains. Overall the location and privacy made up for the down falls.

  • Had a lovely stay Simon and Douglas were lovely
    Very friendly
Great to do all my washing
Flat is very close to public transport and main london attractions
Jet bath was fantastic for sore feet that have been walking around all day

  • The loft is a short walk to the train (5-10 mins), grocery stores and a pub/restaurant; it's right next to a park too which looked great, but I'll have to explore that next time :) Simon left clear instructions on how to access the building and utilise the space (which had a great bathroom and kitchen!).

  • I did not meet Simon, he informed us he would not be there during our stay and provided directions for access. There was another renter there when we arrived who had also just arrived. Simon's place is in a good location near the tube. It is stylish - if a bit more cluttered than his photos show. If you have an issue with clutter, this place isn't for you. The room is not private. There is no door, so depending on who is staying with you, you may or may not be comfortable in this situation.

  • The room was easy to get to, about 10 minutes from the nearest tube station.
No one else was there during our stay which to be honest we weren't expecting, we kinda felt one of things we like about airbnb is that you actually get to stay with people.
Also we had to put on our own bedding when we got there and strip the bed when we left the next day, again, not what we expected. There were also no towels for us to use - this was mentioned in the 'house rules' but unfortunately the link to this which Simon sent us didn't work so we didn't actually know this until we arrived.
As other people have mentioned, there was quite a lot of stuff in the end of the bedroom you can't see in the photo - it didn't really bother us that much but it might some people, it could probably be sorted with a couple of screens to hide shelving, boxes, files and equipment.
Overall a bit of a mixed bag.

  • Ervaring met Simon als verhuurder was prima, al was het maar voor een nacht. Instructie over toegang was helder. Het appartement was netjes, verzorgd. Faciliteiten prima: keuken, bed, badkamer. Situatie gaf snel een goed gevoel. Buurt deed ook prettig aan. Diverse winkels / eetgelegenheden in de buurt die nog tot laat open waren.

  • It was a shocking experience, the house was extremely dirty with no privacy. We decided to get a hotel room for my mom instead as this was totally unacceptable. It was nothing like the picture.

  • Flat was easily accessible even though I did not meet Simon. Easy to get to from heathrow airport by train. Flat was clean and close to public transport. Lovely walk along the river to Tower Bridge.

  • It was nice been at Simons house.. I didn't see Simon. Gregori gave us some information about house rules. I recommend. .

  • The location was great, quite near public transportation and some nice places to eat (the Mayflower, Simplicity, and a cute breakfast cafe) Simon and his roommate, and his roommate's girlfriend were quite friendly,
